Xp loss isnt needed in 2022

XP loss feels bad for me, because the game doesn't really communicate what is dangerous or not. Some random white mobs in maps, 1 shot super dangerous. t16 Map boss, who cares. I think if the game is as punishing as it is, the penalty for dying is having to run back or run out of portals. Letting players level up might make them enjoy the game a little bit more. There is nothing special about reaching level 100, some people treat it like a sacrosanct thing, but it is just a level cap that is annoying to get too because the games xp gain slows waaay down.

Amazing how the "slippery slope" fallacy is common among people who defend no fundamental change must ever come to happen in the game, even when that change wouldn't affect them in anything. "You do this, then this will also happen, then this, then this..." Just to find a way to be against something neutral to them. I've seen it way too many times, it's just amazing.

You KNOW no death exp would be seen as an "easy" category, to cater to casuals and not be mixed with "hardcore" in any way; how does this even makes sense...? You die in hardcore and you're not in that league anymore, why would no exp death mix with hardcore??? "SortOfHardcore", lol, you're just inventing things you can be against.

You want more trade buddies, you need to stop pushing and treating an entire category of people, that again by the numbers leaving every league are the majority here; so-called "casuals", like garbage. Why would they remain and trade with you if they aren't the ones to even have a rightful place in the game??

1. That is a lie. I didn’t mention a slippery slope. I discussed the immediate, direct consequences of your suggestion.

2. I literally explained how it would have far reaching effects on the entire community. It was in the part of my post you chose to omit from your quote.

Again, I specifically addressed this point in the post you are responding to.

Perhaps you would care to do me the courtesy of reading it first. I extended that courtesy to you.

I made a point of explaining why I called it that in my post.

Before addressing this, I shall quote something else from your post;

Since you’re no fan of things being invented, perhaps you could offer specific and detailed examples of me treating people “like garbage” or insinuating people don’t have “a rightful place in the game”.

As a matter of fact, you can go ahead and use specific quotes to justify those statements. Unless of course you’d like to apologise for them and retract them…

Sorry, was talking about the devs, not you. My bad.

No, you didn't mention a slippery slope, you made one, and I explained why, won't repeat.
@squishy: oof that first post made my head scream. We need to review syntax, paragraph structure, and persuasive writing my friend!

Tons of repetition and circuitous ideas does not a good post make.

Reads like a person trying to say 5 things all at the same time, in the guise of the movie Memento

There should be a racing setting with xp loss enabled so people who want to race in the ladder in a new league can do so. Like a box you tick when you create the charachter for the league.

Otherwise xp loss should be disabled by default for people not interesting in racing. It isn't needed in 2022 or was needed back in 2012.

exp loss prevents me from trying difficult/overtuned content -> limits amount of content I play -> causes the game to become repetitive/boring -> makes me quit faster and in turn -> spend less/no money

why would I run "x" if there is a chance I could die and have a major setback towards the next level? no, thank you.

the game simply doesn't allow for experimentation, and by that I mean checking if I can finally run the said "x" without killing myself or do I need to improve my gear.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

i swear i've posted in most of these threads with the same thoughts:

A consumable item of ex?+ rarity which when you die prevents a preset-% of exp loss up to 100%(being the highest rarity item) down to say 10% reduces exp and these items combine in 3's like sextants to become the higher tier.

When you die the Highest tier one in your inventory is consumed and prevents that amount of exp lost on death.

these items take up a considerable amount of space anywhere from 3 slots to 8 slots in your inventory.
Innocence forgives you
