10% XP loss Death Penalty Feedback!

POE1 also had it, and it was fine there, getting to level 100 should be something special.

Death should have a consequence, even on softcore.

Ho I don't know. No clue whatsoever. Ask Tofor.

I'm trying to understand your perspective. You seem quite invested in XP loss, Do you mind sharing?

if you're dying a lot, your build sucks and you don't deserve to progress

You are whats wrong with the community. It's nothing to do with dying a bunch. If you spend hours grinding and gain minimal exp, then 1 single death just completely wasted all that time. It's especially bad with the cheese 1 shot mechanics and on death effects that are near impossible to see when surrounded by mobs, especially on an alter.

Seriously the "get good" crowd are only going to piss off the majority of people who don't spend 10 hours a day sucked into a game. This game can appeal to both but apparently some players are so full of ego they can't stand the idea that someone with a life and a job can progress.

Never played poe1? Most builds are fine in a good chunk of endgame post lvl 85. I didn't even really notice the xp loss mechanic until now anyways, and it doesn't feel really different than in poe1 except with only one portal you're not suckered into losing ALL the xp using the other 5 portals trickling down a boss/area you're prolly not geared enough to fight in the first place.

Yeah you should also spawn into the game at level 100 and with a headhunter. This would make it way more fun.

Not when the game has cheese mechanics that are only countered by cheese metabuilds. Getting surrounded instantly by mobs then dying to something cheap like on death effects is bad enough on its own when you lose a map, it's just pure frustration when it causes you to waste exp which may have taken hours.

Seriously, it's not fun for anyone who doesn't spend 12 hours a day on the game. Some hardcore players who have no life don't understand this, but from the sounds of it there's a large percentage of the community that is just stuck up and ego driven and they can't stand the thought of a casual player actually progressing in the game

This might not be your game. There are others tho. Golden age of ARPGs. My bro is the definition of limited-time casual dad gamer and he's loving it.

1300hp has nothing to do with 71% evasion. Evasion doesn't reduce damage taken. Start there to improve your build, knowledge, or gameplay.

You aren't entitled to reach level 100 ; especially if you die that much, and if dying angers you that much.

What makes you think people are dying constantly?

Hummm, let´s see, 1300hp is kind of a good hint. The game has some problems with 1 shots mostly in T15 maps, but alot of people crying for XP loss removal i see are running around with less than 2k hp and barely any defenses, if that's the case it's 100% their fault, XP loss been in PoE since forever and was even higher than it is now, and will not go anywhere, it shouldnt go anywhere period.

These posts date back to 2012.. its never gonna change.

Improve, change your approach and methods, use the Omen or just stop trying to run maps you clearly aren't capable of running.

It's simple the XP death penalty is so you learn, without it, you will never learn what is wrong with your build.

POE1 had the death penalty except you had 6 portals you could use... that means 10% per a portal if you attempt to keep running that map. That's 60% in one map. Here they prevent this by closing the map after the first death. Which in itself is to humble you and make you realize that you probably are not ready.

The death penalty went from being just EXP loss and eventual map loss after 6 attempts to Exp loss, Map loss, Item loss.

Not sure how any veteran thinks this is fair, because in exchange, we did not get a massive amount of item quantity or anything like that to make up for it.

The current system is shit and will kill the game.

Not sure who this game is being made for, but ruthless isnt fun now.
