Releasing the game in this state and then going on holiday was a poor decision.
"There you go , fresh from wiki if u are unfamiliar with the term "Early Access" From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article is about the video game industry term. For the clinical drug testing term, see Expanded access. Early access, also known as alpha access, alpha founding, paid alpha, or game preview, is a funding model in the video game industry by which consumers can purchase and play a game in the various pre-release development cycles, such as pre-alpha, alpha, and/or beta, while the developer is able to use those funds to continue further development on the game. Those that pay to participate typically help to debug the game, provide feedback and suggestions, may have access to special materials in the game. The early-access approach is a common way to obtain funding for indie games, and may also be used along with other funding mechanisms, including crowdfunding. Many crowdfunding projects promise to offer access to alpha and/or beta versions of the game as development progresses; however, unlike some of these projects which solicit funds but do not yet have a playable game, all early access games offer an immediately playable version of the unfinished game to players. |

" That's nonsense. EA is not some specific definition of anything. Each developer decides what it means in relation to their game. On Probation Any%

lol they just disappeared and left it burning like the trash it is. What genius made this decision?
Meanwhile, accounts get hacked and the game still freezes PCs completely. Last edited by mobblz#4115 on Dec 30, 2024, 12:27:00 PM

God another one of these?
Sorry, but no. It got released in a somewhat good state, it got better with the number of patches and hotfixes, and it's going to get one of the first major updates in the coming weeks (if GGG is to be trusted with major updates monthly). With it being (maybe not even) a 1/5th of the final game, it is good, and once finished and polished, it's going to blow out of the water anything that exists and has ever existed in the genre. Is it perfect? No. Plenty of UI/UX quirks, plenty of strange mechanics and plenty of design choices that I hope leave some wiggle room for change of direction. Also some things show they were done in a hurry just so they can release in 2024 without any more delays. Do I fault them for that? No. It was a no-win situation. Either delay till January or later, or just go for the green light and let it out. I am fully confident that once they are back at it, it's going to get going very, and I mean very fast. From fixes, to updates, to new stuff, to major changes. Nothing is impossible. And also no, I don't always agree 100% with the choices they make, with the changes they do or with the shit they come up with, but in the end it always somehow works out. TL/DR - They fucking deserve a time off after the cruch they had to go through to release atleast something in 2024 or face the wrath of the gamers. - You being loud, pissy or feeling entitled doesn't mean jack shit. You paid or got gifted a chance to be a alpha/beta tester - You didn't pay nearly enough to go around and be telling them when they can or can not have a vacation. That's Tencent's job and you don't have that kind of money or influence 🤣 |

I'd also like to take this opportunity to shill my soundcloud ...
Spoiler
Nah JK. Fuck that shit.
In all seriousness, one thing I don't believe, and I would love to be wrong - full release in 6 months to a year - yeah, no. I've watched the whole PoE2 lifecycle and I bought into PoE 1 in 2012. How long did Fall of Oriath come out after paid access to PoE1 ?
Spoiler
"Hint": It came out 5 years after I started playing
I don't really believe in miracles, and while I often adore the dedication and ability of GGG to "get shit done", I don't see it. I say two years at the least. That is all. |
