HALF of playerbase has quit in 1 WEEK

Well, I expect the number of players will remain the same or become much lower this league. Gonna be fun to see if GGG will strike the nerf hammer next league. lol

They'll nerf the builds people are using just as they always do. They're going to continue to nerf builds that work until there aren't any left.
The nerfs will continue until morale improves.

poe league peak: 158k

poe's weekend player re-spike never happened because of lost ark. elden ring is coming out a little over a week. this is probably going to be the single most dead league. what a stupid idea to release a new expac on the same month as 2 hyped games

Well, they rescheduled a release in the past (for Cyber Punk) and this wasn't received well, either.
At some point, you can only make decisions and hope you're aggravating a minority of players. *shrug*

This.
The funny thing is the number on weekdays of the 1st week is higher than the weekend of the 2nd week. Oh the irony.

Man, I'm all for trashing GGG for the 3.15 fuckup, have been doing it since then, but what happened is that Lost Ark released.

Not much GGG can do about that other than plan the releases better.

Nah. Weekend numbers are much better for this, Mid-week numbers are still shit measurements.

Errm, what is the point of this topic anyway - "TEH GAEM WILL DIE!!11one"?
Well, it has been "dying" since 2013 and still "dying" in 2022 and will be "dying" all the same in the coming years i guess.

Unless you have some financial numbers from ggg (including everything - international pc version, console, tencent/chinese version), you don't know shit about how "successful" was this particular league/expansion.

Player numbers on a part of the particular platform are just numbers (okay, maybe more than just numbers, teh old servers tend to lag badly when these numbers are too high, so personally i prefer them to be somewhere in the middle). Technically, if say 80% of those who "left" (its kinda wrong word cause many of them can come back say a month later) had no intention to pay anything this league, they are not a loss at all.

Anyway, never mind me, enjoy your doomsaying for whatever reason you enjoy it and don't forget to report this post just in case, so "my poe account will be at risk", mmkay.

158k - peak online at league start
90k - 24h peak online today

~68k players has left already

so let me tell why this is happening:

1. unskippable campaign that nobody gives a s..t about and developers are still making it more obnoxious by increasing monsters hp and damage, this patch it was act 2, i mean i was not playing on meta skill and while doing act 2 i was shaking my had with question: has anyone even playtested this s..t?

2. character animations are ten years old. gender lock. how can developers buffing self-casting skills if character animations are complete garbage and needed to be reworked like 5 years ago? also there is no option to disable screeming of a character when he/she casts something, and this gets old very fast. disabling event voicelines and putting dialogue volume to 0 isn't working

3. heavy reliance on farming/trading for character development, horrible trading experience. unreliable crafting, currency scarcity. why would i "earn currency" in the game if I "earn currency" in Real Life already, and when i came home and want to escape this grim reality, you want me to "earn currency" in your f... videogame? ssf is not playable either because currency is too rare and crafting is too random, this mode should had completely different drop rates

4. 3.15 nerf to support gems was a disaster that still impacts the game. it made the game very difficult and it was a big hit to build diversity. players want to experiment with builds and make them to endgame without spending 300h per character. the game is directed towards no-lifers/streamers/rmtrs

5. again garbo league mechanic that needs micromanagement: picking up the parts, inventory, recipes, selection, srpeadshits... why the f... player can't just go near it like abyss and it automatically picks random recipes and the fight begins??? no, players need to stand there selecting, while some mobs are wrecking them meanwhile

there is a huge demand for a good ARPG and I don't know why developers are so proud about their peak numbers, it's just 1 day peak, sustain is terrible, and why is this an achivement anyway? what is 270k players if there is a demand for a good arpg among MILLIONS of players

developers need to reconsider their phylosophies because this game will be so dead when diablo 4 comes out

While the steam numbers show you were right, that about 50% of players are gone 1 week after league start (which is nothing really new), I question your reasons.

1. The campaign cannot be skipped, but it's actually not a big deal, because you can get to maps in a matter or hours.

2. I don't think that matters for most people - you like the game or you don't. People liked D2R (and even D2), although animations weren't all that great.

3. Maybe, but it's hardly a secret that this is the case in this game. If you don't like it, it's not a game for you.

4. Fair point, although it only affects "old" players, who left after the nerf. New players won't realize something's been taken away from them.

5. I disagree. You can just randomly throw the... whatever they are called in the sockets and go. But the possibility to actually have an influence on the outcome is a great move by GGG IMO. And if you get wrecked by monsters you left on the screen before activating Archnemesis, that's on you.

I think main reason numbers are dropping off fast is that the game has gotten so fast, that you can "complete" it on a weekend. I'm always baffled when I see that people are already into higher maps 6 hours after release. And what's left to do after you've done all the content? Sure, you can grind to level 100, but that's nothing special anymore, so why do it? Farm currency for the sake of... more currency that you don't need?

They won't until the money ain't coming in, that's the only thing they will listen to, so try this:

If your red lines aren't being addressed in the patch notes for a league, just skip the league entirely.. If enough people does this they might reconsider their views, if not so be it, just skip the game there is plenty of other choices out there.
