Simply enough, for you "top elite players", don't play 14 hours a day, and then you won't need to buy "100's of chaos" daily, or spend 1000-2000 dollar on RMT ffs.
It's still a game, yet you say it feels like a job, something is wrong there, obviously, but not with the game, instead with your playstyle.
Why in the hell are you telling him how to spend his free time? Who the fuck are you? What does your stupid comment have to do with op? You are a completely useless human being.
Op complains that he doesnt like the way he plays, then complains that he plays that way. The most efficient way to play a game probably isnt going to be fun, but I know that I am having fun. So you and op are the trolls here.

The only reason you are in the "top tier" is due to these factors, therefore, I wouldn't consider you "elite", just another PTW no-lifer.

and a lot of people have stable jobs, or no other hobbies to put money into except Path of Exile. expendable income is still expendable income, not matter what you buy with it. you're the same kind of person that whines about Justin Beiber. don't be jealous.
also, some people are just rich.

Our largest problem with the Map system is that high-level experience gain is gated by a system that was designed for gating high-level item acquisition. We are 100% happy with how maps work as far as the item system goes (and are amazed by how much even white items from the highest maps are worth), but we're not happy with how it affects players who are trying to grind for the highest spots on the ladder. We are considering some potential solutions (experience equation changes, ways to access maps for experience gain rather than items, etc).
"
Currently, Act Three Merciless extends up to level 64. End-game Maps range from level 66 to level 77.
Many players like to grind The Docks before heading into Maps. We're completely happy for grinding areas to exist - it's fun to have some relatively mindless play options when you don't want to have to pay close attention to surviving difficult Map content. In addition, it's nice to have play options that let you accumulate wealth without spending any (Maps are expensive to craft correctly). Grinding the Docks isn't totally safe though - we frequently see dangerous boss combinations kill players.
Unfortunately, once you hit level 70, you face an experience penalty in the Docks. By the time you hit 73, you face an experience penalty in all non-Map areas because you're too high level.
These penalties mean that players can only get to level 79 in non-Map content (assuming they repeat Piety runs) before they're getting a 75% reduction in experience gain.
In addition, most of the high item base types are only available from Maps because of their levels. This means that players don't have much of a chance of getting items such as Kaom's Heart or Lioneye's Glare unless they play Maps.
(cut out changes that just occurred this patch)
(I still feel that we need further changes so that players trying to reach level 100 have options other than Maps. That's something we're still researching, but it's outside the scope of this particular change.)
From GGG. Really would be nice if people were to respond to what GGG has said (whether in agreement or against it and why) instead of bringing up arguments made months ago as if we're still back at March.
There's a fraction of players who like consistency and predictability: killing boss X will yield item Y.
This game really isn't for people like that.
This game is for people who'll do the same area over and again because they know..., a Mirror can drop anywhere, anytime. - CharanJaydemyr

You sir completely missed the entire point of the thread and I believe you do not possess the mental capacity for another explanation. This thread has nothing to do with me and how I play, it's about the game, the community and the health/longevity of the game.

The solutions you suggest wont change anything. They will only make the "top" a different standard. You'll still be competing against others to achieve some new arbitrary goal. You're asking them to break their game so that you can play a different one. Go play a different game.

So anyone that doesn't play Ninja Gaiden-core can't have an opinion? Some of us evolved from Battletoads to rpg's in the 80's and early 90's, but it's nice to see that evolution left some of you as monkeys. A famous rpg saying is "death is only the beginning", but you think that rpg means stick another quarter in the machine. The "superiority" that you think you have by playing an rpg like Ghost Busters is just you looking stupid to true fans of rpgs/arpgs. Maybe next year when you turn 8, you will start playing big kid games.
