It's always either softcore player complaining about it who either didn't try hardcore or didn't get very far and very rarely hardcore player who choose the most boring playstyle of playing like absolute cowards, never pushing their limits and just doing 100% safe content. If they ever tried it they'd know TCP macro isn't reliable and fails more time than they think, and while Alt+F4/Exit to Login Screen are quite reliable - game has so many situations where logout would either not save you or would kill you instead where you could've survived without logout.

I wouldnt call myself a hc player if im abusing a logout macro to prevent my death. That´s it.

Tbh dude, killing 3 endgame bosses (easy ones) in hc (thanks macro for not dying) and running through poe forums like you are a pro hc player....is a bit weird. But keep defending what ever you are, maybe you become a Knight one day.

Alt+F4 does work. It's the most reliable way along with "exit to login screen". You're mistaking it with "Exit to Character Selection" (or /exit command). That does leave character in game for like a second. TCP RST logout (which can only be done with a macro) is as fast as Alt+F4/Exit to Login Screen but it's also very unreliable, a lot of the time it fails due to single packet loss (and then your character stays in game for 6 secons as if you just lost connection), its upside is that you can use it to try to yeet your character out of the game when you client freezes for example (where alt+f4 might not work and UI is not responsive to click button).
