Diablo 3 is happy to admit it has problems and copy POE & other ARPGs to improve.

For the record, D3 on the consoles is a lot of fun. Skill system still is weak of course, but with no AH the drops are better -actually reminds me of D2. Now, of course, the drops themselves aren't as good as D2 because the itemization is worse, but the pacing seems right to me so far.

Happy hunting/fishing
How is it important if JW was fired, moved away or whatever.

Players were told they get PvP in the patch right after premiere.
Still not PvP since today.

Players were told they get Mistic (Blizzcon 2011).
They will... if they pay for him (expansion).

Players were told that game is made for PC.
Heh. Despite of all obvious things like 4 players/controllers only, look who new Game Director Josh Mosquiera was in 2011.

It tooks a lot of time earning trust. It needs a few to loose it.

I sure wish my screw ups made the kind of money D3 did and were still more popular than every other aRPG on the market. Just because they didn't make the D3 you wanted doesn't mean they messed the game up. The game was never built for D2 fans, it was built for console and MMO fans and it has succeeded for that fanbase. That is why the AH moves like mad still and why if you visit the forums there are thousands of people posting that have multiple paragon 100 characters and why the expansion will sell better than any other aRPG that has been released did.

Just because you loved D2 and hated D3 doesn't make the game a failure, the game was not aimed at you.

Having said that I would hope whoever did their itemization never works in the business again because that is the one area that was a complete failure~. The rest of it I fully understand why they made the choices they did even if I don't like a lot of them.

re-edit: actually I will add that back, if indeed Metzen is responsible for the story/writing of Diablo III. He's definitely got something to answer for there.

In the end, I think it takes a whole heap of departments and committees and executives to so grandly fuck up a shoe-in like The Next Diablo Game.

Please don't listen to anything this guy says about Diablo 3. Charan is the biggest cheerleader of any individual game I've ever seen in my life. He barely played D3 and hasn't for ages.

I don't think they realise how many feel this way.
And, while this might not be the case with you, for many, probably most, who do feel this way, charging for the expac that contains a lot of what was already paid for in vanilla, is the tipping weight that lies at that side of the fulcrum.

For your earlier edit, yup it was Metzen. That actually really surprised me, because contrary to many, I actually liked most of what he had done until then.
Casually casual.

more please

D3 is quickly becoming the superior game

C,mon, man. It even looks worse than 1996 title, not to mention its mechanic regress in any possible way.

I mean, action RPGs are supposed to be fun, but since when fun = primitive? And that's just what D3 is. Shallow and primitive. You can put a thousand CG clips in it, but it won't make D3 itself any better.

Does anyone ever talk about the elite monsters in D3? I thought it was really cool how they get different mechanics instead of just "oh look this one is faster/more health/more resistance/more dmg"

yes sure imposibruuuuuu mods... all party die.. respawn 100 times... "sure really cool"
Wise words buff -> balance <- nerf , need to happen , deal with it

Here are 'good' graphics from 1996

Here are D2 graphics which are to be honest worse than the 1996 games, D2 had some of the worst graphics on the market.

Nobody with a single brain cell thinks D3 looks worse than a 1996 title. Sure you might not like the art style because it is too bright. As for primitive, it is more streamlined than primitive and those are two very different things. The use of defensive cooldowns was done wonderfully in D3, makes combat more engaging than I ever found in D2 where you exploited the poor AI and chugged potions to be able to defeat anything difficult.

I have a ton of issues with D3 and I doubt I'll get the expansion but at least have a realistic opinion about it. You just come off as someone who didn't even try to understand the game, it wasn't Diablo 2.5 so you hated it.

Maybe cause all single-brain-cell ppl are very busy playing D3 or thinking, that quality of art = number of polygons?

I mean, just look at that:

Yes, it hasn't 3D mambo-jumbo, tessellation and all, but it still holds an artistic dignity. Something that I definitely can't say about D3 visuals.
