This game has a similar problem as d3- it's impossible to get good items without trading
You mind elaborating on what you think good is?
Talk about ilvls, amount of prefixes/suffixes that rolled what you were looking for, links, uniques, anything else relevant. Be more specific than just saying 'GOOD'. Do good items in your opinion have anything to do with it being sellable? What league do you play in? Do you stack IIQ/IIR? How much do you play? | |
its not impossible it takes time. You get just the items faster with trading and its ofc much faster.
Why you should try Harcore http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/209310/page/1

I wish people would stop being so damn minion-like. The real reason people are whining about this and that is insufficient base gameplay. If gameplay is top notch no one complaines it takes a long time to acquire gear because they want to do it forever and dont want the best gear asap.
The reasons people makes up because they dont understand what they are missing, just know they arent satisfied, its hilarious sometimes. I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.

" If you cant reach higher then 62, then yes, you are bad. That places you in what rank on the ladder? 50k? Is that good in your opinion? How do you do in the pvp arena? |

" Your mistake is the word 'can't'. Everyone has a different idea of end-game. Koivu has one, you have one, I have one. Do not be the fool who presumes their definition is THE definition. ___ How does this relate to the topic at hand? Simple: as others have said -- define 'good'. The OP failed to do so, and my guess would be if they assume it's impossible to 'find' good items, then they're setting their idea of 'good' against some very difficult standards indeed -- likely the no-lifers'. Good luck with that. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" You didnt answer the question. What place are you on the ladder you play? How do you do in PvP? I dont set the rules for the ladder, its in the game. THE GAME's defintion. It relates to the OP in the fact that you cant reach higher in the ladder or succed in PvP without trading. Sure, you can scrub around at the 50.000 place on default and loose 9/10 PvP duels, but that is defintently bad by any defintion. Last edited by Zhatan#4250 on May 16, 2013, 6:29:33 PM

" No, it's not. You're still making the fundamental error of assuming that anyone who has a life or chooses not to claw/grind/trade their way up a ladder when the game isn't even *finished* is a scrub. That is an insult, if my understanding the word 'scrub' is correct. The OP never said anything about the ladder to which you're referring. They simply said that it's IMPOSSIBLE to get good items without trading. That sort of hyperbole is precisely the sort of thinking that puts people into the wrong mindset. I don't need to answer your question because it's not relevant to me. I choose not to engage in that ladder, partly because I'm not very good at high end play and partly because there's absolutely nothing forcing me to. Like I said, if you want to make that ladder your end-game goal, bully for you. But do not impose it on others. It is there to be used and enjoyed. It is not THE standard. This is precisely why the devs have races -- a whole other sort of end-game that involves perfecting your low level precision and tactics over the long-term grind (which most would argue doesn't take any skill if you are willing to play a boring cookie-cutter build, which I most certainly am not) of Default. So if you want to act smug and end this with 'but where are you on the ladder and how do you do in pvp huh huh huh?!', so be it. You will be quitting this game well before me, because your idea of 'end-game' is that inflexible. Congratulations. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

Past level 17, check all vendors every single level to 75.
You can find 5 links in vendor. And stuff to sell for chroms. Just sayin. GGG gives me Diablo 2 Teleport? I give them 50 bucks. No questions asked.

If your goal is to make really cool builds using hard to find uniques then ya this game is tough on people who don't exploit or play 24/7. Finding what you would need is very unlikely and trading for it also requires good luck because its not exactly simple to get a ton of exalted orbs.
Standard Forever

" So now we are back to the "I have a life" excuse? (quite standard for ppl who do poorly) You dont answer the questions because you know I am right and that place 50.000 is bad. Scrub is another word for bad, take it as an insult if you want but its just stating that it is bad. Most of the time you can only make a character in the 2 standard ladders, hardcore and default. If you get any rewards for racing, its as items for those 2 leagues. So yes, they are the defintion of the endgame here. Not my defintion, but the one coded into the game. And if you ever want to do good in the leagues you obviously play, you will have to trade for items. Because it is impossible to find your own gear and still be competative. (in the league you made you character and by the rules it imposes) And if you dont like PvP, thats up to you. But the fact is that if you want to be able to do good in it, you will have to trade. Because again, you cant find gear to compete in it. |
