Lost interest in races cuz of Points system

I don't mind the point system, and the current list of rewards look rather tasty.

But considering how hardcore you have to be in order to get anything past the first two rewards, it's just not worth the effort imo.

you do one week race and just lvl it up to around 70 and you get the first 2 rewards, and then you can participate multiple short races to just get the minimum 3 pts every time and you will get there. that was what i did for the first season and i got up to 60 pts for the alt art coral ring. it is not that hard tbh and you don't need to be a nolifer to do that. just participate the ones on the weekends.

the week race is the easiest cuz you don't even have to rush your character. you can just lvl up normally like you would play the other characters in the permanent league and you will get there as long as you don't die.

They changed the reward scaling. Getting to level 70 on a 1 week party race now will score you a grand total of 8 points.

The scaling was fine before imo, I would have joined the races if I wasn't incredibly busy the first half of the season.

I'll just say this now. They need to make a few races that the rich folks can't participate in.

Like, what's even the point in racing if Kripp and his team are gonna play?

What's the point of playing basketball if LeBron James is going to play? He's better than I am and always will be, that's just the way it is.

You play basketball against Lebron James?

Holy fuck man, how do you not get hurt? Are you an enormous black man?

When I play basketball against big black men, i just bend over and ask them to be gentle, Lebron included.
You mean the races themselves aren't fun enough for ya?
I have said it before and I will say it again. Races suck for casual gamers.
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.

this resume pretty much team races

so what?

want to place higher? practice like everyone else does and get better

Only 80 people out of 900+ made it to level 16 in the most recent hour race. Less than 10% of the people got over 3 points.

Something is wrong with the point distribution when 90% of the players get the lowest and 2nd to lowest point brackets.

If it stays as is, those 90% of players will lose interest and races will be vastly underpopulated, and the playerbase will get bored..as they won't have any extra events to try that are worth while.

Just finished a race. Was happy to reach 13 and (30%).
Really not a great score, but my personal best. Took the 3 point and was glad to see that I am moving up. Next step ; 4 point.

Than I come here.

And I read this pathetic thread.

''It's not fair that they are good, I should get all the rewards !! wahh wahh!''

Wow. And they think they deserve it.

I'm out of word. Can't anybody satisfy itself with the fact that they surpassed themself? Like personal goal and than grab some bonus on the road? No?

All you want is to get everything without any effort.
Used to be really excited about races in CB.
OB races I only use as an excuse to level up new characters without cluttering my existing stash tabs..

Thats.. the only excuse I could find to make myself participate in a race =S

The incentive system just.. it just doesnt seem as exciting as when it was in CB =/

Some people find different things fun. I don't find pure personal challenges all that fun tbh.. and it would be alright, if there was a bonus on the road. But after Season 1, I realized I didn't actually get a bonus.. I was just farming as usual. I would have gotten a bonus for putting in more hours then, but not for the actual participation of a race. My last two races I was thinking 'Ah, lets just get this over with for those two-three points.' No ooh, a new race, this is going to be so much fun! It was drudge work, because the incentive system is broken. I had to incentivize myself, think of it as farming as usual, except with extra stash tabs! And still I couldn't get myself to bother with 3-hour races even if it meant missing out on the measly 15pt reward

The system can be improved. Fun and achievement can be obtained without catering to entitled people. The point is to maintain integrity of the game, not to deny making it a fun experience =/

I personaly enjoy the races, last 135min race i ended at rank 56 on the list wich i was very happy with, i think its all about challenging ureself and not caring abou the bigger picture '-.-.

Like some people complain "why no more currency rewards like CB?" but in my experience i have found 2 regals a buttload of chaos/alchs etc durring races, i see no reason to give even MORE currency rewards...even better in races i exualy use my currency alturation drops? be 100% sure im gonna use that baby to give me an edge, alch drops? OmG time to boost my dps of my last weapon im gonna use etc....

Seriuesly i dont delude myself that im gonna end up at rank 1, cuse wel U CANT, and deluding ureself wil just make the races a negative experience. Have u ever watched the preparations a dude like kripp ore nugi do before a race '-.-? Have u compared there preparations to ures? and then expect to beat them o.O? These guys now at what lvl certain "mod" effects appear, ore when to use alt's to roll for them. They know what lvls certain weapon types drop they need etc. They dont have to get "lucky" like most people call it because they create there luck in a game like this, knowledge wins. Most like they even know all the layouts of the maps by now, just running from entrance to exit in 5 min while it takes a regular joe 12 min to look true the entire zone etc...

Im not trying to offend anybody here, just trying to encurage some logic in the way u aprouch races. Aim for a top 100 place would be much more realistic if ure playing for the competitions sake (even top 50 could be attained i think), hell if ure lucky u might exualy beat a pro because RNG = RNG and can be a whore to anybody =p.

For my place 56 i got 6 points since i ended at lvl 16 + i got a bonus for ending in the top 10/20 of my class, and its the highest reward i ever got in a race and i was very thrilled about it. And thats why i play the races for the currency drops/the thrill/the ability to suprise myself from time to time/the cool bonus of learning to fast lvl a new char xD,
BUT NOT TO WIN(because that would be "foolish" and would end up making me quit races)
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
I find the concept of races to be very interesting. I do see the reasoning behind why people wouldn't like the season rewards and prefer actual rewards per race. I'd at least like to see some other rewards implemented into the races for accomplishing different things during it.
Perhaps once they are better able to track things the players do, they could even add modifiers to your point gains based on what you do and don't do. Get all the way to lvl. 13 without using any passive points? You get a bonus! That kinda thing.
