" This is true, but you can design boss fights so that you're not making it absolute cancer for lots of builds. My first time killing Maven was with a Crackling Lance Inquisitor and the final phase was truly awful. Dodging the mechanics is one thing, but doing that while having to channel for DPS is hard hard mode compared to other things, especially when one of the key features of that phase is the regen debuff. You're adding layers of f-you's to certain builds, and the game needs less of that rather than more. It's not like totems and other easily-mobile DPS builds haven't been dominating the last few years, is i? |

Sounds like a you problem if you still haven't beat the fight even after all the attempts. Think the learning curve should go decently up after dying a couple of times, but I guess some players are just slow and don't want to learn out of their mistakes and blame the game instead.
I mean look at Quin for example, this guy killed maven in 45 min once, so you can even pretty much sit out the entire fight if your character is tanky enough. Or just do the mechanics right and have decent damage to kill her within less than 5 min. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. All I can say is, my attention span can't do the memory game period.
Too much going on for me to stare at a floor while dodging beams, floor puddles, etc. I just stay dead until she stops. It takes me three portals or so, but it can be done that way. No shame for us terrible memory folks 8) |

This "memory game" reminds me the WoW TBC Ogri'la faction release in 2007? There were that stupid daily quest where you should remember sequences of colours. It was stupidiest thing ever. Like wtf I'm playing game with my game character, not my RL character. Why not "fitness game": to beat boss you need to make 100 push ups in RL or "cash game": to beat the boss you need to show boss your bank account with 1000 bucks ... |

It's easily one of the worst fights in the game. The memory game is the worst. It's like i'm back in grade school being reminded how stupid I am. In addition .. GEOMETRY ... the turning beams make it more difficult for any character that has to be close to do DPS. The farther away you are from center the easier the fight is. The heck? Did no one stop to consider that not all characters do DPS from off the screen?
I get that there is a point where the devs have to make it more about mechanics but we always regress into "Deeps good" and "defense bad" because of all the boss degen and one shot mechanics. This game needs less one shot boss mechanics and a lot less crap on the screen. It seems to me the fight was meant to be tactical but there isn't anything tactical about it.
