Can't seem to FOUR link an item.

First off, PoE is a great game and I'm in no way trying to 'bash' it here.

But something feels wrong when I used OVER 100 fusings trying to FOUR link my gloves (ilvl 69).

For me 100 fusings is A LOT. I'm not one of those guys hoarding over 9000 exalts.

UPDATE: I just ran trough my last stack of fusings and... still no 4link. (Yes, I used armourer's scraps.)

Inb4 RNG LOL.

They really do need to change the fusing system, random is only fun for so long.

It could use a rework, I made a suggestion related to jewelers and fusing some time ago:

1 socket - 100% chance to add/link one more socket
2 sockets - 50% chance to add/link one socket
3 sockets - 15% chance to add/link one socket
4 sockets - chance as it is now to add/link one more socket, same chance to revert to 3
5 sockets - chance as it is now to add/link for one more socket, same chance to revert to 4
*** quality improves the chance of success and reduces chance of critical failure

So 4 links which are a staple for most builds is fairly easy to roll, 5 and 6 are even a bit harder then now, however, you can see your progress instead of just rolling blindly and it's equally hard to render your item useless until you succeed, making it more of an effort in line 'I got a couple of extra fusings in my stash, lemme try my luck' compared to 'ok, I spent all my exalted to amass 800 fusings, time to roll a 6 link'.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Some people have more luck with certain aspects of the game than others. I get four links in 3-8 attempts usually but half of my uniques are traded for or race rewards because they just won't drop on their own. :-D
Yeah the crafting in this game is so much fun, I spent 380 jewelers last night trying to get 6 sockets on this

and thats only the sockets, god forbid what it will cost to try 6-link it when I finally can 6-socket it. For a poor solo and self-found only chap like me, this is really a dealbreaker.

The trick is to not get carried away trying to link or socket an item. Patience is what you need, TONS of it, also have low expectations.

Patience is NEVER unlimited, and you would need unlimited patience to really handle some of the bad rng this game throws at you.

I think the idea was always supposed to be that 6l would be a very rare luxury, not something everyone expected to be able to own.

+100 fuses on 4l is just plain nuts.

Which is good and well, but the idea that some people have used 5000 fusings and not gotten one is just ridiculous.

They overdid the dificulty, plain and simple.

Not if everyone has 5000 fusings. They only overdid the difficulty if it's supposed to be something that anyone can obtain relatively easily. If, like I said, the idea was that people weren't supposed to be able to rely on getting a 6l when planning builds, then they got it pretty much just right.

I'm not saying I think the system is perfect, far from it, but I think the problem is as much to do with people's perceptions and expectations as it does to do with the mechanics of the game. You can make a very strong end game build with a 5l, and that's not so hard to get.
