Feels like a scumbag moment from GGG
They are defending it because "it is a good game". If they don't like the company I am sure they'd be against it. Hence why I say that there are no principles at all

" The amount of bugs in POE1 vs POE2 will be insane. I haven't had a crash in POE1 for the last 10 years and we are expected to crash many times with POE2 in just this early access. Are you honestly expecting a relatively bug free experience. Every streamer had a bug or so when they play tested it. This is no tin the same league as current POE1 when it comes to buggyness. |

" Scope has nothing to do with anything. Game being F2P after release also has nothing to do with it. I will defend it because its not shady in any way, shape or form. Thats how it should be handled. " No. How it is handled is the reason i will defend it. I will support good bussines practice any day of the week. The same way i supported Pal World, Helldivers 2 or Soulstone Survivors. " Wrong, much has changed and how poe1 and 2 have been handled are completely different. There was no EA of Poe1, there was a closed beta and wasn't sold on the steam store. It wasn't mass marketed and hyped up for 4 years ahead of release as a free game and then had a price tag slapped on it once it went live in steam, unlike poe2. POE1 closed beta was under NDA. And after that everyone had access to the open beta of POE1 for free, unlike now where poe2 open beta has been renamed early access and had a price tag slapped on it. The Fact is that GGG has hyped the fuck out of this game, as now we see games media and paid shills being given early access ahead of early access for them to hype it even further and sell more packs. If the game wasn't mostly finished, this wouldn't be happening, as negative reviews due to bugs would likely torpedo the game. Let's not pretend this is anything else other than GGG selling POE2 as a paid game and pretending it's F2P, and I don't blame them given the amount of dumb ****s that were willing to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on games like star citizen. I'm betting poe2 spends well over one year in Early access, as GGG has no incentive to release the game for free when people are paying to play it. |

" There was a closed beta for the PoE1 Oriath expansion in 2017 which included paid entry through supporter packs. We can discuss the semantics of expansions versus new games but fact is this isn't a new concept for GGG in terms of business practices. I also expect the early access to last a year.. because the game is fucking huge and they need to add three acts. But I'm sure you won't be the only one to cry foul that it's to milk players when the EA inevitably goes over 6 months. |

" Nothing you have said here counters the facts of my post. You are trying to defend GGG by saying it's not a new concept because they charged people to test the POE1 expansion? So the OP shouldn't be upset?. I think he has every right to be, given the differences explained in my post, which you did not quote in full because it wouldn't have supported your narrative. The undeniable fact still remains, which is that GGG is pretending POE2 is free to play while charging for access, which is scummy. Open beta in POE1 was never locked behind a paywall, unlike POE2s early access is. If GGG just came out and said poe2 is going to be a paid game and here is why, I don't think anyone would have a problem. But claiming the game is F2P but only if you wait 2 years after everyone has already played it is completely scummy, and no amount of spin will change my opinion otherwise. |

The amount of baseless whine is insane, maybe go buy d4 for 100$ without any meaningful endgame lmao

" LOL. Your post adds nothing to the discussion and is solely opinion, unsupported by facts or justifiable argument as to why your opinion has any merit. |

I've been playing video games for 45 years.
There have been quite a few highlights in that time, but compared to the sheer number of titles, I only think back to very few today. Personally, I would be happy with fewer but better games. And especially as a consumer, sometimes you have to set an example if you want the wind to change in the right direction. Or that the direction stays the same. That's why I'm not talking about buying here, but about supporting. Not paying, but investing. And even $480 is better invested here than $140 (100+40) elsewhere *cough* I have to admit, I'm slightly hyped. |

" There was no NDA in PoE Closed beta. Source? I was in it. The rest of this bs is better left alone. PoE2 will be in EA for 6 months and that was confirmed multiple times. It will be out as F2P when its ready. Keep crying in your corner. It is a service game with seasonal content, its not something that you just finish. It will always be played (well thats the idea) so nobody will be "finished". Last edited by kuciol#0426 on Dec 1, 2024, 5:59:23 AM
