Do people really think 70/80k(1/4 of which are likely bots) is a success? After all this time?
It's not bad, of course, but it can't compare.
DI is an absolute dumpster fire, however, 10m+ people (literally 100x PoE's player base) installed it within days...
Regardless of what you think, DI is F2P, therefore a direct market competitor to PoE. And it's already won.
Yeah its so dead that it broke the record of most concurrent players last league.

And its highest ever rention drop (in terms of percentage) Another record.
I'm not sure it's the compliment you think it is to have record numbers of players try the game, only to have them leave at a record setting pace.
Again it's this bizzare development situation, where they want to design the game towards the more hardcore/elite and focus on endgame, but want to advertise and market for the casual player. I get they want the casual money, but they really dont want that player. Its interesting.

Players always leave after 1-2 weeks. It donest matter at all. What matter is that they keep coming back, and in fact more and more people came back (or new people started). They dont care that people leave, they made all the bucks in first 1-2 weeks of the league anyway when the supporter packs and mystery boxes are still new and shiny.

Are you stalking me? lol
Again, 100x the current number of PoE players (and that's being generous) decided to download it...
This 'record' is such a small fish in comparison, it is meaningless.

The huge majority of players of PoE just copy paste the best builds and rush to maps and after a week quit. They don't care about complex systems and clever builds, they just wanna have a blast. DIV will satisfy these players and I can imagine a large proportion of PoE's player base will disappear for a simpler, fun game.
Quoted for truth.
I hope GGG doesn't interpret people leaving so soon, that the game isn't hard enough and we will get another difficulty update. It totally kills off oldschool 2003 build diversity where people didn't feel forced to follow the most optimized killing machines, stacking all layers of defense (which means there is really no gameplay choice in a game boasting build diversity). And if you don't follow that, it is a matter of 'getting gud'.

Its free. Its also phone game. 10 milion isntall means nothing if 99.9% decide to uinstall it w/o spending a single penny. The game has literally the lowest user score than any game managed to get in the history of game industry.
But I guess Blizz fanbois will defend even such trash as long its made by Blizard.

Again, no actual point was made. Just a silly attempt at an insult.
PoE is also free. Most players on the F2P carousel likely won't spend anything here either.
I have no love for Blizzard, nor will I ever install DI, doesn't change anything... If overall numbers were good, and showing a positive trend, GGG would show them, with pride. They clearly don't.

And the broken record was 1/10th of active lost ark players, and basically the same as New Worl a game that everyone knows is dead. See PoE is a great game but it NEVER stood up to the competition on steam even the most arp with more simultaneous players is wolce (I know its a horrible game but numbers are numbers). The crucial point is that a huge number of poe whales live in a tiny pitcher thinking that everything around them is scorched earth but in reality DI even with all the problems has 10 million active players and more than 2 million simultaneously and almost 10 times more than PoE, on steam Lost Ark has 20 times more active players than PoE, so when we say that PoE is dead it's because the game doesn't add new players, there are even some curious trasisdos by streamer campaigns but they don't last 10 days here, and to make matters worse, the constant and unnecessary changes are afflicting the MAIN group of PoE players that are the softcores, they are abandoning the game and that is a fact.
