...::: Ten Commandments of SFL :::...

1) No it doesn't. You don't NEED these items. You think you do. You feel it. But learning to do with what you have is what makes this game interesting. If you just have good items handed to you (trading or by developer's whim) you've lost the heart of the game.

There's nothing wrong with the drop rates for orbs. The problem is that your expectations are too high.

Kind of an easy thing to say when your just guess at Thorien's expectations, and don't bother to enumerate your own.

What's a reasonable set of expectations, and a reasonable time frame for fulfilling them?

One possible problem (before I get jumped in, this is a troll free reply. You're free to add it to your "problems" section OP ) if there is a league that looks like this, is RMT. You don't kill RMT by SFL : botters won't sell orbs, they will just sell accounts ("level 80 duelist with 6L voltaxic and 20ex in stash for $$$"), and with increase drop rates and easier crafting, they will do that way faster than they are doing now. So it might be even worse than what it is now. I mean that in all seriousness.

You'll say "people in SFL are not interested in that kind of crap". Yeah, no one is if you ask everyone in the game. But still...

You do need these items if you want to do endgame content, which is what aRPGs are about.

You are making assumptions that are unfounded. Everyone assumes SFL want 1000 fold increase in drops. That is not what I or most (I think) SFL proponents want. Just a small increase. I currently play end game with mostly blue items. Not because I like to suffer, but because I can't get a god damned regal to drop so I can add another freakin mod. I spent a bunch of alterations and got the blue weapon to out DPS any yellow I have ever found. I would just like to add a few mods to it, but orb drops are so damned low, I can't.

Your assumptions are out of whack because of the current trading model.

Selling accounts will never be as widespread as selling items or currency, not even close.
And a sold account has practically no influence on other players.

True, but saying that a new reality is a bad idea just because it doesn't fix a flaw in the current one is a weak argument. There are many flaws currently. If you take the position that they all have to be fixed before a change is made, change will never happen.

Directly related to that issue, though, I think (or hope, at least) it would be easier to minimize account trading than the current RMT trades. Accounts can be tracked easier than Chaos Orbs, but it really depends on what GGG has in place, if anything.

I'm not making assumptions, I know how to read and I reply to the OP, which is the topic of this thread. So please dont be off-topic. In this original post, you can read some propositions, and my reply is based on them : regals drop 3-5x times more, chaos probably 2x, chromes 2-3x times more, fuses 3-5x and a fusing recipe with 4L items.

I would suggest that expecting to find/craft anything with six links is an unreasonable expectation.

And judging by the vast majority of posts on these forums people (generally) feel as though they "deserve" a six-linked item, just because they play a lot.

Well, by that logic, I "deserve" to win the lottery - even though it's a completely unrealistic expectation.

I'm not giving an argument against SFL, OP said it's not the place to debate. He asks us what could be the problems if there was an SFL like this, I just give my input as he requested.
