Everything that made PoE 1 great is absent or understated in PoE 2.
While the enthusiasm around the game is huge, it is much like the initial wave of Diablo 4 players. Diablo 4 retained approximately 2% of those players after the vast majority finished the initial campaign. Most didn't even stick around for season one.
It really sucks that you have a community who absolutely loves PoE and rather than leaning into that and giving them more you decide to go in ... whatever direction this is.
Everything is too slow. It's not respectful to the player's time.
Loot doesn't exist. I dropped one unique in 30 hours.
Respec is still prohibitively expensive and would require hours and hours of grinding to fully accomplish.
Crafting doesn't exist. YOLO Slamming is the only method of crafting that exists outside of a tiny pool of very rare essences that can still be bricked by subsequent yolo crafts.
Ascension mechanics were somehow made worse by making them sanctum and a juiced up, even more broken version of ultimatum.
The vast majority of my deaths over 30 hours were getting frustrated and walking too far forward and getting pinned to a wall by enemies.
Bosses are cool, but unrewarding to farm past the first win.
Support gems are dropped far too sparsely.
Jeweler's orbs are far too rare.
I think I dropped like 5 alcs in 30 hours.
This basically means even yolo crafting OK gear is difficult and if you decide to change your character you are screwed.
Nobody wants to grind levels just to get through the acts.
I watched streams to see if the "endgame" was worth pushing through for and it looked terrible. Basically just the same thing where you come out of a map with two magic items and four wisdom scrolls (which are even more pointless than before)
Hope you all made your money off the wave of early access buyers, because your core audience who spent thousands of dollars because they loved and wanted to support PoE 1 won't be buying anything for this game.
My genuine recommendation is to unrelease the early access and take another year to completely rework the game and implement the things which were actually fun about your last game unless you want PoE 2 to be a ghost town before Q3.
get good buddy and maybe before you make a comment...you should have listened to GGG for weeks before EA when they said the game is NOT going to be poe at all lol they didn't leave you behind. They made a game for another type of playerbase and for us who enjoy these kinds of games...its a smashing success.

They just lied to you about the game being "challenging" to make you believe you have gotten gud and accept their bullshit mechanics... the game itself is EASIER than PoE1 because making a busted build is very streamlined and easy...
the problem is that the game is a bad iteration of a top down Elden Ring instead of a looter ARPG...
the game is EASY... got it "buddy"? it's EASY... the problem is that it's fucking BORING because the game never rewards the player with good drops, you wear the same old gear for 10 and 20 levels in a row and the whole game is designed around the bullshit dodge roll and nothing else...
And every time I miss-click and die cause I made a mistake after 25-30 minutes of not being hit once because the game is EASY despite what bullshit you've been fed, then the game decides to punish me by forcing me to redo boring and unchallenging bullshit, killing mobs that don't drop anything and therefore I have zero interest in killing them...
The game is not hard... it's BAD!!!

Problem isn't drop rates. Low drop rates are camouflaging the actual issue which is that there is no endgame and it's basically built to be a campaign run type of game.
Crafting was oversimplified and the game just doesn't work without that. Without that it's like every other failed ARPG that is a gold grind combined with praying for god drops.
So basically this is more complicated Last Epoch.
Last Epoch lasted 1 real season.
They cannot fix the problem with this game by bumping up a number.
Also it's already easy. There are just a couple points that are stupid if you aren't on a meta build and the gameplay is generally unfun once you get sick of it. It will take time but people will get really tired of clearing 1000 packs of white mobs to drop currency that basically allows them to pick up yellow loot with extra steps.

It's not about the gameplay being bad (it's good).
It's not about missing content.
It's about taking many steps backwards in depth and customization on a fundamental level. Meaningful build decisions replaced with raw gear gambling and predetermined skill combos.
Look at how boring the passive tree is.
Look at how they backpedaled on their new vision of supports being interesting mechanical modifiers.
Look at how every skill and many supports are locked down with extremely strict weapon restrictions.
Look at how they constantly said they would not remove the depth, and then they did.

It's also fixable, but we would have hoped that they figured this out already after 5 years of developing PoE2 and over a decade of experience learning from PoE1.
I am a new fan and have not followed the development progress until very recently. What are all these things you're mentioning that they promised and backpedaled on?
1. They said they would keep the freedom to make all kinds of different builds but as it is now because you have to make skills "synergize" the options are EXTREMELY limited because the skills that synergize are stupidly obvious and if you want your build to be worth anything you have to follow that very very streamlined path...
2. Support gems are very very cookie cutter... they are extremely obvious in terms of where each support gem works and they leave very little to the imagination... again... making build crafting very very single-minded and obvious to "help new players" which is bullshit cause what they mean is that "we don't trust new players to have an IQ"
3. This game will be about very very few meta builds and nothing else because of it, so all that "freedom" they talk about is bullshit. This game will have very little replay-ability if you know exactly how every class plays by playing it once
4. The whole "craft your own weapons" is bullshit in a LOOTER ARPG... yeah, you can craft which is good and fine but looter ARPGs should be based about LOOT RNG!!! As it stands right now there is no RNG... you can tell that white and blue mobs have 0% chance to drop a rare item (no RNG) and that any meaningful loot comes ONLY from elites and bosses which means that all the rest of the monsters you kill have ZERO meaning... this is NOT a looter!!! This is a bad iteration of a top down Elden Ring wannabe game...
So yeah, people that have played PoE1 loyally know EXACTLY what would make this game great because they've been there and done that... and the great thing about PoE is the FREEDOM TO BUILD and the freedom to make your own theories with tons of options to theorize about... this game doesn't have any of that since if the skills don't synergize in the most obvious way they don't synergize at all...
So the "newcomers" before they start spitting bullshit like "git gud" at PoE1 veterans and tell them "this game is not for you, leave"... just let them make you understand WHY this game is SEVERELY underwhelming!!!
This game not hard... it's boring and tedious...the game is EASY, "git gud" and "skill issues" have NOTHING to do with... the game's problem is that it revolves around making you do unchallenging and unrewarding things again and again for hours in a very bloated and unnecessarily long campaign with minimum loot and nothing to get excited about...

All poe2 did here was made me appreciate all the systems in poe1 even more, in its current state alot of the systems in poe2 would need a massive overhaul to even come close to poe1 standards.
Anyone saying or stating otherwise is just lying to themselves.

How do you even know that? and more of the same, if you wanna play poe1 why not play poe1? don't worry you didn't aster your money you can have your 30$ of mty in poe1, let us that enjoy poe2 play, and no, I'm not a new player and I know what I like and will come back for sure.

I fully agree with everything you wrote, but i could add even more, the gem system as a whole is very bad, fusings and gem xp were so much better, also the WASD movement is really ass but u are forced to use it since ur required to move and attack to even do any damage to some bosses, the ROLL mechanic is also extremely bad since it doesnt work as a movement ability, its just there because you have to use it to not get 1shot by any of the 2 million slam mechanics, i really hope they wont stop developing poe 1, cause that is where ill be playing
