One's use of grandiose and overbearing language may in and of itself be a clue that one is basing one's belief on a foundation of a less than solid basis. And to wit:
I enjoy this game, as do very many others. We are neither masochists or "clinically insane." We may, however, be more patient than some.

yes Courageous, I suppose that was a bit over-the-top of a statement :)
but you see, my personal opinion right now is the game is not fun.
addictive? yes. but by no means fun or rewarding.
"rewarding" not only in terms of loot, but in terms of feeling your effort is worth something as a player.
why am I still playing? because after almost 30 years of gaming, I developed the nasty habit of trying to beat every game I start playing. and in RPG/ARPG terms - I don't leave a game until I've done all there is to do in it. and even then I come back occasionally - like I do today with Diablo 1 and 2 (including LoD and Median XL) and Titan Quest: Immortal Throne.
the first and only ARPG so far I remember I didn't bother finishing, was Diablo 3.
Path Of Exile is doing all it can to attain the "honor" of being the second, it seems.
EDIT: @Xpire, maps giving back nothing is just another by-product of the almighty unfair and totally-random numbers generator.
when you base so many systems on the same foundation, and that foundation is bad - you are more than likely to mess-up all said systems.
my main character in Default is level 72 btw. and I'm currently leveling a Ranger in late Cruel, a Witch in mid Normal and a Hardcore Templar in late Normal.
if I played nearly as much as some of the in-game friends I started Open Beta with, I would probably have a level 80+ main char by now.

The claims that the game is too hard/requires too much time investment and people are "forced" (at gun point, presumably) to go the RMT route are disingenuous. If people cannot have fun in this game without breaking one of the scant few rules that exist, they should leave.
that's your inner elitist talking.
there is a huge difference between a hard game and an unfair game.
a hard game can be very fun.
case in point the Median XL mod for Diablo 2: one of the most unforgiving and utterly insane ARPGs I ever played.
but that game would award you with good loot and means to progress, each time you proved your gameplay skills and beat a crazy Uber-Level or a near-invincible boss.
and what does Path Of Exile do? give you trash loot upon beating Piety on Merciless.
make you return empty-handed from a map and lose both your time and currency investment.
make you wipe-out after 40 Orbs Of Fusing trying to 4-link one damn bow, losing your currency and rendering said bow useless...
that's not "hard" - that's "anti-fun". I can't even think of one person who'll actually enjoy such a design, and that includes the masochists and the clinically insane.
Call people elitists, masochists, and clinically insane all you want. No one will give your ideas any attention until you stop doing so.

Yes, ignore people's valid arguments because of the verbiage they use. That sounds like the profound arguments of a very reasonable and rational person.
Thank you for proving that the game is NOT in a great place now, Mr. Moderator.

If it takes you 50 fusings to make a 4L then you should probably just quit the game....
I've spent anywhere from 1 to 60 fusings for a 4l. I'm sure there have been players that have spent more. RNG is RNG. Thanks for contributing.

Crafting has nothing to do with the orbs themselves. If you double the drop rate on everything no one would be pleased spending over 1k fusings trying to get a 6l. If your only argument is to make crafting more rewarding you should be going after items rather than orbs.
My point with rich getting richer isn't that they'll just have 100 mirrors. It's that these guys are all chasing top gear, just like everyone else. These guys have orbs to just throw around so people still looking for shavs who are rich will put higher bids on them. Look at those new unique gloves, thundergods or whatever. They weren't an hour old and already some people were bidding over 25-30 exalts on them, next day they are selling for 10. You give these people more orbs to throw around freely prices for all god level items goes up along with that drop rate. I'm sorry but I'm grinding my balls off to be just above poor, I don't want to find out the items I'm chasing are going up in price rather than down.
Even with maps, the reason they are so expensive is they are so unrewarding.
You are ignoring the roots of the problem and just saying make the drop rates higher which will create more problems while not addressing what you are trying to solve.
It's not a good solution.
If fusings are twice as common, more players can spend over 1k fusings. Do I like that fusings are completely random and arbitrary and non-cummulative? Do I like that if you've spent 2k fusings and don't have a 6l that you're no closer than if you spent 0? No, of course not.
But that's not what was being discussed. What is being discussed is whether or not a higher orb drop rate would encourage people to spend orbs instead of simply hoarding them as currency. As an extreme example, ask yourself, if Exalteds were as common as Augmentations, would people be more or less willing to use them on their items to try to improve them? I think the answer is quite obvious. The solution isn't perfect, but it undoubtedly improves people's willingness to craft.

Sadest part about this thread is that most really just wants discussion about how much of a no lifer the OP is rather then the problem Itself. Sure, It's not cool to use RMT, It's cheating. But thats not the point. The point is that end game continent is currency. (Or just that some guys are just here to troll and are the retards of the internet. Lovely life you guys must have.)
You are a rare gem, sir or madam. Thanks for actually understanding the topic.

it's much worse than cheating - it's real-world scamming and exploitation. it's the sale of pixels for cash. it's something that must be stopped immediately.
And a game where the drop rates are so exorbitant for what they want to accomplish that players have to resort to scamming and exploitation is a game that needs fixing.

So? ban buyers to pull the rug out of the market. Make new alt account just to RMT? track where the currency was transferred to, whether transferred via trade dropped then picked up in a PVE instance (same instance seed), ban the main.
So person A owes person B some exalteds. Instead of earning it legitimately, person A buys them and trades them to person B. Person B gets banned because they think he's person A's main.
Sounds legit.

@johnKeys Dont think you got my point. Endgame is currently currency and works around currency = bad.
Its good to have RNG in a game but letting the Endgame become based on RNG is just such a terrible idea. For so many reasons.
Atleast at how it works now. The one who says otherwise probably likes to gain 1% xp each run of a map and likes to waste all their currency that they've farmed for hours and hours to gain. CRAFTING should be the currency sinker. NOT MAPS. Not as much as it is now though.
Not sure why you "called me out" on that considering the only thing i do currently is whine and rant about how bad it is and how it makes me fade more and more away from the game. And I'm a solo player now aswell considering my friends have quited so i have a even harder time to substain maps and currency. I got good gear sure, but i dont want to sell my gear just so that i can play the endgame content. Thats just..

I can't stop loling at initial post.
This guy must be trolling or something.
You are bored of playing until level 100? Dont do it
You can't try other builds because you focus on your main and prefer to level to 100, and then after doing it you will be tired? Well, it's your problem, not PoE problem. I play a character normally in hardcore until, 70-75. I finish the game, and then, I do a couple maps or so, and normally prefer to try a new build rather than leveling until 100 in an INCOMPLETE beta game. Maybe if game got 10 acts and monsters till level 99, then I would try to make. But not in the state.
But the main problem is not in the game, is in the minds of guys trying to level to 100 desperately, and doing things they dont have fun with.
Same with currency. If guys dont have enough and requiered patience to play without a 6L and without 8.576 exalted in their stashes, then there is their problem. I'm fine with just my 10 exalted, and I'm having a lot of fun being so poor.
As I said, the problem is not on PoE. Stop trying to make developers change the game for you, or for your minds. Because with your mentality, you guys sooner or later will be bored anyway. So let us play the game as it is, its just fantastic.
Just learn to play in other way, less greedy. Or maybe try poker.
PS: this is also a beta. Your "mission" is to provide feedback to developers and at least you did it in an educate way. If you guys play this as it is the real game and leveling to level 100 and paying for currency, imho you got a serious problem.
But for me a guy that hide himself doesnt deserve even attention. Be a man if you are someone real. If you dont do it, and use a secondary account, you just are a troll for all of us, and your opinion means just ZERO.
Regards.
