HALF of playerbase has quit in 1 WEEK

Buffs and nerfs come and go. If we look at the big picture, farming red maps has, for the longest time, meant that your build is fairly decent. It varied, but, in general case scenario, a casual player took some time getting there.
But, at one point it became meaningless, the climb was non-existent and you just hopped on top. What's the point of even having map tiers that don't mean anything, map mods nobody reads, and bosses that die before a moderately competent player can see what they do. Who'd want to work on a game like that? Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" You mean to play. Not 'work', right? *Insert Anakin & Padme right? right? meme* |

as an average player it takes me 15 min to prepare and clear a map with stuff added that makes it worthwhile.
and, on a personal level, things changed: i can only play 1 to 2h in the evenning but can't motivate myself to start cause once i'm in gaming mood i would have to quit again. also, it's unlikely that the short grind returns something worthwhile and on top of that i made it a habit to go to bed once i messed up and died. tl;dr poe isn't the game for quick fun anymore. which could be the reason casual gamers leave once the grind starts. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" In my eyes, it never has been. Hell, I remember farming The Docks back in the days, when Piety was the highest boss. The amount of time between each 'noticeable' drop - even chaos - was heartbreaking. And while it has gone up and down (mainly up) since then, no matter how you twist and turn; alch'n go still yields you progress, now more than ever - I think. Anyhow, I've played for 10 years soon, and I've "seen it all". New players joining the guild, getting 40/40 in their first league on a rather "casual schedule". Casual players dropping a mirror in acts. Casual players hosting boss services. I've learned there's no such thing as a "casual player", at least as a stereotype. Not just because everyone has their own definition of "casual", but because no matter what definition of "casual" you have, 'most' things in PoE is achievable within a 3 month league. " it's probably a matter of view, in the "good old times"(tm) we had no streamers showing us how they explode loot pinatas with their overpowered builds. now, deep inside yourself you always compare your personal gaming experience with theirs, leaving yourself feel like shit grinding for no real reward for hours. and yes, maybe "casual player" isn't the right word, "inefficient player" sounds much better, "intentionally inefficient player" hits it perfectly: a player stopping to push his gameplay at one point of the game for various reasons. you can achieve everything in poe if you choose the right build and push hard enough. maybe the iip (intentionally inefficient players) choose shit builds to have a reason to stop at a certain point of the game? are there players who intentionally don't wanna win? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" We had streamers back then. Kripp's videos brought me here. And there wasn't any "explodes loot pinatas" back then, which was a part of my point. I would say when you intentionally play inefficient, and don't take advantage of the possibilities and mechanics the game throws your way, an argument could be made that you "don't wanna win", but that's solely depends on your definition of "win". If playing inefficient is fun for you, another argument could be made that you're actually winning. Anyhow, seriously; if a play intentionally plays inefficient, and goes on the forums to talk about how the game doesn't "respect his time", and that things "take too long", I don't know if it has anything to do with the game. Not saying this is you, BTW. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Of course it has to do with the game - but also with the player. The player made the first mistake, though, by choosing a game that is not for them. However, with how PoE has changed in the past, when the player chose the game, it might not have been not right for them, yet. And now that it has changed into a direction said player doesn't like, it's still hard to leave, because you've liked the game in the past, the company, people in your guild and so on. Little things tend to anger me but really it's just the design of the game lacking in some way that comes back to a meaningful problem / enhancement.
A good starter of mine ripped tonight trying to get a bleed flask around level 35 when Beastiary menu decided to put a level 70 beast in with my recipe. I wasn't paying attention obviously but this leads to a want for an enhancement. Either make the recipe not possible to craft or put a big flashing red border on the button to indicate a potential problem. A level 35 character cannot beat a level 70 beast. So why is this craft possible in the menu? It's been like this for years. |

" i meant the time before krip. and yes, there were no loot pinatas: i was refering to streamers nowadays showing us them raiding their fully buffed maps with their overpowered builds. "playing inefficiently" can mean multiple things: - you don't go for known overpowered builds - you don't rip off other players in trade - you don't immediately exploit all bugs other people discover and abuse - you don't abuse party rotations to get rich - you support the game alot, resulting in too many stash tabs to maintain - you don't share stuff in groups like guilds and so on. there is a certain point of progress in the game where most players stop playing. they stop pushing, is it the prices for the next upgrades? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!
