Feels like a scumbag moment from GGG

I am fine that game is not a F2P and costs 30$
I am not fine that people keep saying that game is F2P eventho it is not the case for years already.

| Oh, come to PoE, it is free to play game, here is your 6 free stash tabs and one quintillion items to store there. Oh, you can't store everything to progress? But we have a stash tab sale here, just take a look!
🤦‍♂️
PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fan-made fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.

This is an absolutely terrible take. They are creating a vast game and this is a great way to continue to fund their work. Very simple, straight line logic.

It's all about the principle. Players don't appreciate the bait-and-switch feel of these practices, especially not when "free-to-play" is plastered everywhere but doesn't align with reality.

This isn't bait and switch. This is EA for half a game. It will be free at launch. I knew I paid for half a game. $160 no less. It's been plastered everywhere and in every interview.

You want to see B&S? Go pay $250+ for a ship in Star Citizen EA and watch them change the concept the patch after release because "oops marketing"...

I've paid $40 since 2013. Never had a problem as a mostly casual.

F2P is not the same as "free" in today's market. PoE is absolutely F2P, but certainly not "free" if you want to do everything the game has to offer without some annoying workarounds.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
Funny thing that for some people think everything should be free. Did they think that developing game is free aswell and they aren't allowed to ask money for game they have been developing and spending time and money for?
If u want to play the game for free, wait till its released or pay 30$.

That doesn't change the fact that people are paying to access what is clearly a functional and playable product. If the "complete" version won't have a price tag, why does this version that players care about suddenly cost money?

At the end of the day, actions speaks louder than labels. If it looks like a launch, feels like a launch, and is marketed like a launch, then it is a launch.

This isn’t early access, it’s monetized access, carefully crafted to avoid accountability, and no amount of semantic gymnastics can change that.

It may not be playable, even account wipes are not out of the question. This is closed beta afterall. Its not "suddenly", players literally were hoping they would be able to buy entrence to closed beta and it wont be random draw, streamer only or some other bs. This was also the case with PoE1. Why not open for everyone? Because that would mean a full release of incomplete game. Its very simple to understand. It is early access and doesnt matter how you would like to twist it you wont bend reality.

Game is incomplete, will be buggy as hell, will have constant, maybe even daily changes to pretty much everything be it drops, skills or classes. This is payed access to those that want to help to iron out the problems it will have tons of. Thats what EA is for, not to just play the game. Your entitlement will not change what it is. It doesnt look like launch and is definetely not marketed as such.

That's a bandwagon fallacy. Just because some players are asking for specialized stash tabs and other features to pay for doesn't automatically justify them, or paywalling access to the current playable version.

The "buggy" argument is also flawed as the developers could simply choose to let players access the game for free during early access, as many free-to-play games have done in similar stages.

Given how much game GGG are releasing for PoE2's Early Access, and how good it looks, I don't think they're out of line in wanting to limit EA access to people who are willing to support them. It also has the benefit of limiting the strain on the servers, which will still be crazy high but not as high as it would be with no limits in place. Other developers often give early access away for free in order to ensure that enough people are playing to make for a good test and player population on the servers. GGG don't have that problem; if anything, they have the opposite problem.

They'll transition from the "closed beta" of Early Access to an "open beta" or free release once they're sure everything's stable and that the servers are ready for the additional load. People who want to jump in early can just buy a beta key; I don't think they'll regret doing so. If you truly can't afford one, just keep an eye out for whales and streamers who are giving their extra keys away.
Stay sane, exiles!
next time they should do what diablo did and charge 100 bucks but at least we know we get a good game XD

I'll pay 100 for EA to a company like ggg over blizzard.
23 pages of this nonsense? Geez.

If you don't want to pay, wait until the full release.

If you can't pay, people are literally giving the keys away.

Be happy with the love and care GGG put into this thing. We are going to play it for a decade.
