i also play LOTRO and have for 6 years. Ive played all the AAA games and it feels like a glove. I started on Atari of course and quickly racked up well over a million on Missile command one overnighter (good memories).

Commodore Vic 20 was my first `Puter with an astounding 4 k ram (or is it rom?) Adventureland was my first love affair with a game. this was in my early 30s.

I can group with anyone if its not run and gun in LOTRO, done the Rift many times IMO the hardest on level instance ingame.

As for this game, Its the targetting with mouse needing a little finesse more than reaction time. Just got a Rat 5 to help me out with that part. I have some hand tremours until I get into the groove. Aint no way I can Keep up with players like Ziggy D.

BTW 63 is mentally not much different than 33, but physically you will slow down in just about all areas. Edited to note that at this age taking pills and meds begin to come into play and that might well dull mental reflexes too.

Your grasp of gaming parlance and vocabulary is impressive and this post makes you sound at least forty years younger than the age you say you are. I can only hope that I will remain as lucid as you if/when I reach your age (I'm a wee 24 myself).
Have you made a cool build using The Coming Calamity? Let me know!

Did you old folks play when you were younger. Or have you been playing for a while? If I would in theory play till i'm 60 (i'm 20 now) do you guys think I would lose that much of my reflex capability?

60+ ppl would have had great trouble playing computer games when young...
I have been reading this thread for a while today as I just D/l POE. I am also 63 and a veteran of diablo (hack, hack, hack), WOW..PVP etc. I played Rugby for almost 40 years and my reflexes used to be pretty good. I have to admit after Knee, Back, and Shoulder surgery...I can't catch flies out of the air anymore (but I am hell on moths).

I am used to RPG (Neverwinter, Icewind Dale, Original Baldurs Gate, DA I/II, but mostly played them SP (Told you I was old).

My problem is honestly making a build that I can understand and catch on to the game. after that, I learn quickly and think I could come up with something that could keep the young bucks off me (to a point of course).

If one of you older guys would like to help me some (or younger ones that want to prove me wrong heh heh) Please PM me (or whatever you do in this game) and I would be happy to take the hints and even join an "Old Farts Guild"

Did you guys know that when your 20 years service was up in Rome you had to join a reserve unit. This was made up of old retired Vets from all the wars (remember they had already served 20 years). And of course they were the last stand to protect the cities in a disaster case. In 200 years they lost two battles and were considered the meanest, dirtiest, fighters their were (true story).

Thanks and any help on a build beside a Marauder (don't want to make it too easy), I will try and follow.

BTW...Once you die in the regular game, do you restart (I read about the higher levels)? But I am talking about beginner games..I may have to start over 20 times!!!

Thanks GrudgeBringer_
Thanks for the compliment Ephitat. I ended up joining a guild that uses voice chat to help me with POE speak and all those abbreviations.
As for the skill tree,...well I think I got the first 20 points figured out for a bow ranger. Things like Blood mercy, Iron reflexes, etc for a ranger is counter intuitive but appears that those are the skills Du Jour. I would have assumed a ranger stays in the Dex portion of the tree, but not so, which makes this game very, very interesting indeed.

The computer of my youth was a slide rule, and punch cards. Room sized Eniacs rocked!
Charan must be under 50...

I expected him to post :P
60 is not that old... :)
Glad you are enjoying. I'm loving POE more then twice as much as i did D2, so hopefully that 10 year span with d2 will relive itself as a 20 yr lootfest and beyond with POE.

I'll be 50 by that time, i'll report back then!

Charan's said he's 35. Of course, he's lying. He's actually a 13 year old girl living in Denmark. =^[.]~=
