So, Blizz has the balls to remove AH...

I hate soulbound items. I hate account bound.

I play PoE because it doesn't have that. I like trading player to player.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the Ruler of Wraecla... holy smokes, nice purchase Charan!! :D
but on a more serious note, do the masses truly still believe the fact that Blizz left the AH up for so long is completely unrelated to the significant income it provided out of thin air? It only strengthens the disparity we have now as a culture to the relationship between money and true value. The AH was always a simple graph: income vs. alienating the fan base. It has indeed run its course and the curve now dips more towards losing reputation and fans and less towards the income. So the decision was made to remove it: clean, surgical.
The lack of AH will actually entice players to come back to D3 juuuuuuuust in time for the expansion. D3 IS appealing without an AH... because it IS a good decision to remove it, even though the technique was nasty.

PoE on the other hand, I've noticed some decisions I like such as maintaining the IMMENSE dedication - thanks GGG! - and some unpleasantry such as the Razer footprints, or giving away supporter packs as prizes. It's opinion based, but let's just hope it stays on the order of small stuff like this. I think GGG has balls enough JUST BY MAKING POE IN THE WAY IT IS.
Exile is an illusion, exile!

Indeed. I laugh when people see this as some 'ballsy' move, as some 'brave' transformation by Blizzard after an unfortunate Diablo 3 launch.

What, because it took them over a YEAR to 'realise' the AH was not good for the game?

Because it was sure as hell good for their wallets.

The AH experiment has run its course, having made Blizzard 2.0 a small Everest of Cash from the gullible/easily addicted/pay-to-win-attuned PC gamers. Console gamers are not quite so accustomed to that, although I'm amazed Blizzard haven't locked away a bunch of pay-only DLC on the console version of D3. Console gamers are MORE than accustomed to that...

How easily people forget -- but you know as well as I that the moment Blizzard fucks up again, they'll be back on the hate-train.

Just how many chances does a greedy megadeveloper get anyway?

This whole event is revealing just how fickle and easily swayed many gamers really are.

Agreed. This isn't ballsy. It's straight up shareholder value ($$$) driven decision. It was added to try to make money, and its being taken away to make money. Same as a lot of other decisions they've made. I'm done giving them money. They don't deserve another 60$ to find out if they've changed.
To be fair, ARPG fan is another word for gambling addict.

D3 was my first game of the genre. I got it from world of warcraft annual pass. To me, I enjoyed D3 (with the AH) until I got to where it was farm A3 over and over. At that point, all the drops sucked and nothing sold for anything. So I was left farming the same zone over and over hoping for a drop worth selling because we all know it wouldn't help my character. I also didn't like how they kept nerfing everything. I remember dying over and over to invulnerable minions, but I was damn set on killing it and I eventually did. I don't want my character to become God mode because then the game is meaningless grinding. With all the nerfs (some warranted, some not) I just couldn't stay entertained so I quit.

I like the PoE maps system. I'm no longer farming the same zone with the same mobs. I like having different currencies to try to make MY stuff better versus having to find better stuff. I like how I don't faceroll every mob I come into contact with. I really like the direction the developers are taking with this game and so I feel the developers deserve money for what I get out of it and that is why I have bought supporter packs (besides I really needed a new keychain lol).

To be honest, I really like how D3 is shaping up. I really do. The difference is however, PoE is free and still heading in a direction I agree with. They haven't had to redeem themselves. They are a great bunch of developers and I will continue to play their game. I won't even be buying D3 expac despite thinking it will change a lot of things I don't like. Why should I? I am happy where I am already.

It doesn't really matter though. If the game turns out good and you'd enjoy it, you might as well buy it. Because your noble gesture ain't squat compared to the millions upon millions they've already made and will make.

But if it's a personal gesture, as mine is, then kudos to you.

Gamers typically suck at boycotts. They're just too weak when it comes to what's on offer regardless.

Its not a noble gesture or anything. It's based on knowing that I don't really enjoy 'popular' games/gameplay, which is what blizz games are trending towards. AH or not, numerous other changes from preceding games they've made haven't appealed to me.

If they want to cater to that demographic and make money that way, that's fine. Maybe I'll buy it when I can get a few hours of play for $10 or so.

However..I agree with OP.. PoE is really not that different ..loot wise compared to D3.. I understand that gear check is needed in games like D3 or PoE but loot and crafting is so bad in both games, that playing it for some sort of progression in the end game is painful..

I believe GGG should make similar changes to loot drops like blizzard is doing.. also better trading system could help..

but the important thing is, will it improve Diablo 3?

Because it looks like even Krip is jumping onto the D3 hype wagon.
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
I honestly do not understand why they want to remove Gold Auction house. I am perfectly fine with the real money AH since that was some real BS since the very beginning. Players rely heavily on the GOLD AH however, to get new upgrades and to shop in general. It is OK to remove it but serious changes have to be made to the game. In other words, they need add a way to trade outside of the action house. The failed BNET 2.0 does is not going to work for many I take it.

Who knows, maybe Blizz has something greater in the works. Probably in 10 years lol. We will see.

GGG on the other hand is doing fine. I hope they don't ruin this game and try to streamline it too much because of noob qq.

I haven't changed, actually. Go reread that first post, and I say 'reread' because I know you read it and took part in that thread.

The tone is the same. The word-choice the same. I'm sorry if you feel otherwise.

Also, what do I hate? And what do I whine about?

Do you even know what those words mean?

I AM arrogant as hell though. You got that right. :)

It was more about history .. since you joined this community..I remember your posts... People started to respect you.. Even I was somehow shocked with your writing skills ..but when there were time for arguing.. you just can't stand on your own legs.. You even attacked me with F words..which were funny.. but that was time I understood you are just so ahead of your self..

I am playing PoE here and there..sometimes check forum to see what is hot topic these days and not even once saw something from you which could be somehow helpful to anyone.. just me me me.. i am rich...i am arrogant..deal with it and blizzard sucks anyway..no matter what they will do... bet never any real argument..

But i think point of this thread is not your person..
