PoE 2 Is For Tourists
After watching the dev videos before launch, and hearing explanations, I think the loot is on purpose being on Ruthless levels to get us to test all the combat mechanics/synergies without cheesing the game. It is early access after all, and I get the feeling that loot will not be this scarce heading into full release. Early access intention is to test systems, just my opinion.

I probably played PoE1 for 3000 hours or so. But it was in the early days, like start of open beta to around 2018. This game for me is what I always wanted PoE to be. Feels like a mix of D2/PoE with great action combat thrown on top.
With how big the areas are I'd not mind a buff to base movement speed, but I never want PoE2 to become the zoom fest PoE1 became. Everyone that wants that can stick with PoE1. |

It's Early Access.... Why are people still making posts like this? If it still sucks (in your opinion) on launch then come make this post. Otherwise this is a waste of time. There will be sweeping changes across the board a number of times.
Btw I'm not saying there aren't valid complaints here, but rather than just complaining, give some critical feedback. e.g. A is bad, you guys should try doing B |

" Do you really want the solutions to be designed by players with 0 game design experience? It's common knowledge that players are good at finding problems but generally not good at coming up with solutions. If i go into a restaurant and don't like a dish, i would be extremely concerned if the chef started asking ME what needs to change with the recipe. They are the professional, they can take the criticism and come up with their own solution (or decide that no solution is needed). This is just a way to shut down criticism because it makes people feel something other than positive vibes. GGG does not need you to protect them from negative feedback. " Thank you. I tried POE1 when it first came out and had technical issues with it and moved on, I play mainly shooters so there was other stuff to play. I went back and tried it again before D4 launched for about a month. I liked the systems a lot and the passive tree....but overall the game felt so meaningless because it was relatively mindless spam in the story where I got up to. I understand this is not endgame, but there was not enough there to keep me interested. D4 .....ended up where it is today and also not worth playing. I am glad this is not like POE1. This game still has my interest like the first never did. So what if you die? Learn from it. Mindless blasting is garbage levels of gaming, when the power is not earned. I don't have a problem with someone figuring out how to get there, but it should not be handed to you for showing up. And D4 is a case study in failing to understand this. Sure this may not be what POE was....but why is that bad? Taking risks and doing things outside the norm is how you evolve. Last edited by Irres#4128 on Dec 9, 2024, 6:34:00 AM

I can only provide my early feedback. I played 1 day with a friend, and one day by myself in my short daily breaks. Ive seen content on three accounts up to A3 - thus i was not in the endgame. I understand it is early development. We died also on once in a team in A3+, and once in A2+, but we didnt read much about the updated version, skills etc. and just moved in (in HC mode). With controller it feels like smooth gameplay, and the new campaign, UI etc. and the slightly reduced? freedom for skill selection seem to help new players.
The feedback between friends around me and myself are however totally different - and thus my opinion is kindof split. They never really got into Path of Exile 1. They prefer very action oriented gameplay, and dont like to read about something before having success. For them POE2 is still a bit complicated and they write in various forums currently about simplifying it far more on the skill tree, that the crafting is too tedious -> maybe that may even attract the masses. They felt A1 was too hard, i could really live with it for hardcore. For crafting -> recommendiations which i heard were -> just have a blacksmith with three tier upgrade option -> almost a group of 20 ppl whish for that. I think, scour, alterations (to roll magic) would help, a crafting bench as a topping but maybe that makes it for below posts again far too easy. I felt crafting is too random (my personal opinion). Why did i like POE1? Options, complexity - and to tinker around with items and skills; i can even enjoy longer crafting sessions or hunt for chase items, minmaxing etc.. When i played through the initial three acts in SC and HC in PO2 - i thought where is the crafting bench? Why is no jewel socket close my starting position? Why do we have only so few currency. Where are the vendor recipes? Where are support skills i used to use and why cant i combine these with skills i used to play. Is there spellsuppression on skill tree? But these may have been wrong expectations. As its still quite early, things will or may change. Nevertheless, in a very abstract manner i even prefer POE1 skill tree currently - werent there far more diversified options or am i blinded and too stuck and stubborn? in POE2 i ended with mainly attribute nodes as resistances were too far away, ive played either with gaps or tried to fix them on the field with spamming augs and transmutes, and the few regal i had. In addition on the route were some damage nodes and i needed those otherwise bosses took ages (which is fine). Its what others also played so its probably kindof ok for the class i used. Now ppl tell me its far more action oriented gameplay -> where is the difference between dodge and flamedash? Roll Roll Roll, Skill, Roll, Dash, Dash Skill. This is not the difference. Graphic is ok though. For the current state of delivery i could live with copying POE1 into POE2 campaign but not other way around and i would not pay a single cent anymore for the second part. But its early development, things may change and im just one of millions. Think of D4 success, it took also a moment; yet it was hyped. I had a comparable situation with D3 and D4 - im a relict eventually, not part of the broader mass which is targeted. In contrary - i didnt play alltogether 1 Month in D3 and D4 - and i spent A DECADE in POE1 (lost my old account) and D2. For the ones which never wanted to achieve a lvl 100 in hardcore, never killed any of the uber bosses, or which never tried ruthless or SSF, tastes and opinions about what a game was or could be will ever be diversified and have a different focus - some speedrun, some dont. Nevertheless, im sure out there is a core who liked POE1 as it was, and who were capable to create builds which sustained endgame.I can play POE2 with a friend on his PS5, and have fun! yet - i seem to miss something. I played PoE in its beta days - didn't find it particularly very appealing back then, later tried to have another run in... 2018, I think, using a friend's account; and I was really appalled by the direction the game has moved since early days. Beta was rough, but PoE1 in 2018 was way too twitchy and braindead.
However, I'm absolutely digging PoE2 and I hope to see it prosper for a very long time. |

Don't worry, as the meta progresses and more stuff gets unlocked your streamers will give build guides so you don't have to whine about having to use your brains while playing video games anymore, you'll be back to blasting the game with someone else's build while refusing to learn the actual game just like before.
PoE 2 being more demanding mechanically just goes to show that a lot of PoE 1 players never bothered actually being good at the first game either, they just used someone else's build to essentially skip the game. Feedback of those players is essentially worthless because they genuinely don't know what they're talking about because they refuse to actually play the game. |

I've pretty much played every poe 1 league, and it just got more and more boring over the years.. It's never really engaging, because the game got too easy.
I loved when i was xp farming in docks before i got to endgame, i met so many friends doing those times, havn't made a new friend in poe1 in the past 4-5 years.. The difficulty of getting from a to b made my character matter more. I can't praise poe 2 enough. I love everything about the slower pace. I'm only at the end of act 2, but this feels like a game with a soul. People have gotten too used to the dopamine easy fest in opinion. White mobs are tanky? What builds are you playing? I'm playing a crossbow monk, and i'm doing just fine, it was hard in act 1, but act2 i easily kill white mobs. Do remember that It's early access, they'll for sure tweak things, so please don't call for outrageous nerfs before the player base actually 'get good'. People are already destroying maps, and we've only just begun. 6 classes left + act 4-5-6. We'll get shit ton of content and abilities and people are already whining.. It's gonna be another game entirely in about 6 months, i freaking love it. I feel bad for those of you who need a massive amount of dopamine to enjoy a game. I guess i'm a masochist for loving this game. Luckily my whole friend group loves the game too o/ xD Last edited by Ferablekeft#0586 on Dec 9, 2024, 7:18:37 AM
