Razer Footprints is the dumbest marketing I've ever seen...

I'm sorry, but from my point of view you got it wrong and there is no nail to hit. As you can see I also contributed to the game by buying the Gold and Exalted Packs and I don't feel a dime entitled to it. Doesn't change the fact that it is a free to play game even if you buy tha Ruler of Wreaclast. GGG needs more income that's it. If it was a subscription or retail game it would be different and in game ads would be too much.

So remember something, we are all equal. You won't receive any special treatment because "you" paid. There is no nail to hit.

Excuse me? You're the one talking about how much you've donated. I don't care, it isn't relevant to me, and I never ever suggested my opinion should mean any more than anyone else's on the basis of financial support. You're the only person here talking about that.

What I did say is that there are a bunch of people who donated money to the game who won't donate more if they think we'll end up with more advertising in Wraeclast. Learn to read before making stupid irrelevant comments.

People pay, in part, because they hope it means they won't have to see company logos spammed all over Wraeclast. If they donate thousands of dollars and still have to see advertising spam, they won't go on to donate thousands more dollars.

What?

If you happened to be my partner for business I would end our terms right away for saying something then something else.

Get yourself together.

People pay to avoid advertising, I never said my opinion is worth more because I spent more, you made that part up yourself.

It's pretty much an industry standard at this point. People don't expect to pay money and still get spammed with ads on the ground of their favorite game.

Again, learn to read before taking things wildly out of context.

You made something up, now you're being rude about it. Pathetic.

No they don't, because it's a free-to-play game. You don't understand at all.

1. That's not how to apologise for taking my post out of context and making things up.

2. You're right. I don't understand. They made such a big deal about not compromising on so many aspects of the game so as not to break immersion, then they go and spam adverts in game. I don't understand it at all. It was highly unexpected. I certainly won't be donating any more until/unless there is some reassurance that Wraeclast won't end up plastered in ads, and many others have said the same thing.

Go ahead and flame me. I don't care. All I know is this: These Razer footprints are so stupid. It makes the game feel cheap... like some type of facebook add-on entity. Terrible idea.

Not sure if any one has said it, cant be bothered reading all the posts.

It cant be the "dumbest marketing" it has like a gazillion threads complaining about it, I think it got them plenty of Advertising, I had never even heard of Razer Comms X, until all the complaint posts started showing up, and I would say just about every person that has played the game in the last week now knows about it as well.

The Game is in Beta and free, and if GGG gets a stack of Money from Razer to make it better in the long run by having the funds to complete it and add to it, it is a good thing.

I do not think the Release version will have people with Pepsi logos over there heads running around :)

No money actually changed hands. Chris posted that this was strictly a cross-promotional deal. It seems that Razer has also prominently featured PoE on their own site, which can only be good for increased traffic in this game. =^[.]^=

It's very tough picking which technology partners to work with. We picked Razer because they make good products and are run by gamers. I met their CEO in March, he's a really awesome guy and I feel their company has a similar ethic to ours. Their software works well with Path of Exile and is a great fit for the needs of our users. Their logo is surprisingly suitable for our game world and makes for a cool looking footprints effect.

Rest assured. I think it's pretty clear. Or would you prefer GGG to place a beautiful Header and Footer for sponsors to place their ads? At least you wont see footprints anymore. (Exaggerating here)

By the way, I get spammed on TV I paid for. I get spammed on the street while I paid for my driver's license and car plates. I get spammed on my grocery. It's a lost battle already. Company needs advertisement if they want a place on the market.

That is why I said in the 1st place that people who don't understand that has no clue how life works.

If you think I'm a fool for understanding/expecting that so be it.

OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS--(Reuters - September 2, 2013) - McDonalds (NYSE: MCD), the largest fast food corporation in the world, has announced a deal to acquire Grinding Gear Games, a small New Zealand based video game studio known for its up-and-coming action role-playing game "Path of Exile."

"Research has showed us that the demographics of video game players and the demographics of our customers are very similar," stated Don Thompson, CEO of McDonalds. "We feel that this deal will benefit both of our companies."

"I'm very exited about McDonalds' investment in our company," Chris Wilson, one of the original founders of Grinding Gear Games, said. "This infusion of cash will ensure that Path of Exile will be an exciting game for years to come."

In the upcoming 11.6 patch, players of Path of Exile will begin to see the effects of the deal. Players will be able to venture into a new dungeon named McDonald Land, in Act 3 of the game, which takes place in the ruined City of Sarn. There, they will encounter new monsters unique to that area, and have a chance at finding the mysterious Big Mac Orb.

Kudos for this clever post.

[Mod Edit: Removed offensive comments] As far as Chris backing this marketing move goes, I am pretty surprised that he can openly compromise his ethics like this. It's product placement in Wraeclast. I won't stop playing because of it, but I am disappointed that it's there. If Razer backed PoE up on their website, then do the same for Razer on PoE's website: not in Wraeclast, though...
