Lost interest in races cuz of Points system
Last season I was in the top 20 of the most races completed. However, I'm bad at racing, so I had the lowest amount of points in comparison to others in the top 20 (of most races/not points or placement overall).
This season I have made a week long character that is probably under level 10. That's it. No points. No races completed (except maybe one when I made a character at the last minute but afk'd to talk to family). I use to love races. Last season I set my alarm to get up to participate. This season I'm not sure what happened. I just don't care. Actually I've gone from playing daily to not logging in for days. It isn't burn-out as I have no issue playing games for years. I think it is just an accumulation of a lot of things. Someone mentioned having simultaneous races (2 or more races at the same time). I think that would help a lot of people who feel that races are dominated by a handful of players. As for me, I'm not a good racer so it doesn't matter who dominates it or not. - Rose

they need bracket rewards. top 1 ultimate prize, top 3 get prize, top 10 another prize, top 100 another, and top 250 get a sticker for effort.
that general idea would be more appealing than the current, to me at least. They say I'm an astronaut that laughs a lot.

First off. I'm a new player, been here for only one month.
I'm still on the line for the race, not sure if i like it or not. On one side, i really like to have those kind of event. It's make for some fun between farming my main and just trying to get it to level up, it keep me entertained while forcing me to improve, actually no, the race isn't forcing me to improve the Competition, IE : other players, is forcing me to improve. That's a good and a bad thing, it's obviously annoying to see someone enter Western Forest when i've just been able to kill Brutus, but at the same time it tell me "Hey that's actually possible, work more." On the other side, i don't like it because it doesn't accommodate ME. It take time, it take skills, it take planning. Lots of thing that i've haven't been able to do yet, since i'm kinda new i guess. I got to say that the Reward, while not the main reason i do the race ( At best i will get 100 points ? ) are not that appealing. The idea of the Race is a great one and should stay, it just need some working on it, that's why we're in Beta. It would be nice though if we could get some more information on Race about how they work, cause i'm sure everyone here want to improve the system to make it perfect, but in other to do that we need to know how the thing work. How many dev/gm it take to start the race. How many to keep it working. Why are race at scheduled time. How does the whole thing work in the office. You know, normal stuff that you could tell your players so we can say "Oh well that thing then could be done like that, since it won't be a bother to all those other thing." Now just to wait to see mid-season when they'll probably make a post explaining all the feedback they had so far. I hope do they at least. Leaving some idea i though would be nice for race : - Not starting at Level 1. Race start at Lv X for someone. - Race start in Cruel at Lv30~. - Race start at Lv80~, each monster you kill remove you some Experience, when you reach 0% you lose a level, goal of the race, be as low level as possible. Each time you die you get an experience bonus instead of malus, character get deleted at the end of the race, reward is directly placed in HC stash. - One Class race. No pants day, everyone's a Templar. - Chaos Inoculation race. Everyone start with CI and a chest that give 100 ES. It's pretty much a No potion race. - Secret race. Don't say the specific of the race, just announce that there is a race that start at X when the race start, people can figure out what it is. Could be a Ancestral, No-Projectile, Fast Monster, anything it's a surprise. Like that no one have time to prepare and people must adjust on the field. - Party race with limited number of people in party, 2-man race. - Having more than one reward for each step in the season. Say i reach the 7 points mark, i could choose between one of the three reward the game show me, as if completing a quest. Do you want this Karui Ward or Blackgream or 1 Chaos orb. Giving multiple choose would make it more interesting, as people could see something that they like better than current reward, or they could go for a currency if they don't like specific reward. The best would be if dev/gm weren't needed to start a race, even better if we could do the race whenever we wanted. Say you open all the race league for the whole season at the start of the season, then people can whenever they want to do a race, in that case all reward/points are awarded at the end of the season. Hey. I live in a dream world. IGN : HotCoffeeWithCashewMilk

Make the points an in-game currency, usable at a newmade vendor who sells uniques or 100ilvl stuff. Kaoms heart costs 1000000p, so does 100ilvl thicket bow etc.

" No they are not? Who will buy any of the useless junk you get for anything but the top items? |

" No thanks, I'd rather keep the system exactly as it is now with all its flaws than turn the game into some godawful wow-style points grind. |

To the people who say: "Up your game", or "you expect to be handed rewards for free??!!1?"
Here are some stats on the most recent 1 hour solo race: Percentage of players who completed the race alive vs their levels. 8% => 16 LOTS OF POINTS 45% = 12-15 THREE POINTS 27% = 8-11 ONE POINT 20% = <8 ZERO POINTS Basically 92% of the players got 3 points or less. Those are the lowest point brackets. 8% of the population gets the actual real points..they get actual point distribution at that level.. When about half of the playerbase gets the 2nd to lowest reward you should rethink your system. I'm not even saying more points should be handed out!!! What i'm saying is the point distribution needs to be much MUCH linear in order to keep people interested. Everyone needs that carrot on the stick to keep them going. As is right now..most players will get to level 12 then stop..there is no reason to try for levels 13 or 14 or 15. IGN: HotnessEverspleen

" I admit you have a point. "forum-points" is a too flawed though, even if they gave newbs like me a bigger/cooler carrot. It just feels distant from the game somehow - and the paycheck too far into the future. Last edited by Sharkyman#1919 on Apr 23, 2013, 4:05:12 PM
