I'd actually kind of prefer it by this point. If you could just post up an item that says "stack of x orbs or this % gem", someone else sees it and posts the gem/orbs then they get the item immediately without having to go in game or for the other person to be online, then that's all I'd want.

The game needs an easy to use trading system of some kind, but it doesn't need to be an auction house.
I still haven't bought or sold anything in the game. Way too much of a pain in the ass to bother with. |

Yes, but with some limitations
1) I (partially) agree with PlaceholderText analysis of post 30 May 2013. However i want to remark that in PoE there is no currency, but only items (orbs are 'standard' items). The high end gear would 'cost' about the average number of orbs needed to craft that item (or similar items). 2) I have some perplexities on how to implement an AH without gold as currency. 3) I agree that if the trade is too much easy it will be bad for the game. We can introduce penalties on using AH, like taxes on the usage of the automatic AH. Another limitation could be that if an item is put on AH then it MUST be sold: the system automatically make an offer (like the vendor), if no one overbid in a certain time (which may depend on the item 'value') then the item is sold to the NPC. 4) ATM the trade system is a PAIN, both for gear and orbs. Furthermore i think that players are overcapitalizing exalted. 5) Maybe auction house could be somewhat implemented to trade orbs. Maybe not a permanent AH: for example day X is reserved to trade Chaos Vs GCP, day Y Scouring Vs Divine, etc... like a temporary stock exchange. Roma timezone (Italy)
