You need to stop looking for upgrades for your current character, and start collecting items that would be useful for a new character. Character swapping keeps the game alive for me, what may be junk for one character may be gold for another. I don't sell it either since I may be trying to buy that same item back one day.

may be iam stupid but do we realy need an OP gear to reach a high lvl ? are 5l weap / armor necessary ? personay i started doing maps with 3k dps (pure phys) 4 k hp and max resist ( thinks to passives (48%) and purity (23% atm) :3

You are going to rare maps with 4L and other crap gear? Good luck

Just to go further in the game , you NEED trading. I've grinded a lot, during months, and if you only rely on drops, well I wish you good luck.
The game will have new act and stuff (I keep this in mind) but actually to somehow enjoy the game and play high level maps you need to grind AND trade.

My point is simple, this game is a real cut throat, RNG based, and you play it to get a great main char, and for that actually you need max each aspect/opportunity you have to progress/farm, both are linked. After that you gonna try other leagues, try builds (every build is doable with the good gear), and other stuff. But seriously who like to grind for months and being unable to have a high level (not top tier stuffed who face roll lvl 90+) ?

At a certain point you need to do high level maps to get xp and better gear, but you also need to have better gear to do those maps. So if you don't trade what you gonna do ? Except that the RNG god bless you ?

For OP, yep I agree in nearly any case you'd better wait and buy (even richiest players buy the items they need, they only spend jew/fus) an item rather than hope a loot or a craft, it will be far less expensive this way (even if all the currency seems to be designed for craft ...).
On the top of that, no AH replaced by a trade chat, serves the same goal but in worse way, the UI is not really nice =) It forces you to stare at the screen (I've doing that during lag/desync periods) and you need a lot of prices knowledge to not get screwed as OP said. Also you have to browse also for a big amount of time the forum, and with no price references every player with price knowledge will tend to spoil new players.

I also think that crafting is way to difficult. It is like you have to buy tons of orbs from a 3rd party supplier. And we don't want that, do we......?

it´s part of the game design. why did u download poe if u don´t like a core aspect of the game, OP?

don´t get me wrong, i like to find my items from mobs and not trading and i play mostly selffound itemwise. but i also know, that it will take me longer and if u need a specific item for a build, u maybe need to trade anyways.

i already found lioneye´s, and i try to find taryn´s and kaom´s. i have a few years planned for that. but who knows, could drop today. that´s the beauty of rng. ; )
