I read somewhere that they had been nerfed

Harbinger is not worth it unless you're running the Harbinger sextant.

Alot of data on Harbingers has been done.
On average, you get ~2 chaos per Harbinger in a map.

With the sextant you get ~5 chaos per harbinger.

This data was collected counting thousands of Harbinger maps disregarding Mirror shards but including Exalted shards/orb drops.

Harbinger on Mapdevice is 4 chaos so breakeven.
Rusted Harbinger Scarab is ~3 chaos for 2 harbingers so you get around 1 chaos profit.

If you're not running Sextant, Polished/Gilded harbinger scarabs will be a money loss.

Nah i made so much of my currency through Harbingers, they are still good even without the sextants.

+1

If you have the scarabs, worth it.
This is why the scarabs are expensive: because the passives are actually good.

Is that data from this league or outdated? Because I dont run harbi sextant at all and I still get a lot of money from them.
The harbingers give so much exalted shards that I have a hard time believing it isn't valuable. I do run with scarabs only, not the sextants.
also dont forget harbinger are a gg boost if you run a headhunter so you can easier / faster clear rest of the map = more drops / hour

harbinger shouldnt be watched as a stand alone more like combined with beyond ( you dont have to go for double or tripple )

Harbinger on tree is probably one of the best add ons in map ( for general use )

This is the correct answer. Harbingers are the go to because they’re a net positive on clearing efficiency, and mapping isn’t about how much currency you make. It’s about how much currency per hour.

Spent the first 2 months of league rebuilding my pc what died, so I missed most of it.

Finding now that if you're just starting out and have like 10-15 points, the first points you spend should always ALWAYS be more kirac and more maps in general.

Rares in maps is another good one for the league content. Archnemesis modicles drop from their corresponding rare monsters, and rolling nemesis or beyond or simply speccing into more rare monsters is a big boost to your drop rates for rarer shit like Incendiary and Bloodletter.

Deli and legion are straight up pay dirt.

Einhar beasts often have nemesis mods alongside beast mods that also signal boost Archnemesis. Beast resale rates are at a nadir right now, so don't necessarily spec tree points into this if you can get Archnemesis from just running normal Einhar missions. Unless you're hauling off to Standard with a full menagerie of high acuity red beasts for a reason.

Harbies, boxes, and corrupted unique maps will always be profitable to some degree. They slow down atlas progression: running boxes is stop-and-go, with some rolling between. But tapping into the special mod pool of boxes (6links, div cards) and corrupted items (6links and corrupted bosses) and the harby currency shtick will always be in demand.

Diminishing returns department: Anything that boosts influenced or endgame bossing encounters is still going to have shit returns compared to simpler nodes. There's only so many 3-implicit short bows and rotted round shields you can pick up before you realize you've been bamboozled. It's great that elder and shaper guardians will double up until you realize that "chance to drop their frag" is about 0.5%. Conq maps need to be around 100-120% quant to have the previous iteration's chance to drop a conq orb. Good luck getting there! And invitations are harder to get so good luck sustaining the volume of writs you need to see the benefits of any Maven nodes.

All bossing all the time? Maybe. Possessed boss, duplicate boss, your mileage may vary. Ghosts piss me off. Have had ghosted boss active in the past, and out of 7 ghosts, 3 just haul off to a corner of the arena and spaz out without interacting with the boss. That said a good quint ghosted boss with tons of adds can be an absolute piñata.

Niche: these are things that deliberately sap your mapping time but the economy can't run properly without them. Probably in this order: syndicate, delve, alva, expedition, tane, cassia. At the tail end are labs and goddess. Belts and hats still need endgame enchants. Running these means you either have a dedicated lab runner or know someone who does and will run your hats for steep discount for wasting points on trials.

Abyss: don't. It will make you cry. I love abyss with all my heart and soul but the market has tanked for i86+ stygians and Shroud and even corrupted 6-mod eyeballs. Pretty much the only big win is a pair of i86+ 35% movespeed two-tone boots with a black socket. Until you can get abyssal Unset Ring, just pick something else.

I think Essences are God-tier. No matter what you do not having them will feel bad. They are great at any point of the League. Harbingers are great as well - consistent currency for free with occasional bumps in profit, but they take more time and less impactful if you don't use Scarabs. Darkshrines just feel great mainly because they make character stronger. Strongboxes nodes are great, but not cluster with many specific nodes - avoid it. If you are using Sextants you need +1 charge node. Exarch/EoW influence packsize/shrine related passives are great too. Quantity nodes are great but their impact is not immediately seen like if you add extra Harby or Box in your map.

Basically tree Grimro came up with originally with Harbingers, Essences, Maps (respec later) and strongboxes is the best. Just don't take specific Strongbox nodes and "

Next League I will do the same - Maps (respec later), Essences, Harbingers, Shrines and Strongboxes. Something like that - https://www.pathofexile.com/fullscreen-atlas-skill-tree/AAAABgAAhAgbCD8KGQo9DOAO4hbEF8sYxBmCG04fOB_EJMso0CjpKoQt0C6LNIg5jj5fQndDI0NLQ6lIAEgsSbxKX038UBdQOVGCV-NYRVp9WslazlvZW_Nc2V23XcdeKl73YCFiKWO1ZLJmtWbGadVtfW39bipxC3Ercstzi3bCeIR7p30TgHiDw4PdhSeH-4gZiG2K0YsYjSmRfZIsl0WcK51enYeeSaBdo4mkrKbErdauAq7nr8GyZrMttf226LoXuyq8qML_xf7G0MbZyH7Joc2oznrOkdCi0U3Uh9S51WbXhdi12NDZkNq93Wjf-OGL4qflj-Xs5yjq1e-u8uj1TPj6-jD8BP3J_dH-3gAA Then leave base and specialise into specific mechanic. I mostly followed Betrayal this League, next League it might be Harvest, Expedition or maybe even boss rushing. But I am not sure if I need all the map related passives. Anyone have experience progressing ATlas without those? I guess they are mandatory.

Bad nodes:
I got dissapointed with Heist. I just don't feel them honestly. Doesn't feel impactful.
For Shrines - Covetous Shrine is fine, but not necessary.
For Strongboxes - Vault of Mysteries, Concealed Logistics, Backup Cache just don't worth it. All other 3 nodes are amazing.

I had some expedition nodes allocated because they were convenient while I was farming the 100 guardian/conq maps challenge, and it straight up bought me a headhunter. Expedition reroll currencies (except rog's...) and logbooks were incredibly lucrative compared to time investment this league. 3 chaos per rusted scarab, something like 30 chaos per expedition on average, means big bucks.
