Feels like a scumbag moment from GGG

I had to double check to make sure I wasn't going crazy but you *do* get 300 points with the $30 pack. You don't lose anything.

Except it's not. GGG makes damn sure that it's effectively presented as a major new release. The hype, the content previews and all activity centres around December 6th and not some vague release date in the future. GGG knows damn well that players don’t want to wait so they’re leveraging FOMO in order to sell what's advertised as free-to-play.

It even says on their website "EARLY ACCESS STARTS DEC 6TH".
Since when EA = actual release? You guys can't read fr.

How are you missing out on anything by not playing the beta? Fear of missing out on playing an incomplete game devoid of half the act content/classes/skills/weapons that will be riddled with bugs. What?

Sure they are hyping it up because it's finally the chance to show the general public what they've been working on for the last 5 years. They can't pretend it's the finished article because it's clearly not.

The issue isn’t that it’s incomplete, of course it is, and will likely always be under development, technically remaining incomplete forever. The real issue is that they’re charging players for it now, disguised as early access when it's supposed to be free-to-play in the first place. It’s a classic overhyped FOMO sale while hiding behind the excuse "we're not finished" as a shield.

For a pay-to-play game, charging for early access makes some sense as they borrow revenue from future sales, but for a game that's supposed to be free-to-play? Not so much.

Yes, they’ve been working hard, and yes they want that to taste that sweet revenue, but then just swallow the pride sell the damn game as-is. Don't pretend to be this charitable company that's offering a game that's free-to-play for everyone.

And let’s be honest, if you’re okay with this, you’re basically accepting that future free-to-play access equals paid access.

You're a choosingbeggar, just like OP.

They did the same thing back when POE 1 was in beta. You can always wait for the full release or when the game goes open beta and not pay a single dime.
this guys just an alt account of the op surely, but quite a good troll streak with as of now 9 pages of "discussion" well baited.

They did the same for POE 1 Early Access, so this isn’t a new approach. The $30 fee is entirely optional and only for those who want early access to the game and to support its development. If you feel strongly about it, just wait for the full release when it will be free and probably more polished with fewer bugs.

GGG has always been open about how they handle these things. They’ve delivered decent, f2p content for years without introducing p2w mechanics. They’re one of the few companies left that truly care about their players and the integrity of their games.
Don't try to hold it, flow with it.
Arguably, you get the value of the currency to use in PoE1 or PoE2. So while access to PoE2's Early Access requires consideration, you're still getting primary value out of the fake-money for the full amount paid.

Come on, you can agree or disagree with arguments presented, but still, be honest. EA = released, in the last decade or so. You know it, everybody knows. Let's not play with words.
An abysmal view on early access. Simply await the full release if this presents an issue for you.

Just because it was done in the past doesn't make it right now. GGG started as a small garage company and desperately needed funding in many ways. The game has since grown into a much larger project now owned by a multi-billion-dollar company. Charging for early access now undermines the original free-to-play promise.

GGG has now engineered a situation where paying becomes the most practical choice by diminishing the free version without technically abandoning their free-to-play promise.
They could have done the Blizzard thing and charge you $100 for 3 days early access, but they didn't.

Not only are going to get early access for your $30, you also get 300 store points (worth $30) to buy whatever MTX you want.
