D2R is way better and more fun than PoE 2 currently is yeah. Personally I re-downloaded Titan Quest Anniversary Edition and played it again. It's like night and day, imagine making an actually fun game instead of Ruthless 2.0 cbt simulator(PoE 2).
If some big changes don't happen fast then this game is doomed. Just waiting for 3.26.
Sadly Titan Quest is this much of grind for gear too. But far less punishing. Also those ragdoll ♥
Yeeah its definitely a grindy game, I just play it because I enjoyed an old version of the game years ago. And with some qol mods in the steam workshop you can actually make the game feel like PoE with lots of mob packsize, increased exp gain and increased loot droprates. That and the "very fast" speed setting in the options menu makes the game fun even after all these years.
And yep those ragdoll physics are fun indeed lol

in this game you need to farm for your gear and step up bit by bit
That is part of the problem though. It is way to uninteresting to be so slow in the campaign. Doge roll is poorly done. Should have continued working on the game more and had more expansive closed betas before EA. First impressions matter. They know this and implied as much in the interviews leading up to EA. Otherwise why slap some PoE1 end game mechanics on in a hurry just to be able to get the money grab out the door?

But it still manages to be worse than Diablo 4
Why I left D4 and will never come back:
1. Ugly visual effects
2. Ugly sound effects
3. Useless terrible open world
4. Monsters scaling with your level
5. Number of monsters types is super small and many of them are lazy designed.
6. Shittiest itemization in ARPG history.
7. Boring boss fights
8. Boring combat
Why I'm still in POE2:
1. Perfect visual effects
2. Perfect sounds effects
3. No useless terrible open world
4. Monsters don't scale with your level
5. Number of monster types is insane and yet more to come, most are designed super well.
6. Good interesting intemization easy to understand (at least so far)
7. Super interesting boss fights, best in ARPG history
8. Super interesting EARLY GAME COMBAT with next-gen steps like skill combos.

Have to disagree with OP, main reason being in this game you need to farm for your gear and step up bit by bit, while in Diablo3 and 4, you get a full set directly on reaching max level and it removes all the farming in a loot focused game. Another problem I have with D4 specifically is also that there are many builds, which you can't use because there are no items for them. Instead season by season there is a "in season" meta gear setup provided by blizzard themselves.
While PoE2 has issues, like the broken armor stat, OS crashing problem, unbalanced skill gems and uniques, it is still better than D4, a lot of leway with the fact that it is first release in EA and over winter and new year they have not had time to work on any major patches.
While I really hype for PoE 2, I really don't mind if they delay it to after new year if everything is a mass like this. Everything new (beside graphic) in PoE 2 is so unpolished and rush. It's feel like it not even have good number of alpha tester.
Slow in, slow out cuz I'm just a player.

As you may have noticed, POE 1 and POE 2 is somewhat different from your other ARPGs. In other games, you might be able to progress to the highest difficulty even if your build is all over the place. In POE, this will be highlighted severely in end game because (refer to your complaints). Hard doesn't equate to being shit nor does it equate to being bad. When something is "not fun" for you, did you ask yourself if "did I do everything to fix my build?", "did I understand why was I one shotted?"
To those saying artificial this and artificial that, what is even natural and artificial in a game? If a dev team made the game and launch it in EA, doesn't all system and penalty encompassing the game when it was launch in EA is "natural"? If you are having a hard time on something or having difficulty coping up, that is not "artificially difficult"
If you think about it, "anti-player", "anti-fun" or whatever you want to label it is not really appropriate in a game when it is a business. POE simply made a stand to not lower its baseline difficulty. You don't want to put the effort to learn how to play POE? then you get your result.
You think you’re the main character because you follow some build guide or excel spreadsheet. LMAO

Doing that now. The Unity Client update patch dropped today. I think it helped performance a good bit.

The whole endgame of this game reminded me of why I stopped playing Diablo 4 at launch.
The endgame is full of oneshots, common mobs simply deleting layers and layers of defenses from any character. Elemental resistance is basically useless, armor is useless, HP is useless and even harder to achieve in a high amount.
Horrible loot and with idiotic affix systems, where high-level items still have the possibility of having affixes of the lowest possible tier.
Warrior is an entirely useless class and less tanky than any other class. Even though that makes no sense at all.
-
But it still manages to be worse than Diablo 4, because at least there, I didn't have to spend more than two or three weeks to find an endgame boss or item for that boss's map, and only have one attempt and fail, because everything in this shitty game has to be a oneshot.
And being forced to spend other weeks farming for just one miserable attempt.
---
If I have to go through the whole situation of Diablo 4 at launch but even worse, no thanks. I'm going back to Diablo 4 where all this shit has already been fixed.
This made me chuckle.
There is SO MUCH about this game that is puzzlingly "rage-quit" fodder that it's kind of crazy.
Just SOME of the bigger things that need to be addressed/removed/changed:
1. Exp Penalties
2. The horribly implemented "ascendancy trials" that have nothing whatsoever to do with the ascendancy you're trying to get/progress.
3. Mapping is the ONLY end-game activity (even in POE 1)
4. No travel powers/mounts
5. Costs for respecs instead of free respecs and an armory of some kind to quickly switch between builds
6. The ability to skip the campaign to get to end-game during leagues
7. Stop making us slog through repeated maps... yes they say it's temporary that we have to repeat mirrored acts 1-3, but they said the same thing in POE 1 and we know how that went...
8. Add an actual trade system in-game. I can't believe they ported the bandaid they implemented in POE 1 for trading. How lazy.
9. Bot bans (which right now and for the first few weeks of every league would be roughly half the active population)
10. Hardcore style maps (die once, you lose)

Main character? Following some build guide? Well, I can't help it if you can't comprehend what I posted.

I will absolutely go back to S7, and I don't even like that game, at least it's a game. This is a maso experiment.
