GGG Please Figure out how to stop Boosting (screenshots included)

If you don't boost you enjoy throwing time away and hate fun.

It'd be better if partying with real people were more productive than partying with afk characters.

I did it because it'd be stupid not to with how the game works right now.

When you see statements like this you know the game has some pretty serious problems.
To say that because someone has boosted or is boosting, and there opinions and SOLUTIONS to the problem don't matter, is what is silly sir

To summarise, I stated, just because they have posted solutions does not CONDONE their actions, stop trying to make excuses for what is simply abuse, there is no sugar coating it, and I honestly believe anyone who thinks that boosting is fair play are clearly just boosters themselves.

There is no valid or justified argument for boosting, it is cheating, the sole purpose to boost, the fact it is being used by various players in the top ten to gain an unfair advantage so they can WIN, it is that simple.
Look, I am strongly against boosting and all the related bullshit but closed beta is for testing, right? And it means abusing the game mechanics as much as possible. The only silly thing about this is that GGG decided to reward ladder races winners in CB, it creates negative emotions if you lose and some other guy won because he had an extra key.

These two things don't go together well, races with rewards and closed beta testing. Too bad GGG went this path, now all we can do is talk about it. Maybe they made it this emotional to receive more feedback! Smart huh?

With real rewards I agree.

Races do help find abusable mechanics though.

But these real rewards might also help "encourage" people to use the a abusable mechanics to "let" GGG know.

Agreed but I am not so sure that these folks are 'testing' the game & then reporting feedback to GGG in order to improve it, it seems to me that they are very much doing it for their own gain & not to better the game in general.

Cheating all in all, displays what people's true character is like and that is a fact. Anyone who cheats so that they gain and prosper know what they are doing is wrong, but know they are willing to do whatever it takes to WIN. There is no on grey area about it, because the issues are now known, simple as, and the rewards are very real.

Can you answer a question?

What if get 5 friends to play the level 1s on their computers. Is it considered "cheating"?

What if I level all the "boosters" to 60 first?

What if I level them to 50?

What if I get 5 of my friends to play level 50s and run around the map with me?

No grey area now?

And your post is in no way pedantic? Let me ask you a question, you HAVE boosted at one point right? So I can also assume that your views are biased. Your questions were simply pedantic for the sake of argument. If you want to nitpick that is fine, but you very well know and understand what the issue is here, and very know what is being questioned. I find every single one of the questions you just posted, irrelevant. Now it is obviously possible that situations like that "can" arise.

But, at the same time many of those questions you made are questionable in their intent. And this is about a player benefiting greatly by abusing a system. Clearly you are trying to say that there are many variables that are connected with the issue and it isn't as easy and just doing x or y which to an extent is true. But there are many issues right now that could very well be resolved and the fact is, the very simple fact is there are and have been many players in the top 10 who are using this system for their own personal gain.

I can go on the defensive here, but the topic isnt about banning people for what you think may or may not be cheating.

Its about figuring out a problem (understanding what the problem really is) and fixing it.

I have boosted a lot, I'm trying to show people how boosting is done and why its a problem. I'm also trying to tell you why some of the things you state dont work to fix the issue, because as you stated I have more experience in it.

Now, you wont answer the questions because you are upset they will show how far off your thoughts of it are.

Dashtum tries to answer the questions, but you can clearly see that he is making up the rules as he sees fit.
There is no way to tell if "my friends" are playing or if its me controlling them all (I'm not talking about botting).

You cant count on peoples "ethics" to stop them from doing actions. The game should be fixed in a way where ethics are not a question, its either can or cant be done.
The ethical thing is whatever GGG thinks is the right way and codes it. If you break a "rule" that they cant code, then you can be banned (like botting, no matter how much coding will be done botting will happen)

This isnt something they cant code and fix, also there is no way to tell if my friends are playing an account to xyz level or I played it to xyz level.

Desbris you say there is no "grey" where, and yet its full of grey areas is what I was trying to point out.

Now about me boosting, I do it because its not breaking a rule, and others are doing it, and I can. Its also more fun to me, and I'm testing the game and all its issues.

Should I stop doing other things like rolling maps knowing that some mods are out of balance? Or stop using a skill because its too strong? GGG said they were going to change Temp chains because it was too strong. Does that mean if I use it I should be banned until they change it?

I'm taking it to extremes because what you say is really just trying to attack me for something you cant do. You dont know me, and you think I just like to cheat to win. I want this fixed so the game is more fun and balanced. Just as I report balance issues with builds, and broken skills. Doesnt mean I will (nor require others) to stop using them.

GGG should fix this, Ive reported it many times, and offered ways to fix it. Now all I can do it play within the rules of the game.

If GGG comes out and says "you cant do this, you will be banned" I will stop, and report anyone I believe is doing it.
They also better have a pretty good detail of what it is because I'm likely to push the edge of whatever it is to get it done.
If they say "You cant boost" well thats very vague and like I said what if me and my 5 friends who are 10 levels lower me play together, are we in fear of being banned?

GGG coming out and saying "you can be banned, stop" is not a good fix for this problem, is my point here also.
They can easy code in something that fixes this issue. As I've already explained.
Yes they probably do lethal_papercut, but it is GGG who let them. I mean, it can't be too hard to find all the lv1 chars in merciless and delete their accounts instead of rewarding the guys with demigods. I hope I don't sound too bitter, I don't care that much about ladders since I would never win one even with full party of boosters. I was merely trying to point out that the design of rewards in CB is what makes this issue so significant already, even in CB, which is usually meant to be abused.

All you people who think boosting is cheating are ridiculous. Just because you thinks it’s cheating does not make it so.

It’s taking advantage of game mechanic that is available to all. It’s not an exploit.

Get over it already.

Personally, I’d like to see something like they are doing in 1.0.5 in D3. Monster Power. Problem solved.
If not cheating then P2W in CB and silly mechanic for competitive gameplay in OB and later.
