Crucible is peak PoE and it's not even close.

Peak PoE was sentinel league more loot than any other league and it wasnt even close also extremely fun league mechanic and was probably the most diverse builds that league

personally I feel like the mechanic is clunky but okayish.

I heckin love the trees and after a month of trade I restarted in SSF with the goal of getting the frostblades ignite mod on weapon, shield and El'Abins and I've been hard farming that for literally 6 or 7 weeks now off and on and still can't get the mod on a shield with anything decent/non brick. I know the helm is too much to hope for.

Too me this is classic ARPG gameplay... hard farming resetting reliquary getting 5 cooks in for every one cook I would otherwise be able to do.

I have the meta strat for cooking desirable shield bases down as well, I'm just getting severely unlucky (which describes my entire experience with POE over the years tbh...)always severely unlucky... Backup plan is to go 2h as I've got a couple good ones already cooked. but I'd rather sword and board (and if I get insanely lucky with the helm) for 30 possibly 45% chance at 100% more and the high block because Shield wheels are great for Defense + Ailment scaling

I envision actually playing the build itself in standard due to how ridiculously elongated Ruthless makes the grind.

To me Crucible trees are "projects" and leagues with "projects" (like Betrayal, Synthesis, Harvest/Ritual) are ALWAYS the ones I can play for the entire league and have fond memories of.

I know Crucible was not well reviewed by the clear speeders because it doesn't shit loot on them, but IMO this is the kind of mechanic that makes the game MORE ADDICTIVE AND QUINTESSENTIALLY ARPG. I would love to see GGG "subvert expectations" and make it a core mechanic in some capacity (at least the trees).
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

If by peak PoE you mean mediocre gameplay, unbridled power creep and non-existent loot... To each it's own, i guess.
Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].
yep Crucible is peak PoE and harvest not even close.

Yeah it's powerful, but we've always been powerful. As far as in-map combat leagues this is the bottom of the barrel. Pure hot garbage mechanic. Good thing the base game is so much fun to play.

Nope, and more important point is that builds will never be as powerful as they are in Crucible.

Nah, they say that every league.

Who says what?

It doesn't take away from that builds will likely be never be as powerful as they are in Crucible. Did you not noticed the trend? GGG nerfs basegame and Leagues give some power back for the duration of the League, but it was never anywhere near as much as Crucible. Keep in mind next League will also need to work against another round of nerfs.

Sentinel was fun League, but power wise it was nowhere near close to Crucible. You people have terrible memory or don't understand how strong Crucible is.

You are Ruthless player? Hmm.
Do you even understand what peak means? it has nothing to do with power creep it means when PoE was at its best state of the game so my memory is okay

You didn't really read beyond the title before posting did you? OP literally said what he was talking about in his first sentence...

Crucible is honestly just plain bad in my opinion. The mechanic itself is bad and while it provides ton of power it's just plain powercreep in unheard of proportions.
I just hope it really doesn't go core because i can also imagine a scenario where it does go core and in exchange GGG nerfs all weapon and shield bases + affix tiers bei ~50% to compensate so we'd be stuck with being forced to use that shitty mechanic and in the end still end up with less power unless we spend a lifetime on a single tree.
It would just further lower the powerfloor and shoot the powerceiling through the roof i.e the core mistake to GGGs "balancing". The game really doesn't need more of that..
I think a lot of people are a little bit unfair in this thread. While a lot of people praise Harvest as "the best thing ever", they totally ignore the Harvest league mechanic. And if we do the same with Crucible, and focus solely on the gear progression it brings, I honestly feel it gives a lot to the game.

Do I think it'll stay? Nope. But if they would add it like they did with Harvest in Ritual, scrapping most of the mechanic and only gave people the "positives", I think a lot of players would learn to love Crucible.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

I think they would discover an invisible yoke around their neck in the form of mandatory development required on every character to achieve the moved power level.

It isn't a great system, its a filler system and it shows - tidying up the access to it doesn't change that they would have to tidy up the leveling and the forging too as well as many of the outcomes and by then you've reworked the entire thing.

It belongs in the trash compactor I think you'd be had pressed to find a less popular modern league aside from Kalandra which is honestly another great reason that it can't be peak. It isn't peak power creep, its a fucking crater in terms of "peak" gameplay and the same for its general reception.
