The Palpable and Uninformed Hate and Dismissal of POE1 Veterans Sounding the Alarm is Worrying

Let's take a look at Ruthless shall we:
-Item scarcity
-Seemingly weak atlas passive tree in that version of the game compared to the normal one(just like the atlas passive tree in PoE 2 with its 3% packsize nodes etc.)
-Removal of Movement Skills, everyone just has 1 bad Dash with a cooldown and it barely went any distance(just like Dodge Roll)
-Many parts of the game are harder simply by the fact you get less gear
-Gems are hard to come by, because the vendor that sells them was removed so you had to rely on Uncut Gems from quest rewards to get your deterministic gems set up, after that you're at the mercy of RNG to quite literally just drop the gems you need off the ground.(the scarcity of Greater and Perfect jeweller orbs in PoE 2 means you're stuck on a weak skill setup until late endgame, just like how you're stuck on a 4-link and 5-link at best in most of Ruthless)
-Slower gameplay just for the sake of it being slower and more tedious, creating artificial friction that bored players so the mode remained the most unpopular one in the game. Tediousness =/= Difficulty
-They also tested out Gold in a small Ruthless event with MTX giveaways and a free mystery box at lvl50 btw

PoE 2 absolutely has Ruthless game design in it atm. This is just a fact, backed up by all the things listed above. And the most funny thing is, it's even worse than Ruthless. It's just full of questionable design choices. Which is why so many long-time players have concerns.

To be clear I said POE2 is WORSE than ruthless. Its Ruthless Squared. I accidentally messed up the quote in my reply to this guy.
You don't get to dictate the way the devs want to make THEIR games. You sound entitled. This is their vision not yours

This kind of gatekeeping and chasing players away is exactly what is going to kill PoE 2 lmao

You guys are literally trying to gatekeep PoE2 from existing. A lot of us have been waiting forever for a game like this.

You know who has been waiting longer and actively investing in PoE2 as a game than you? The veteran players. I'll say it again, I think there are way too many people who don't have a history with the culture of this community who just jumped on the hype train and are flooding the forums with opinions that lack the perspective that, in my opinion, is necessary for the stage that this game is in atm. Early access should have been released in stages starting with people who were invested in the PoE community, maybe some extra keys for their friends, and then the player base should have been increased from there. Probably would have avoided a bunch of the server issues we have dealt with this way and it certainly would have made the ability to review the incoming feedback more manageable.

I did give it a chance. poe1 is a brain off game. Zooming around the map and spamming one or two skills. I don't like that in games. I ended up playing it as a second monitor game while I watched podcasts.

The combat was boring. The campaign sucked. The boss battles are good in maps though.

I figured I'd just wait for poe 2 to come out. At the time the combat looked vastly superior and I was right. That's why I don't want poe2 to be turned into it.

poe1 exists for people who like that playstyle. POE2 is different. Stop trying to change the core concept of the game. And I have no problem with dedication when I like games.

And here lies the problems.

MOST gamers that play POE are 30+ years. Most of them actually have lives besides POE. Like me, they have a challenging job, family, wife, and a house to take care of. All things that NEED brain on.
And even though we do enjoy a challenge and difficult content, we don't want it constantly. Maybe we like the game to be 75% brain off while watching a podcast or having a conversation with your missus, and then 25% full focus for endgame bosses and the really beefed up maps.

Do you know what that is called? Balance.
I get you want constant vigilance, because you probably live a life where the only challenge you have is in a video game.

Try getting a house, a hard job, and a family, with a crap ton of responsibilities, and come back and tell me that what you enjoy in your spare time is constant stress and challenge.

Yep ... this. :point_up

Saying that without any actual logical arguements might be dishonest either. Loot scarcity, reliance on craft (even without crafting bench), removal of any travel skills, regenerating bosses that are actually strong, dodge roll with a different name and animation, somewhat limiting players to 1-2-3 (at best) link builds that were comboing skills till reaching maps or merc lab, weaker ascendancies that are harder to get, slow atlas progression, reliance on league mechanics for league loot and a huge investment to start seing them at least reliably, no divination cards for gamba, no enkindling on flasks, only automatization (which is the same as current charms). The only thing that was actually damaging to CURRENT state of ruthless is that not so many people are trading, but on the other hand the economy cant be destroyed if you had none in the first place.

poe1 veteran player

POE2 is very different from POE1 for now. I don't mind it; it has an evil charm to it. Of course, there are problems, and well, well ... :D

Personally, I don't see myself playing more than 1-2 characters per league.
Since the campaign for me is too long failing a build feels bad.

Another point for OP.
I am already back to D4 and Grim Dawn. POE2 actively hates its players, no loot on death, re spawning enemies, slow movement, giant maps. Just the start of the BS at play here.

Pretty much and its people self snitching their knowledge on what ruthless even is as a game mode.

You dont get quad tabs full of loot in mapping from ruthless or multiple exalts, alchs, or anything like that.

You dont get to even choose your own gems lol

Its so telling on people saying that poe2 is ruthless, or even worse, people that THINK poe2 is

Shows how little knowledge or experience these players have with ruthless.

OP go read up or... actually play ruthless before using that term as you have no idea what you are talking about when you say POE2 is worse than ruthless

New account, private.

Yet another point for OP.

All these Kripp viewers that have never actually played the game themselves, man.
