Lost interest in races cuz of Points system

I have a few problems with the race system as it is now.

1) You have to race at certain times. With my schedule this is only about 1 race a day that I can even play unless I want to skip work or sleep, not really a good idea...

2) The rewards aren't that good. Maybe I just don't know my gear but when I looked at the Season 2 rewards I was not excited at all. In season 1 most the gear sat in my stash for days before I cared to even pick it up.

3) So if I'm playing for fun and to improve my personal "high scores" and don't care about the actual rewards, then the races can become extremely frustrating if you know your having a bad run and have no chance to set a new personal record. I just had a run where I think 2 town portals dropped the entire race... no joke. For a racer like me the RNG factor can really ruin the fun when certain races you get nothing good so every step of your normally smooth process is a serious pain. The RNG factor can really throw a wrench in the fun gears for me. My last race (that I didn't die) I just quit at the 50 minute mark because it was so ridiculous.

I guess the best players win consistently regardless of RNG somehow, but for a mediocre players having average gear vs terrible gear is a real deal breaker.

4) The guys who win are freaks. Not in a bad way, but I just don't understand it. I know I will never win #1 of my class, I'm lucky to even hit top 5.

5) So in conclusion the problems are:

- No chance to win and the best rewards are only for winners.
- Races require too much time commitment to gain points if you care about getting all the rewards.
- I personally find the rewards to not be exciting or good enough to care about.
- RNG causes the race experience to be extremely inconsistent and on some occasions unpleasant.
- Combining these problems with the fact that you can very easily die at any moment and will die much more often if you try to push for new personal records.
- I'm not satisfied with playing just to get points so this season has been basically me trying to play beyond my abilities hoping I find some miracle race and dying, sometimes within the first 10 minutes and not even caring to restart because I won't beat my personal record.

And this is the ONLY game I even play. And all I do in this game is races... so it's not like I'm a hater, just stating my opinion.

The races are actually the best part of this game even with no prizes. I completely enjoyed the in-between season races and really improved my experience totals. I had a few top 100 finishes last season but most were in modified races such as ancestral or turbo. I had a hard time reaching top 20 in class in the normal races.

This season after some practice in the first 1 hour solo I had the first Brutus kill :-)
It's fun to see improvement and there really isnt much point in leveling my hardcore/default league characters past 80 so I tend to do every race I can.

My only complaint is that I have to go to work and miss 90% of the races.

Races are the end-game for PoE... Some people have realized this, and some have not. They are a new twist on an old burnt-out genre and I hope PoE keeps them the focus of this game.

I'm out of word. Can't anybody satisfy itself with the fact that they surpassed themself? Like personal goal and than grab some bonus on the road? No?

Perhaps a possible solution would be to have a bronze/silver/gold league for each race? Group together players who have a similar amount of points?

There isn't as much incentive. I imagine when pvp is improved with decent inventives you'll find a ton of people loving pvp. Till then it's rare to find one person pvping on merciless(at least on HC).
