Hi GGG,Is the Singapore gateway removed?

This is the most concerning thing and was not appointed by Chris. They backstabbed every Singapore Gateway user with not announcing this change.

By now I wish Steam never happened. The fact that GGG is now urged to co-operate with other companies on equal footing, not being able to fully control the deal, is sad to see.

As far as I know, your beta supporters on a local forum are already quitting.

Maybe it was just a business decision, but we think you GGG are racists, especially your admins.

It is really a shame to know that you are no better than Blizzard. GG GGG.

What does this have anything to do with racism...lol. Damn, I guess I shouldn't feed a troll.

No worries, I can find other ways to spend my money instead of donating. At least D3 I can play without insane amounts of lag.

If GGG made some official statement about this "change", it will be better (a little bit), doing something under cover is really bad.

Because of this "issue", I stopped playing PoE unless it is solved.

D3 oh, worse alternative ... at least for now ...

Simple logic and conspiracy theory, you can't stop people to think that way.

Obviously you are not included, and I'm not even from Singapore.
You won't have my gear.

Racism isn't just about white supremacy, the master race and all that bullshit. It can also be a lot more subtler, like in this case where the SEA community is treated as an expendable playerbase that GGG can afford to ostracize.

As an American working in Japan, I see this subtler racism towards SEA people all around me, when they have to work a hundred times harder than me to get the kind of work opportunities that kind of just fall into my lap.

You can still play on the Singapore server by typing Singapore in the box. We're not restricting access for existing users, but we are trying to prevent confusion. Too many Garena customers ended up with our client trying to make characters on the wrong server cluster.
The reports of increased latency on the server are nothing to do with us - we haven't modified it at all. I'd recommend reporting those to your ISP.

Confusion?

Simply list the Garena server as "Garena" and the good ol' Singapore server as "Singapore".

If Garena cannot convince customers to take up their server, then that's their problem; it shouldn't be yours, and it sure as hell shouldn't feel like an outcasting of the existing Sg server community (and essentially every Singaporean who has supported you since CB). Sure, I get that the contract with them probably has fine print to the effect of requiring you to do this. Simply consider me, a Singaporean, disappointed that you would let a demand for player influx herding be a part of your contract and thus cause said outcasting.

It is intentional that new Singaporean players play on Garena's server. We're very adamant that existing players (especially those who have characters on our servers they'd like to still play or those who have given us money) are still able to play without any interruption. Garena completely agree that IP blocks are a bad idea.
While the number of Singaporean server machines we have may fluctuate over time, it'll never be financially unfeasible to have enough to support existing players. I don't get to make all the decisions, but I care very, very greatly about making sure that everyone gets a good experience.

By intentionally pushing new Singaporeans towards the Garena servers, you alienate those of us who are on your Singaporean servers. A good experience for us would be to constantly have an influx of new players, and not be left alone to rot and dwindle like an aging population (LOL LOCAL REFERENCE!) while new players gravitate towards what is feared to end up a shitty server. I'm sure I speak for all Singaporeans when I say that we don't want to one day hear our friends say "Oh hey you play POE too? Join me on Garena!" and then both parties feel fucked, one for not knowing that there exists a Singapore server and one for not being able to join a friend without starting from scratch.

Look, I get that it's all part of what's best for business and probably part of your contract, to promote Garena WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY keeping visibility of the current Sg server as low as possible in order to make us look like a malignant tumor. Hey, we get it, it's business, someone has to feel screwed.

I guess we're just disappointed right now that it seems to be us.

Existing players who use Singapore gateway remain unaffected in terms of login etc. It is Singapore Gateway for me @ login screen, unless I use the drop-down where Singapore is not an option (and If I choose others, I just need to type in Singapore etc).

What I am curious about is NEW Accounts created. In the coming weeks/months when some random person creates a new account on poe.com website, then d/loads the game from poe website, when they FIRST time ever log into POE, can they too type in Singapore and so play on Singapore?
My suspicion is that wont work. Because if that does, then hiding/removing Singapore as an option has no meaning (forget for a moment that new future players would'nt know about typing in Singapore etc).

I see this mainly as those of us (not just from SE Asia but those who are "closest" to Singapore geographically)to either play the game through GGG with a handful of "existing" players in our playtime zones and a predominant population from elsewhere (australia/Europe/US), OR bite the bullet, and stop here and go to whatever "local"/close publisher is. So they either HAVE to choose one of the three gateways available (not really feasible with ping differences) , or find their local/close publisher, do the d/load etc and play there.

I dont have a beef with that, it is a choice after all, as long as the local partner doesnt get to play god with the game, in terms of . microtransactions/drops etc.

This morning, I wake up, I don't even feel like playing PoE anymore...

I feel some people in GGG is really short sighted or is just a short-term money greed grabber. Although i can understand u waited this opportunity for 7 years+ already.

I agree with the fact an organization required $ to operate, but this plan of multiple distributor is a fail0r and it was proven in many case. It's like a black hole with a cookie in the middle. Yes u get to eat the cookie, but well,...

Ask some players who was affect when Aion and Tera was given rights to Gameforge after the game launched... GF eventually IP Ban all the SEA players while retaining the exist ones. The population of SEA players simply dry up and the connection quality becomes so retarded (average 300-500ping) everyone left...

This move is simply dumb, why..? Most SG is a blizzard fan. Blizz announced RoS. GGG splits the SEA population. What GGG gets? A slap to your loyalty players, gain of free Riders. When RoS officially release, u lost both. Most SG never like ARPG or game that don't have fancyful stuff. When i introduce PoE to most of my friends, they will says eeee so ugly... I personally feel retain the existing old customers is better than trading us off for new ones. Most of them won't stay.

You need to understand the region.
