Lost interest in races cuz of Points system
" True, but even if you were only the 50th best NBA player, you'd still be making a 6 figure salary. That's a fair amount of compensation, even if you never get a ring. This is more like being the 50th best NBA player getting... a closer parking spot than the 51st best. " This is true if this were an e-sport, but saying that here means something along the lines of "it doesn't matter if you lose to kripp, because someday someone else, who still isn't you, will beat kripp". That doesn't make it any better for the non-all-day players. It's like losing a poker tournament to someone who is acting absurd, and catches a miracle card. Someone telling you "don't worry, idiots like that never win" doesn't change the fact that ou don't care if he wins, just that YOU LOST because of it. Which is one thing in tournaments and comeptitions, another in this game's closest thing to a Diablo Ladder there is. Which therefore begs the question: What is the purpose of the races? If it's for E-sport reasons, than they are good as is. If it is for "general purpose, everyone cmon in" reasons, not unlike the Boston Marathon (and yes, I would have used that reference even without the recent events), then it needs more incentive for the rest of the "main pack". #1 rule of official forum boards of every video game ever: use the forums to relay info, gather suggestions, or the rare narrow-focused Poll; but NEVER as "feedback".
#2 rule: Never say the #1 rule in an official capacity. Let some guy on the forums say it, leaving yourself plausible deniability. |

" The thing is that you're already getting currency while you are participating in the race. IMO, the points system is nice. Some of the items I may never obtain, but I can get all them in game anyways (except the ilvl 100 onyx ammy), which should be easily obtainable by anyone who's started racing at the beginning of the season. ign - JoeyTrader

" I agree, orb rewards were awesome in CB and they should at least try this kind of reward. In my opinion, it will drag a lot of players to play HC since it gives game currency. This will stabilize the economy and force the players to play HC races instead of inflating the economy because it is hard to find rare game currency. Also but not QQ, not all people have the time to play 4-6 hours HC just to get 4-7 points. This is why I pass HC races in OB because of the reward system plus the time giving. HEY!!! GOT MILK!!!

I feel that the race point system is pretty bad. I don't have any motivation to participate in any because I can't participate in the majority of races.
I mean I'm fine with not being top but if I can't even get anything good at all then what's the point? Last edited by Bergtau#1129 on Apr 22, 2013, 6:37:38 PM

The main adjustment I think they should make to races is to make them less top-heavy on points.
Top-heavy points are fine in a highly competitive environment where everyone is about the same skill level (like a playoff system, for instance), but putting everyone of every skill level into the same pool and then giving the top 0.5% about 20x more points than the participation reward that lower level players compete for just creates a money funnel for the top players. If they are not going to segregate races by skill level, then they should narrow the reward differential. For example, if the participation badge that average players compete for is 3 points then no individual racer should be able to get more than about 9 points in that same race. Not only are they more active and compete in more events, but being the best player is already going to ensure they get one of the top ranks every time they compete. When they both compete more often and score higher, those two factors are multiplicative in creating a larger differential without the need to make first prize so much larger than the participation badge. |

My only complaint is with the random reward at the end. I think everyone that gets at least 1 point should get an equal chance at the random reward. It is hardly free loot and would be a cool incentive imo.
I also agree that they need to have a pro like league for the no lifers. Like any competitive game you need segregation for the better players and the newbs and you graduate to the better leagues and thus get better rewards. Last edited by Yogabba#6576 on Apr 22, 2013, 7:23:27 PM

I think there should be race brackets so to speak, based off the amount of total race points you have acquired.
For example. Say Kripp has a total of 500 race points put the top 20 % of racers who have the next closet amount of points in the same bracket as him. Next tier casual racer, people who race when they feel like it but not all the time Last tier, all the new racers go into the pool till they aquire X % of points to move up to the next tier. Where the majority of racers will be. SO by doing this, new racers that learn fast will get points faster in the low tier but be moved out quicker which will help motivate people to race more because they did well and are learning. While they may not be top of the pack in the normal group they can still do well. While the top 20% can duke it out over the top ranking which would force more competitive play for race teams since it will be a much smaller number of people.
