You can check number of posts on d2jsp and other rmt sites to know MANY buy orbs, even Krip said he buys exalts on RMT sites coz it takes too long to find one.

I often stop and think that people craft wrong. Everyone wants exalts, like they're the only useful currency (now eternals too) and after that it's either fusings/chromes and some alts/regals.
But now think of it this way, when most players have a good 4 mods rare, they exalt it or eternal+exalt it, but noone wants to chaos a rare 50 or so times. I'd rather get a same base item, alch it and then chaos it a huge load of times, rather than just waste eternal+exalt so easily. In my opinion, exalts should be kept for things like really good mod maps or when you have a close to perfect 5 mod item. On top of that, I still believe that in the end, we'll be divining stuff mostly. People are fine to play lottery with chance/scouring, but I didn't see them play lottery with high base whites + alchs/chaos. Just a bit of food for thoughts. |

" and true to the GGG style, that recipe will require items worth a lot more than 1 Exalt... that's no solution. that's yet another RNG-circular-clusterf*** out of a thousand in this game. currency and item drops need to correspond with area level and monster difficulty. enough with the "dumb randomization" madness, of dropping an Exalt in Act 2 Normal, then never upgrading anything until level 80. of people running maps with multiple characters being piss-poor, while some just started and already have awesome currency. you'll never, ever drop a level 100 Legendary Weapon or socketable in Torchlight 2, in an area that's lower than level 100. this is how it's done. Okay I need to say this because there is a fair amount of misinformation regarding currency, drops and stuff.
In the last 1 month race, after soloing to lvl 70 on the 2nd day with my 2h melee physical (HS/Sweep) marauder, with really good MF gear (100+iiq/200+iir, considering it's day 2 in a fresh economy), my would be party member told me he won't be able to play much. I then decided to screw around with farming. I solo farmed for almost a month, used probably 60-100 orbs of regrets to respec into effectively max IAS leap slam build to do this. I picked up anywhere from 5-20 uniques per day near the end (most of which I vendored), eventually, had many hundreds of alchs, fusings, jewelers, chromatics, more than 200 chisels, half a dozen divines and exalts, 3 6 links and about 20 5 links. I gave all of this away after the race ended. This was soloing and I could've done (can do) much better, oh and I never used a recipe. I did trade a little bit, buying stuff I wanted/needed. No flipping. My party member also picked up 4 exalts in the process of progressing through acts. There is a lot of luck involved, but you can certainly force the issue without resorting to RMT or multiboxing or even partying. |

" mark my words man: if GGG add an Exalted Orb vendor recipe - it will include a Kaom's Heart, Marohi Erqui, Mirror Of Kalandra, Shavronne's Wrappings or any other unique or godly item that's worth at least 10x more than the 1 Exalt it produces, and is a lot more rare. look at existing high-orb recipes for reference. the 3 Chaos recipe and the GCP recipe as just two examples.
