Why is MF and the supposed "loot goblin": a problem? Expalin it to me like I'm an idiot
Let me try an analogy...
Imagine you go into a forest (map) with the objective to farm wood (loot). Each day you go into a new forest. Suddenly one day you find a forest with a shiny tree (loot goblin) and you cut it down with your usual axe (any gear). As you come back with a piece of shiny wood, you see another worker with ten pieces of shiny wood and you ask him where he found all the shiny trees, but he answers that he just found one tree, the trick is to use a special axe (gear with IIR) to yield much more shiny wood from a single shiny tree if you happen to find one, which may take a bit more effort but will be worth it. (Ok maybe the analogy gets lost here, but I think you get the point.) So let me ask: Would you still continue to use the axe that yields less shiny wood? Only for regular trees. Now, if the "loot goblin" issue stays in 3.20, only that you aren't able to identify when a tree is shiny or not, you now want to cut every tree with the special axe (or a variation of that) even it it means more "effort" (sacrifice power on gear for MF). That would be fine if most of the builds you want to play allow for that, but I predict less than a handful of builds to be efficient "MF map clearers" which brings no diversity into the meta build pool. I think, as someone above said, your line of reasoning comes from the notion that, taking my analogy, you would just wander around the forest, aimlessly cut down whatever and call it a day, with no results or goal in mind... But the regular player will always try to make the most out of playing the game, so that's why "FOMO" (which has to be induced first to become a thing) is a reasonable and understandable concern with the current loot goblins. To be clear I am only talking about the loot goblin as in currency conversion reward type, where IIR makes a massive difference in the value and amount of currency dropped. |

I think hypocrisy and feeling that the rules were changed just to string you along has a lot to do with it. They are removing many gems just because GGG says you shouldn't feel "burdened" with having to choose between 3 gems that had very little affect on your character. Yet they changed the loot rules which force you to choose between hundreds of stats and if you can even play a particular build anymore.
Loot wasn't change so that you would feel better and more free about your build in the game. It was changed to restrict and limit you further, and I would put a heavy wager the changes were done for player retention. I would bet GGG did this for the same reason they destroyed harvest. It all points the same direction. Your normal casual feels there are more roadblocks put in the way of being able to "make it" in the game. Nearly every casuals goal previously was, "To be able to do juiced maps and make currency like the rich people". But now GGG has placed a large roadblock in the way that you can't get around by effort, a road block of the worst kind. The roadblock of RNG. The casuals watched the rich people they have always wanted to be like quit the game in droves because the rich people felt the game had become unfair. If the game felt unfair and too RNG for the rich people that you wanted to be like, what hope do you have now of being like them? TLDR MF RNG loot means you have to spend a lot more time and have a much more capable build than you did before. Last edited by Valkaneer#5171 on Nov 19, 2022, 9:56:44 AM

" This needs to be bolded and underlined too. The best way to farm up a Headhunter or Mageblood is to have a Headhunter or Mageblood with MF gear. Gutting Gameplay Gradually Last edited by zakalwe55#2432 on Nov 19, 2022, 9:46:51 AM

So in very few words:
Loot quantity and rarity were slightly watered down in 3.19 so that you needed to add some increased rarity in gear to compensate. Somebody discovered that if you make a very weak character with culling strike and lots of increased quantity/rarity you could get lots of currency from some rare monsters. People got all paranoid about all the currency they weren't making like when you think if you bought Amazon or Apple stocks years ago now you would be rich, which is stupid. So when they encountered said monsters they stopped playing to get a person that had one of these rarity-stacking characters to maximize their loot. In the end nobody had any fun ever because paranoia and the World ended. The end. |

Im gonna drop another food for though:
Whats the problem with this "FOMO" stuff??? I mean, why its is something wrong? Seriously, isnt it perfectly natural to, when you see someone having a blast, you wanna join or wanna have a blast too??? WTF is with this mentality of "oh dont bother with how other people are doing, just ignore and be aphatic". Heck, if i see its possible to get 100 divs a map, OFF FUCKING COURSE i wanna know how to get it, and if its something that i absolutely cant replicate, OFF FUCKING COURSE im gonna be upset! Why the Fok not? Seriously, people who are not bothered by other people doing better and you not being able to at least have a glimpse of improving yourself have something seriously wrong You guys call it envy? Well, i call Bull: [Removed by Support] Looking at someone else that is higher and not having even some fantasy of being there too means you have some damn serious lack of ambition, as well as a damn big chase of self-absortion: Being content with your own little world and not caring how other people are doing you got complacent on a very serious level. Really, if the whole humanity was THAT lacking in ambition, we would still be happily living in straw-made homes and hunting with sticks And for this stupid goblin: Why, if i cant have it myself AND im being forced to deal with the inflation caused by the influx of divines from it, OF FUKING COURSE im gonna be pissed and im gonne want to either be able to have it myself or wanna lock the people who have it on their own party-exclusive league where i dont have to deal with the consequences of the inflation! Whats the problem with that??? Last edited by Lisa_GGG#0000 on Nov 19, 2022, 3:39:33 PM

"Excuse me? I played Kalandra for 197 hours with different Atlas tree's and farmed everything there is on different tiers and levels of investment. I stick to my opinion and say these so called "loot goblins" and the need for magic find aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I could agree and get behind the need to change ArchNemesis but everything magic find is heavily exaggerated. What fomo does to people, kekw. It's because having a person in full MF gear come in to your map specifically just to kill your super rare monster is not fun gameplay.
This is the exact reason laid out in the update, in simple terms. What is the value of my own life when it is taken from others so easily? Last edited by Noble_Seiken#0706 on Nov 19, 2022, 2:49:12 PM

" Pretty bold to randomly assume something cluelessly. Doesn't seem like you placed much time into this league to talk in first place. Just a single level 97 character and not even 40 challenges. Kinda cringe at this rate. Fomo players these days.. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

" Don't you think it's a bit too much to say there's something seriously wrong with someone because they might have different views and needs than you? There's no need to be insulting. Last edited by Lisa_GGG#0000 on Nov 19, 2022, 3:41:19 PM
