What the Hell Happened to Gamers?
" Well, over half of the initial players for PoE 2 realized that PoE 2 is not for them. If they are complaining about it now it is because they are not busy playing a new PoE 1 league. I don't think PoE 1 players are going to go away because PoE 2 development is actively killing PoE 1 development. Maybe PoE 1 can be saved by killing PoE 2. Steam recent reviews are "mixed" now. Some people like to go on about how PoE 2 is only in early access but everyone is getting GGG's true vision for the game. A vision that is unconstrained by PoE 1. A vision that is filled with slot machines all the way down. I hope that ascendancies eventually become random. PoE 2 deserves it. Gutting Gameplay Gradually

" Naw .. You run trials , and at the end is a button, you push it and a random ascendancy token falls out. Then if you want that token , a timer starts and you have 2 minutes to escape a dungeon filled with ArchNemesis mobs. The ground is on fire , frozen , electrified, covered in oil. It also uses the honor system and every floor type drains it. If you die you lose the token and 50% of your exp points. If you dont have any more exp for that level , dont worry , we dont take the level away . You just go into exp debt, you will go negative , and will need to repay the exp before you start to gain again .... Last edited by Jitter912#4278 on Apr 6, 2025, 8:10:19 PM

You know , this new game direction is inspiring me.
I have new idea for a game. Its called "Sackers" You are blindfolded and your testicles are placed on a freezing steel plate. Then Wild animals will be brought in and will stampede across your nuts. The contestant will then need to try to identify what animal it was. Dont sleep on this GGG Im going to do it, im going to make it! Do you think GGG could get me with copyright ? |

" I never said Palworld wasn't successful—I'm saying its success didn't come from those 'weird, funky crossovers,' but simply because it's a Pokémon rip-off riding on players' dissatisfaction with Game Freak. If those weird combinations really worked, why is it now down to just 50k players? PoE 2's peak was around 580K, far higher than PoE 1's, so by your logic, you'd still call PoE 2 successful if it ends up with only 10K players next year, right? Would you be happy with that? |

" Not sure what your argument is. Everyone here is saying that ARPG/Soulslike don't mix. It's clear that games can have successful crossovers, and often do incredibly well because of it. There are literally hundreds of examples of them. Some of them are considered some of the best games ever made. Not sure why a game has to have 200 thousand players or something a year after launch for it to to be considered a viable example for you. Stop and think for a moment, why you're trying to argue this with me. You literally messaged me after I gave some good examples of weird funky crossover games to counter the argument that a weird funky crossover arpg/soulslike couldn't work. |

" I messaged you literally because your examples of 'weird funky crossover games' were off-point. Their success didn't actually come from those combinations. Palworld's success stems from being a Pokémon rip-off, riding on players' dissatisfaction with Game Freak. Balatro succeeds specifically because its lightweight, fast-paced, and fun gameplay, not just because it's a unique combination. That's exactly why Palworld can't maintain active players sustainably during its EA, while Balatro won TGA. Looking at the Steam player retention and discussions on this forum, currently PoE 2 clearly lacks universally appealing gameplay to retain its player base. But if you really want a crossover example, there's 'No Rest for the Wicked,' an actual ARPG/Soulslike hybrid that's struggling. |

" Ah. Well then maybe you can give me two examples of weird funky games with crossovers that you agree with. Otherwise, I'm going to just assume you're here to be right. No matter what's said by me. You'll find a fault with it. I'm not going to have a discussion unless we can set some goal posts in the ground with concrete. Not going to try when they're moving around. Aint no Rest for the wicked. Is that a good example? What about another? Why is it struggling? Is it because it's an ARPG/Soulslike? Or are there other reasons? GGG needs to redefine what an ARPG can be instead of adhering to a crowd of crybaby power fantasy gamers who want an easy ride and 1 hit screen clearing.
an ARPG does NOT have to be that way. they could expand far beyond the diablo audience and create something special if they ABANDON that degenerate simple minded mentality that ARPG ''gamers'' enjoy |

because they are wimps. gamers have never been so coddled as they are now. games used to be challenging in the NES era. Now we have people angry unless they are ZOOMING and clearing screens. It's pathetic.
I am bored out of my mind when things get too easy in this game yet it seems these crybaby gamers aren't haven't fun in either case. at least i have fun when things are a fair challenge. these gamers just enjoy watching loot drop and have some personal satisfaction of feeling like a god. like they suffer from low testosterone or whatever and are over compensating. i don't know what the real issue is. but these ''real men'' seem like real babies to me with all the complaining and whining. for zooming to be the meta and the expectation.... just seems really Weak to me. for a grown man to want an Easy Ride. it's weak. " I saw a lot more crying at launch and after 0.1. Crybabying is annoying, but it's an indication of a passionate, involved fan base. What's happening now is that people are stopping. The subreddit looks sad, with repeated requests for Jonathan and Mark to post streams of them playing and demoing builds. That sentiment is more dangerous to a game than people screaming at it. It might be part of the reason GGG is putting out so many hotfixes to "reduce grind." If they keep implementing hotfixes, I'll probably log in again sometime tomorrow. But I'll need to see more than they've done right now. |
