Floored by the power spike of TRADING. This will ruin the game.
....It really should not be hard for anyone to understand that the existence of trading is detrimental to anyone who doesn't use it, and that SSF is not a valid solution to disliking it.
People like to say things like "other people trading doesn't affect you" but that's objectively incorrect. The fact anybody is trading affects everyone, because the traders set the game's balance. Imagine that a monsters power level in a game without trading is 100, and a player is expected to be at power 100 when reaching it. Balanced. At only 50 the player would be underpowered for the fight, and at 150 they would be overpowered. Then trading gets added to the game, and suddenly massive amounts of players are reaching that boss at power 300 because they have trade-maxed loadouts. The only thing the devs can do, is rebalance the boss so that it assumes you're fighting it at power 300, meaning it is now power 300. Meanwhile, players who aren't trading, are still only power 100 when they reach that boss. 200 power levels beneath it. They are very much affected. That's the first problem with SSF. It doesn't have changes to account for the lack of trading, so rather than being a "I don't want to trade" button, it is a "I want to be blatantly underpowered on purpose" button. A person who plays ssf can literally, accurately, tell you that you are making their single player game more difficult when you trade. The 2nd problem ofc is that wanting to be in a league/ladder where nobody trades shouldn't require also forgoing the ability to play co op with your friends, or the occasional public group. Plenty of people who want to play in a self found league still want to play with other people. I would definitely try playing a self found league that let my and my friends group up. I'm not playing a self found league that makes me tell me friends we aren't allowed to play together. SSF in isn't so unpopular simply because of the lack of trading, but because of those two problems. Balancing and friendships. Some sort of group self found would be more popular than ssf ever was, and ssf with systems to help the balance issue by improving loot to make up for the lack of trade would be more popular than the unadjusted version. --- It can be considered unfortunate that one of the most effective pieces of advice for PoE 1&2 is that if you're playing a game that has brought in a trade system, and is therefor balanced around it, you need to accept that fact, and trade, even if you don't like trading. If you are at all averse to the situation of being severely unpowered, you cannot, or at least seriously should not, consider trading optional. Not trading in a game with trading is like doing a soul level 1 run of a Dark Souls game. You can, and it's an achievement of challenge, but there's no real point other than intentionally making your life more difficult. In the event your distaste of trade is strong enough, and you're not the soul level 1 run kind of player, well, find a game without a trade system. If I hated trading, I wouldn't play PoE at all. If I actually liked it, I'd do it more, and I'd have stronger characters. I have to accept that my characters are weaker, and the game harder, because I don't trade as much as is expected. Not weaker than other players, that doesn't matter, but weaker than what the game is balanced for, which does matter, as a result of those players. What a thread...
OP do you understand that fun is subjective? Whats fun for you is not necessarily fun for everyone else. The thing thats fun for you for which you advocate (not trading) is already in the game for you to enjoy (by not trading). If you read the forum feedback you will be pressed to find a lot of people sharing your view but you talk about a vast majority of players who share it. Where do you take that impression from? Also where do you get the impression from that poe2 is supposed to be vastly different from poe? Its surely not the same game but its still not what you make it out to be. There are a lot of builds than can reach good dps and do the content fine and fast. What you enjoy isnt necessarily what everyone else enjoys but lucky for you, you are free to play the game how you find it most enjoyable. " Yea sure this is true, but OP didnt sound like "remove trade and instead buff the drop rates", they sound like "remove trade.". D2 i believe was never really balanced around trade with its drop rates and still people did trade because they did not enjoy the low drop rates of runes and such. People did trade to have more fun with D2 not less. |

" Sounds like what could have been a tremendously fun and popular game, catered to a small subset of power users and traders. I don't see the fun in power users dominating a market, in having to find some "niche" by becoming a master of some mundane task, and that will give these users power in the market. Do you not see how these admittedly niche players and all this design detract from what could have been a well tuned and fun experience? More and more I'm waking up to what GGG are trying to do with POE 2, and I hope that comes with restrictions to trade, and allowing the players to enjoy the core experience without power players trading and seeping their intense farming into everyone else's experiences. I'm pretty new here, but I have a lot of faith in these guys, the game shows potential and more than competence. I'm sure they'll find a way to make most everyone happy one way or another. " D2 vas very much balanced around trading. It made playing the game online a completely different experience from playing it offline. Yes people have more fun with D2 if they trade because it is balanced around trading... |

For me trading makes the game more enjoyable, hell the worse crafting is the better does trading feel.
I really look forward to the next poe1 season Farming salt on the forums since 2024

I think vaaling items should be more worth it. That way there'll be less items on trade and finding your own things is more exciting.
Personally I like putting things on trade because I might find a good melee weapon I can sell and buy a spell caster wand instead. |

" Osu! Watshi mo. PoE 1 season will be great! Looking forward to it. I really miss the crafting and the crafting bench. Doing currency by utilizing your knowledge with good crafts is a nice thing. You aren't forced to just mindlessly farm maps, you actually have options there. |

The main issue right now is there is no way to build tanky enough to guarantee survival in t15 maps. If they are going to enforce this 1 portal per map rule they need to allow players to feel safe juicing their maps to the fullest knowing they cannot die unless they really mess up. As it stands you can be killed by 2-3 hits from White mobs

" no, it was and probably still is the most fun and successful arpg game ever made. sounds like you need to stop projecting and start actually listening. " who said you had to find a niche? people enjoyed finding a niche, they lived for it, they couldnt wait for the next league to get into that niche and they spend 1000s of hours doing it over a decade. YOU might not find that fun, YOU are not everyone. stop projecting yourself onto other people. if YOU think playing without a market is fun then guess what? you can play the game without ever interacting with the market. its not for you, its for the other people who do see the fun in it. some people paint pictures for a hobby. some people buy pictures for a hobby. some people paint pictures and sell them as a job. some people buy pictures and sell them as a job. some people are specialists in the market of valuable antique paintings. some people are collectors with 100s of millions of £ in their painting collections. not everyones in it for the same thing, no ones stopping you painting a picture just because some other guy is restoring a caravaggio masterpiece to be shown off in a gallery. you do you m8. " no. it was a well tuned and fun experience, it was the best arpg that has ever been made for both self found and trading players and that was proven by its long term success. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
