POE Heading to D3 Land...please reconsider
I agree with OP.
I play solo and HATE the trading in this game. Not when i started playing, but apparently the trading in Poe has also a cutthroat feeling. For me the trading is the 'Path of insults' and the bitter memory of D3. My experience playing poe since OB in regards to drops, gem-drops/rewards and interesting gear for my toons without the help of trading is as follows: I need to play 5-10 chars to the same level (i am a 60-70 player) and after weeks my inventory has enough good gear to progress with one toon. Am i the only one that thinks this is broken? (well this post shows ppl agree) I dont understand why the gems are so limited as qstrewards. My first two chars before i even start with the one i want to level, are mules: shadow who picks fire trap. So Its one of the factors that the game is forcing me to play mules, which is super-boring, instead of letting me play and build the toon i want. Just give us a Gem vendor, the gems are only usable at the appropriate level; so why not give us more choice. Let the qstrewards be yellow gear and some special gems like the chain, but please skip the world drops, instead give us recipes that let us trade a set of gems for the special gem. In short: Why did GGG lost there intention to give us a good and enjoyable experience as solo player. Why is GGG so focused towards a few nolife elitist players who can brake any build: and i as mainstream-player am left with new gems/skills that miss the real power or have to high mana cost to use... Where is the magic that the game had a few months ago when i started? Last edited by Patsboem#1402 on Apr 10, 2013, 7:34:17 AM

+10000000 to OP.
I hate grind currency to BUY items. Its so unrewarding and feels like pay to win. Exactly like d3 | |
It feels like Diablo 3 because I have to be online to play this game. Even when I solo. Which is all the time. I don't group in these games. I don't trade in any fashion.

The drop rates hav e definitely changed since CB, either that, or the strength of loot relative to what is required to progress has gotten that much worse
Which is imho, the massive issue behind this. People can't argue that loot is bad in a "vacuum". Loot is only "bad" if the average player is not getting good enough drops to progress. Which is precisely whats happening now. Whether the loot drops have remained completely unchanged, and this is just a result of the anti glass cannon round of balancing that hapenned after CB, is a good question to ask, but irregardless this may be as much of a problem of GGG being silly and just buffing the damage of mobs to ridiculous levels (in that depending on your build, you need near perfect gear to progress from as early as act3 merc or you hit a brick will), or that GGG did actually lower the drops, or a bit of both In any case, GGG actually needs to do something about it. In my honest opinion, buffing the damage of mobs of mobs, after CB, in general, was a ridiculously stupid idea (or at least the amount they have been buffed by was). The problem with glass cannons was always certain skills (FP/Chain/LA etc etc) Also like Charon stated, only being able to do builds after being forced to trade/find certain gems is borderline retarded |

I've been saying this about drop rates being better in CB and the game in general being more fun in CB, as much as it probably would pain GGG to hear, Act 3 being completely out of whack and drop rates being nerfed really killed the game.
R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.

I really do think it's both. Clearly mob damage has gone up and I think when the chaos recipe exploded they nerfed the drop rate to try and balance the economy out. I did a fuckton of farming in CB and the 2-3 weeks leading up to the chaos change and there's a noticeable difference.
Let's make act 3 and maps a gear check, but make it harder to find gear forcing people to trade but also make trading a pain in the ass. I miss this game being fun. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th
Finished 18th in Torment/Bloodline 1mo Race - peaked at 9th Null's Inclination Build 2.1.0 - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1559063 Summon Skeleton 1.3 - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1219856 |

I'll chime in and say that I think the drop rates of low tier uniques needs to be upped some, moreso for build enablers.
I can't speak for others but when starting out on D2, I was totally stoked every time a Unique or Set Item dropped. Didn't matter if I couldn't use it, I just felt good about myself (probably due to all the endorphins releasing). If (build-enabling) uniques drop but you can't specifically use it, it should get you thinking about how to use it and that sparks the whole build creation process thus greater frequency of these drops = good. Give them even greater variable ranges in their rolls to compensate so you'll also always be looking out for that perfect one. |

regarding currency drop difference in open <=> closed beta, please don't forget that in closed beta races you got rewarded with alot of high level currency when you reached a certain level.
when i remember right races in closed beta were nearly my only source of high level orbs for crafting as the currency drop rate was similar to as it is now. offline

" Normally, in the betas I've been on, the difference between open and closed was mainly the vitriol on the forums or the server chats, but I'm with Moosi, 0.9.x was a lot more fun from my perspective as a soloist. |

Paid leagues with tons of customization option and with decent cost to keep out to botters, exploiters and such low life forms who came after OB(except decent players)
i do missed game and community from CB. |
