Again I'm reminded of a quote from George Lucas about the Star Wars prequals. He was asked why he thought the prequals failed and he admitted that he made them for him self, the way he wanted to tell Anakin's story, and the story was personal to himself. He said he ignored his audience and he failed because he should have given his fanbase a movie that they expected a star wars movie to be.
Or something like that.
I thought that it was Jar Jar.

Wrong. They had the same "vision" for POE1, tried it, failed, and succeeded when they listened to the playerbase. They tried again with Ruthless. I hear some people play it.
And one more thing about this "vision" thing I see here and there. With all due respect to GGG and the awesome work they did through the years (and also in part in POE2, even though I'm not sold if the game stays this way), I don't care about their "vision", and neither should you. I care about playing a game I enjoy, and that can sustain, improve and expand over time. POE 2 in its current state isn't that in my opinion.
You and many people disagree, I don't know if I'm in the minority or majority, and that's ok. But at the end of the day, what matters is the kind of game YOU like to play, not whatever the developer has in mind. It is absolutely the customer's prerogative to express discontent with what they're being sold (especially during beta, it's the whole point!). Defending their "vision" is the developer's business and ultimately I don't care one way or another.
Go ask Todd Howard, he could tell you a thing or two about "vision".
Wrong. Up until recently game developers never had as much contact with their player base until now.
Before this the developers had a vision and executed it. Testing as much as they could internally to give a quality product.
Why do you feel that a bunch of people who don’t make games for a living have better credentials than those that do?

Care to point out where I am incorrect? Prior to “forums” many years of game developers didn’t get input from thousands of people on how to make quality games, other than if it sold well or not. And if it didn’t sell well it’s back to the drawing board.
How are you not understanding this?

He's probably very young and you made the mistake of using the words "up until recently", which for him, probably means last week.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

So smiley faces and answering a question with a question is your response? Gotcha.

This game isn't dark souls lmao.
Its hard because your gear is absolute garbage, just go buy some on poe trade for 1ex. You can buy a weapon right now for any class any build for 1ex that will literally let you kill every boss in acts in less than 30 seconds. Buy some resist gear and now instead of 90% of boss attacks one shotting you if you don't roll, only 10-20% will.
Game is made significantly easier through gear, and you have an official trade site and extremely easy p2p trading that facilitates that. If you want a soulslike expierence, play SSF, but don't play tradecore/standard and just refuse to trade for some inane reason.
I would trade if I had currency to trade with. I am in act 3 I had 3 regal and 2 exalts I tried crafting on a good Pure ES base item from vendor (+83 life, +38 Spirit) I got +19 dex, thorns damage, and +113 Accuracy. On a Pure ES base for my Sorc character.
Now I have no currency and it took me two entire acts to get what I had and ended up blowing on a bricked item.

Their vision for PoE1 was a ruthless d2 like experience. They obviously didn't succeed with the vision if they changed it.
Never played POE1 so I can’t speak to it other than it having a consistent player count.
Diablo 1 had a vision, after that the creators had a vision for Diablo ll and it succeeded even more.
I have faith that they are competent. From a long time fan of Diablo, playing the beta of POE2 is jaw dropping on the difference in quality of what they have done with this game.
DO you know why they changed POE1 from their vision? Turns out it was not what the playerbase actually wanted. Hell even when players clamored for a return to something like it years later in PoE1 and were given ruthless, even the people that praised it quickly abandoned it.
Keeping your vision of a one off game that you don't plan to support for 10+ years is doable. Even if it fails, as long as you have another successful game, you can recoup. Staying to your vision on a game you expect to keep constant content updates going and thus needing ample funds being produced is much much less financially smart. You have to adapt and change your vision to keep chasing the money that you need to continue your support of said game.
