Amount of grinding in PoE, compared to Diablo 2
" I wouldn't put it so strongly, you almost make it sound as if PoE is from a different kind of genre than D2, but I agree. For me the question is now whether GGG thinks the way it is is just the way it should be, or did they actually fail at figuring out the "right" time-(risk)-reward ratio but dare not make big changes, or are they just not there yet. Agree with Op. Drop rate sucks balls and time played to good loot ratio just sucks. Hate the RNG on orbs especially fusings / jewellers. I know I'll never ever make a 6L no matter how many fusings I throw at my 6 socket. Game ain't fun anymore when you have gotten to merc a3 and maps around 5 or 6 times with level 60-80s and have nothing good drop but shit uniques.

" Life goes on, not the end of the world. Basically only in these types of games, do players who buy lotto tickets expect to win big time and believe it's owed to them. Here's a thought to get used too, YOU LOSE. But can you still have fun? I do, if you can't then it's only because it's in your head. Anything else is just a unwarranted bonus. |

I played D2 for prolly a year or two,and i feel there was much, much less content than there is in PoE.

"This is completely untrue. On our LAN parties we had back in the good old days we'd hardly manage to complete normal difficulty n one night. Granted, we were stinking drunk most of the time but still level 80 in one DAY? Impossible. Not even possible if you count 24 hours playtime as "one day". IGN Riddericke ▪ UTC+1 ▪ SHOP 498896

" Typical response. It is OWED to me and every other player who spends 1000s of fusings farming just to make one 6L. Sectioning off a whole part of the game behind a wall of shitty RNG is bad game design. It's game longevity by RNG pretty much; the proverbial carrot for us to chase. Unfortunately, the carrot is just too far away to actually get yourself. Better to just buy. Crafting system is pretty bad in this game. You can defend it all you want. I wont agree with you. And enjoyment is subjective like you said. I'm getting tired of making no real headway. |

Oh god... because it's not supposed to be D2
This is POE, a diff game with diff playstyle, it's not supposed to fit your playstyle, you are supposed to fit your playstyle to the right game. Only got to act II cruel so far, but it's not like this is the first game someone complains about its gameplay. Will update once I reach end game content. |

" Actually, I copuld get a rushed character without glitching to about level 75-80 in less than 18 hours of game time, it was getting the rest of the levels that took forever. Now yes, when you just go out and quest like normal, it could take abotu a week, as it does here, but if you do the standard powerleveling, trist, catacombs, cows baal runs and the like, then it could take you less than a full day to get to 75. To the rest of everyone, I'm not going to bother quoting every single post. PoE has the exact same loot system as D2. Random. You could spend months and never find a ber or zod. You could take an entire ladder season to self found a good Hoto or Enigma. I dont think I see may people at all doing anni and torch runs solo and self found. This game is the exact same. Trading is key to getting the perfect build with gearing, gems and currency. If every single person got a godly drop for a certain amoutn of time played, then no one would be playing since godly gear would be flodding the market, and we all saw how D3 reacted to flooded markets. The simple fact of the matter is not everyone deserves a godly drop for a certain amount of time played. That is you being entitled. I could play years and never get a godly drop and be fine because I dont expect the game to hand me anything. If you come to a game where random loot drops and expect to be rewarded with godly gear after a set amount of time, then your going to have a piss poor time. " I will admit though, this is pristine. Its simple fact of the matter. Dont play a game of luck and expect the big win. You dont go to a casino expecting to hit the jackpot after weeks of pulling the lever. You can never expect it. Never. If you do, and get upset bout it and complain, they'll just throw you out and ban you. Welcome to how luck and lottery games are played. You will lose alot, and only certain few win. You might be that one lottery winner, but you could also be that guy who spend $50 a week in lotto tickets for every week of his life and never win a red cent. " if something has a 1/500 chance of happening, you should expect to try 500 times before success. Sure, you know that this is not a guarantee, it's a benchmark. But that is the definition of the expected value in statistics. If you know the shape of the probability density function behind the drop rates, you can come up with percentiles. That way, you could know how many required fusings to be, say, 95% sure of success. That number is probably really high though, and that is what is pissing people off. I've been playing 180 hours and I have like maybe 20 orbs of fusing. I haven't used any yet, either. I did find 2 5L white chests and 1 5L hammer though :) I just plan on holding on to what I find until a little further into the game, finding stuff and then deciding what I want to do when my gear is outdated. |
