so what was the Open Beta exactly for?

It's true, GGG never removes broken things. That's why I'm still playing my Avatar of Fire build.

Lol, I cant wait to see how they reworked AoF. I love burning things.
HAIL SATAN!
Open beta was to determine server loads and iron out client bugs while setting a baseline balance goal. 1.0 will not invalidate that.

Why don't people that do nothing but whine, just pack their shit and leave?Seriously, you don't like it,leave!

1.Have any of you seen patchnotes for 1.0?NO,so why don't you shut up,and save your bitching for 3 weeks from now.How do you know they are not nerfing CI?How do you know they are not balancing skills and uniques? That's right, you don't,you just pulled this thread out of your ass...

2.This is a F2P game,meaning "open beta" is not for testing,but a soft launch (that's why there's no wipe)

Number 1 was spot on. Nunber 2 is stupid and I wish uninformed jackasses would quit perpetuating that idiodic line of rasoning. It really is stupid and people need to ralize this.

Goddamnit quote is all fucked up and I can't fix it on my phone

if you want,i can search for quotes from Chris, saying that open beta is actually launch.Have you heard of many betas where people are allowed to spend money on MTX or keep their characters for launch?I've seen a few cases like this, all of them are f2p games, why do you think the term "soft launch" was invented?
They started doing the microtransactions in closed beta because the community demanded it wholesale, loudly, and in unison.

what you - alpha testers - can do is to check if the build does not crash instantly (and you are not able to spot all these cases - see patch notes for post-patch crash fixes - most recently, tempest shield. but probably no alpha tester uses this skill at all)

what you cannot test is fuckton of new builds and passive tree/skill/item interactions - you can select few builds that you know and see if they feel right. just that.

there are 100+ skills in this game now. with trigger gems this easily just got doubled.

and you werent able to spot that Reave cancels-out when player open a chest or that reave misses 50% of the targets just because. sorry - but this alpha-testing is hardly catching elephant-sized bugs if at all.

add to that new passive tree (cutting middle links + adding NEW CLASS!) that is STILL being changed. with game as complex as this one few tweaks to the passive tree can change entire gameplay. cutting middle removes GR+VP. or makes getting necro aegis a costly endeavor. they are still changing that tree. and you think that you can test that? talk about self-confidence
Can anyone name a game that has not had balance patches after release since the age of the Internet started?

remind me when was the last time ggg addressed bullshit uniques and/or bullshit builds/skill combos?

in OB the most drastic change they did was to remove DEX bonus from IR. WOW!

ggg has bad track record of difficult balancing decisions and (looking at the past) - if something will be released it almost never gets fixed. esp diamond uniques :)
