What's your #1 issue with the current state of the game?

#1: Bad visibility in general, game is super cluttered in effects, but in a weird twist, the effects that are more obvious tends to be the less deadly ones instead of the other way around. I think this is the problem behind those deaths coming from god-knows-what

#2: Trading in general, while i understand their reluctance in implementing a full AH, its about time we have some automatic way to at least trade currency. Making any orb exchange can be an arduous affair if your not willing to overpay and about half of the wispers i get come from people who dont want to make deals and are just price-chekin

#3: AN really feels like a pet mechanic for chris at this point. I understand they want to make rares relevant, but the way they are rebalancing the whole game around it and stuborness to tone down their offense at least on non-end content is really making it feel chris wants to push it into the front of the core game no matter what. I cant think of any league mechanic that got the premium treatment AN is recieving

#4: The general optimization is atrocious and its moving backwards... PoE is not exactly a game that looks super modern and even if it seems very calculation intensive, D3 works with numbers magnetudes bigger and deal with screens just as cluttered and still runs like silk on rigs that cant even properly handle the character select screen on PoE. Also, the areas that makes longuest loading screens are hubs, where combat is not a thing. I can understand that they are likely stuck with tons of legacy code from back when GGG was young, but the game over time became more and more inefficient. Game was playable some years ago on a laptop with a mid-range 5th gen i5 processor with a so-so graphic card, today it lags on laptops with 9th gen processor and a 1050ti card, even outside super busy areas like maven invitations. I have fallen under the impression to play a subpar version of the game. All those nerfs and removals of functions (like harvest crafts) are supposed to become ultimately conclusive when poe 2 hits.

We are currently inbetween and its just getting awkward. While the game is slowly getting transformed into what its supposed to be, there is way too much fallout. And this is all said assuming that poe 2 will "address" those issues to begin with, but thats not even certain.

Now we got a league with the most iconic character there is in this game and its so generic and artistically worthless that its just sad. It feels like as if the live version of poe is being maintained by a skeleton crew.

I definitely do hope that poe 2 manages to deliver, cause otherwise i dont even know anymore.

The current state of melee and GGG refusal to do anything meaningful about it.

Melee is the way it is by design and the fact that they still do barely anything with it outside of PR fluff is silly. It is made even worse if you go to any other modern ARPG (Grim Dawn, Wolcen, D3 (fuck that game), Torchlight (1 & 2), etc.) melee doesn't play like it plays here at all. It is like they deliberately made it clunky and refuse to do a single thing to make it better. Then keep doubling down on more clunky stuff. They still haven't fixed the targeting problem and that is the most basic thing that melee is struggling with (there are oher issues also).


But don't worry the eagles are coming!!! Maybe in POE 2 melee will be ok like they keep claiming. The problem with that is nobody is going to give it a chance because they are not giving it a chance now because nothing is being done with it. They are pretty much asking people to wait on more empty promises like the ones from previous leagues.

Well, currently there isn’t a way to break Kitava’s Horns without endangering Bannon’s life. I’m currently studying some of the books I found at the Sceptre of God that seem promising though. Since Siosa is in the area he’s helping me cross reference some sources from a Vaal Area to make sure the foundational theory has a solid groundwork in connection to gem power and manipulation.

It’s looking hopeful, but that’s my #1 issue so far.

Hitting little soft walls in SSF that don’t really feel like “my fault”. Mainly currency related.

Like wanting to boost my damage by finally using a 5-link but running out of fusings and having to wait while they trickle back in. Or finally finding a weapon or armour piece that's a decent upgrade but not being able to use it because I didn't manage to hit the right combination of socket colours.

I know for a lot of people, ARPGs are about "loot", but I find loot pretty boring, and to me ARPGs are about skill trees. So when progress in the game feels like it's largely based on deterministic choices I make in my build, that's great. But then that slows down, and progress instead becomes more about what I happen to find on the ground in maps, which is a shame.

yep, it's a bit scarce. thought they did it in the dev time microsoft needs to implement and test a single button in excel.

when i look back, there hasn't been a single league where they went "all in" design wise and didn't have to overhaul everything in the 2 weeks following release cause "reddit didn't like it".

if i were a dev, having a playerbase that mistakes a "easy game" as "fun" would definitely kill my motivation to come up with crazy stuff.

a player base that can neither ignore useless loot fragments on the ground nor is able to skip monsters their build can't handle nor understands basic rules of a world wide trading system with no limitations.

i really hope they can win back some of the old gamers they had with poe2, though they would need to have it as a separate game and not just a different campaign.

I still haven't got a PS5 (ya I play on console, ps4)

You can't even have some sextants and a few scarabs anymore with altars. That's way too much "juice"
The game is balanced around easy mode(Trade League)

The idea that difficulty is being 1 shot killed randomly and often.
I have a folder of movies i needed to record just to see how i died.

GGG trying to turn a game into something the game engine can't support.
I played a Demon Hunter in Diablo3 I know what smooth motion and fast paced reaction killing is. PoE Engine is not up to the task .

If you want AN mobs in the game .. move the camera back 70% so you could actually see one before the Hastened Gargantuan Steel Infused ...whatever is one shotting you.

Balance the game around SSF, it is the actual game, have trade league it is easy mode , then Hardcore... stop balancing Trade it masks the actual game.

AN mobs are cancer, they are lazy development and lead to poor gameplay.
I know GGG likes dice rolling , but how your game scales difficulty should not be a random thing.

I have come to believe that PoE was an accident, that the previous successful iterations was the company failing to achieve their goal . I truly feel they are going to fly this plane right into the ground.
