This is the truest and saddest post I have seen in quite a while.

I had 2 simple ideas regarding this because as some people said, 4L is a must after a certain level but aligning 4L with correct colors or base type as well as the needed stats is very unlikely.

Chance to link anything should become better as the item level rises so it would progressively allow you to get the bare minimum more easily. This goes for 5L and 6L as well. That and maybe some sort of persistence bonus to ease up on the currency burning.
If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

but for a 6-link - no way

why not? 6-links can be godly items (depending on the type and roll), but they are just items.
what I mean by this is, if you have lots of characters like I do - 3 of them in late-game and another on his way - and 2 item slots for each that can equip a 6-link (with the exception of good old "7-link" Bringer Of Rain for the helm slot), one 6-link would only get you so far.

part of the entire "risk and reward" concept I wish GGG would add into the game - but they won't - is having maps above a certain level have increased chances to drop either a 6-link, or a special crafting material that can only be applied to items above ilevel Y, giving the following Fusing attempt vastly increased chances of 6-linking.

this - among many other things ARPGs typically do - will make people feel like they are getting somewhere, even if they have the lousiest RNG-slot-machine luck.

and please, don't start talking about what this may or may not do to the "economy".
in fact, I have a strong urge to rip the head off the next guy who mentions the words "economy", "value" or "cost".

Nah, I don't really trade so I don't really give a rat's ass about 'economy'.

I just think a 6-link is a good carrot-on-a-very-long-stick candidate because it's not really needed for most builds. And you got to have stuff like that too to keep people hooked.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Sure, but if that is the case they could at least give the long stick an actual length instead of making it totally random so you can get so screwed by it that ruins your will to play at all lol.

Believe it or not.
I once had a 4s set of boots with one link.
I had 2 fusings.
The first one linked them all. I could hardly believe it.

Now.

Changing the colours REALLY pisses me off.
You could go through a mountain of orbs tryibg to get just one colour to change.

Since linking and socketing does not have "memory", every attempt is "first".

And if only you know colouring rules and do not try to make 6 red sockets in EV/ES armour, it is not comparable to jeveling/fusing gambling.

New orb: Diamond Orb of fusing

Your welcome GGG!

Yep...!!! At least IF and a big IF...you get a Diamond orb you would have satifaction that 10+ hours of farming would actually pay off...

The "I Quit" threads would fade a bit.

This is game is amazing !

The crafting system however is insane!!!!

And what is the deffinition of insanity....???
