Feels like a scumbag moment from GGG

It's always mind-boggling to me that we live in a world where people will spend $15 for a Frappuccino and a sandwich at Starbucks without blinking, but they won't pay $15 more for hundreds of hours of entertainment. Really sad.
thanks

ah i wouldn't go that far to say exact. closed beta was barely playable, clearly meant for testing, then open beta was more what we get with EA, even tho it had 0 end-game. EA has endgame and looks like a fully playable game that needs tuning- so i would say it's even more finished than open beta from back then, which was free

Because they switched priorities not long ago, it wasnt supposed to have endgame at all. You shouldnt expect it to be any more playable than closed beta of poe1 was. The scale is bigger because company got bigger but its essentially the same thing. The fact is we are still missing more than half of the game, it will be buggy as hell and everything is subject to change. This is meant for testing. People just got some stupid, unrealistic expectations.
at least it’s for longer than 3 days. the fomo trash battle pass 3day early access while we ramp up servers to acceptable levels stuff from the bad b’s is cashgrab. this seems more like try our game for 6 months while we finish it. you dont have to, but you can. at least you get mtx currency with it

It's purely for people wanting to support and help GGG make the best game possible. If you don't want to pay then just wait until it releases and it is free. It is painfully obvious that people who love GGG will want to support them and their vision. Such a pathetic take on early access.

i mean, with this rationale almost any game is free if you wait long enough

Depends if the company allows it or not or if the company dies or not. It can be that a game is never abandoware.

well i wasn't here where the game came out of alpha but i think it was just one infinite level wasn't it? again i would say that EA feels at the very least like PoE1 open beta start from what we have seen already. in which case completely dismissing OPs argument is not in good faith.

It is more of a closed beta and his argument is just pure entitlement. We had maps added during closed beta actually. We may get open beta later on, we will see. EA lasts for 6 months and the game will launch after another 6. There is plenty of time in between so anything is possible. The amount of content the game has during EA doesnt mean anything. Feelings are just that, not facts. EA is EA not a release.

maps being added in closed beta is a bit different than having them at the beginning, together with atlas, tens of bosses, 300 mobs. i don't know why you are not able to see that the amount of content in EA is dwarfing closet beta start, and even open beta start, depending on how playable it all is in EA, which i think it mostly is. not sure where entitlement is coming form since he is not saying the game should be free, but rather commenting on the fact that its being passed on as free-2-play

Because again, company is bigger so the scale of the game is also bigger. The amount of content is really not relevant to what EA is. The game will be free WHEN ITS RELEASED. His entitlement comes from the fact that he wants closed beta be an open one. Thats not how things work. The game is not out yet, its simple as that.

hmm so now the amount of content/play-ability is irrelevant? i thought closed beta was only about testing... anyway, i haven't read any of his later posts, but OP doesn't say anything about what should be or should not be free. it simply commenting on the fact that its being passed on as free-2-play

Yes it is about testing but the amount of content tested is not relevant at all. They could have even full game ready and still have closed beta to just iron out bugs and balance. Again it is free to play but its not out yet. It will be out next year. What is hard to understand here?
Nothing unethical about this. It will go back to the F2P model at launch.

bugs and balance is still being ironed out in PoE1. I feel like its you having a hard time understanding OPs argument, unless you choose not to understand it, and try to pass it on as entitlement, which is kind of a buzzword these days.

They are not being ignored, they just dont have priority over other things. We get constant patches every single league. OP's argument is stupid, it literally is entitlement. Its trying to push this wrong narrative as EA is the release. Its not, no amount of mental gymnastics on your part will change that fact.
