Map bosses changes 1.03 and beyond are here

ye i was like wtf is this @ the blacksmith why dis nigga be poppin dem zombs y0 and then i was like checking muh dmg taken and it was chaos and like y0 dis not cool man y he do dis also he hurt more then usually with some hits but y0 dawg like really y0 not cool.

IF you make bosses harder or anything , make sure maps stop dropping UNDER their level the worst part about mapping aren´t the bosses - its kinda fun that i get raped now and then it makes me rethink my gear and sometimes it makes me flip my keyboard and alt-f4 (like shock and horror wtf man?)

but please
i dont want to loot crypts dried lake dunes orchard on my temple promenade or whatever cells collonade i just dont WANT to.

there is no sense of progression there , i thought mapping as a newb back then would be endless fun.

but right now youve to roll doable mods depending on your gear and personal skill (no offense to bads) and THEN youve to hope for at least the same map you´re running to drop or of at least equal level.

ive ran 7 maps lately , had only one map of equal level in return.
needlessly to say im back doing dominus runs until this somehow improves or i feel motivated and rdy to grind more xp and climb the ladder in maps.

i played for everyday massive ammount of hours and ive never stepped foot into a map higher then 73.
not because i sucked at playing , not because my gear wasnt good enough(you really dont need all the highenduniques and triresliferares in every slot for mapping makes it a lot easier but its not mandatory matterfact it makes the game flat out boring been there done that) but because the game chose not to reward me with sufficient ammount of maps for my time input.

so basically leveling right now past 80 is doing the lowlvl maps ive in my stash hoping for a higher map, then taking off all my IIR in order not to die and make it really easy thus turning loot into mostly crap and blue eliminating the loothunt while turning myself into a bot for the sake of leveling.

There are at least 10 more nodes id like to have and can you guess which one those are ?
LIFENODES hah hilarious innit.

Out of curiosity - still not having played maps - has anyone tried Frost Wall + Cast on Damage Taken for mitigating Shock and Horror's lightning beam?

If anyone from my party tries throwing around Frost Wall in a tight boss room I swear by my pretty florar bonnet Im gonna end him :)

Have a nice day :)

PS Frost Wall may be useful, but for solo players. In groups you gonna get kicked if you suddenly block someone's escape/kiteing path :) Torchlight 2 frost wall is way better - it just allows party members to pass through it. Great CC, great utility.

i face tanked him alone with a ranged character with 4k hp... less glass cannon builds next time.

You realize facetanking and ranged character are diametrically opposed, right?

I haven't fought him since patch, but he was not bad before as long as you did not let him eat corpses. That said, the map itself is terrible and now I vendor them.

edit: As for torture chamber boss - the columns.. Yeah, that will work real well for a melee character.. Most of the people with the EHP required to be fighting her in melee range and then break off and go hide behind a column are not going to be running 72s because they won't get shit for experience from them.

Where is there stated a requirement that you kill bosses while in a map?

Well fuck me silly.

First of all, this is a hack and slash game where you do epic stuff like battling demons and evil sorcerers.
Currently 99% of content is in no way epic battles, just mindless grind.
Wanna mindless grind? Go to D3, do some MP0.

If you dont kill boss on the map the why in the fuck play such game?

WHY?????

You have no idea how ridiculous this game has become in hardcore/nemesis. I personally haven't ever found a map above 74 in my time playing but i recently joined a group of "high rollers" and did some 75-77 maps with them. I gotta say it was very fucking dissapointing. Most of the time we just skipped the bosses and just farmed the rest of the map for the xp. That's how they move up the ladder there. That being said i have given up and just do races or level alts now because the high level end game is not what i was hoping for.

In my opinion the map boss should reflect the difficulty of the map and not roflstomp everything up to the boss room where you get the "surprise buttsex" treatment. Furthermore i'd rather not do a map at all if it is that i have to skip the boss. I like boss fights. It's the highlight of each map. Sad that it's so dangerous it's not worth trying most of the time.

So you get higher on ladder because you mindlessly grinded easy content on low level maps and skipped the bosses? FUCKING GG MAN.

Secondly:

Difficult boss encounter
- warns the player by an animation 0,5 to 1 second before attacking for 90%-110% of character's health pool
- the player has 0,5 to 1 second to dodge, use a protection spell, etc.

Stupid boss
- attacks the players character for 150% of health pool with no warning

The fact is, 70% of bosses on maps are faceroll, 25% of bosses are stupid, and 5% are difficult and interesting to face.

issue is they cant modulate the bosses based on map maps. the courtyard boss is a great fight unless their hasted, doing 30% increased damage and its temp chains.

Sorry, but no.

You can do anything with a software if you are smart enough and you have enough time.

If GGG put time into developing mechanics for bosses ('boss warns players with an animation, player has 1 second to dodge') the boss encounters would gradually become a test of skill, not luck, or no test at all since boss oneshots you no matter what you do.

With map mods, you would have 0,7 instead of 1 second to dodge, or boss would smash for 150% of your HP pool instead of 90%. Still, with fast enough response time, you would be able to dodge.

GGG's devs are smart enough, as you can see by Vaal or Piety encounter. Most probably they are understaffed.

it is already a test of skill you just dont realize the skill needed to fight vaal is much less than to kill dominus or courtyard.

I believe you miss my point. There are maps with interesting bosses, but most of the maps have bosses you faceroll or they oneshot you. GGG gotta have more money put into manhours of devs preparing boss encounters.

Moreover, there is still the issue of 99% of the content - white, magic, rare mobs. They're faceroll so easily it's just silly. They go down like 2 dollar hookers.

In Diablo 3 or Torchlight 2 there were some elite mobs that were difficult and required a bit of skillful play, and they dropped some nice loot.

How can you even say anything at all when you can't map yet? HOW? You have 0 experience in the shit. You can speculate, which is pretty obvious by the completely obnoxious posts in this thread.

If there was a fucking bear shark with a chainsaw arm and a laser cannon on its forehead guarding my fridge, you'd still probably scream at me "YOU ARE CHOOSING TO EAT." That is how stupid your posts sound.

Bosses are the best sources of loot in maps and a solid reward for completing them. You need gear to progress. In fact, this entire game is based on finding awesome shit. It's not a choice.
