Feels like a scumbag moment from GGG

From my understanding, we get access to like 33% of the playable characters? 1/3rd. This is quite literally just paid privilege access to BETA TESTING.

The game will be free on release AND nothing you do in the beta will carry over to the relevant seasonal releases.

Also this is EXACTLY how we did the beta back in PoE 1 also. Also you get the points etc as if you were just buying MTX.

That was a real brain damage take m8.

Players didn't ask for anything. They just repeated the same model from when the original game was in closed beta, simple as that.

They did ask, there were many posts here and on reddit hoping we will be able to get into EA and it wont be just for streamers.

Again, they were going to do it anyway, because that's what they did back in the day with POE.

Doesnt change the fact that players were hoping for this. It not mutually exclusive you know.

You are NOT paying for the game. You are paying for the right to test the game and get an equal amount of points in return.

I seriously don't understand the big deal here. It's pretty common in today's market to charge for early access. I also don't understand why it's worse for a future F2P to do so. And just to mention: PoE 2 isn't a F2P game. It WILL be a F2P game when it releases.

Paid early access doesn’t make sense for free-to-play games, regardless of their current state. Charging for early access works within the pay-to-play model, where developers can borrow revenue from future sales. But in a game meant to be free-to-play, those future sales doesn't exist.

Most players will have already bought the game on December 6, experiencing it well before the free-to-play version ever launches, which effectively renders the "free" version obsolete. This creates a not-so-clever marketing tactic that essentially replaces the free version with a paid version, making the original free-to-play promise feel irrelevant and dishonest.

Why? Because you said so? Its not how it works.

Not relevant.

Speculations and opinions are not facts. They are very open in what they are selling currently, they are not responsible for stupidity of those that do not understand. If somebody deosnt understand what EA is than thats not him.

It's interesting how most of the complainers regarding this small price tag (for a beta test), are the players who appear to have barely (or never?) supported GGG at all.

Do you think Free-To-Play means the games just magically appears without support & funding? It seems like an incredibly spoiled and naive complaint towards a beta test, when the actual game will still be free.
They just cry because others will have a chance to play and they wont.

So a Free game is going to get sold for $30. Probably sell 1 million+ copies just for the EA and this will basically just be the game release and they will rake in the dough as if it a paid game This reeks of scumbaggery.

Game: is free
Company: makes millions selling copies of the game for $30
GGG: ;)

This is the epitome of entitlement.

Just wait for the full release, it will be free.
I've played 5000 hours in PoE I and the game always has been free. Sure, I paid for some packs as I loved the convenience of more stashtabs and some neat skilleffects, but never I felt being forced to or regretful about what Ive sunk into the game. Even more; seeing what GGG is delivering as an "Early Access" to PoE II, I'm glad that I contributed with my money towards their goal of making a great game. I would do it again, so I did and immediately purchased an EA Key. :)

If you dont feel the same way and feel more like "scammed", well, as others stated here by a lot- you can also make the decision to wait until the game is free. But in my opinion, they deserve the early money for the efforts they've put in. And for the lolz about Blizzard being nervous about all of this, too. :P

Heaven forbid all the people spend countless hours making the game want to feed their family, have a house to live in, go on a vacation etc ....

You reek of entilmenttery.
