Can Path of Exile compete with Lost Ark and Elden Ring?

You seemed to know a lot about it, so I asked you. Now it seems like you don't want to answer those questions, which is OK, I guess. But depending on those questions, I think your comparison may be pretty unfair.

Anyhow, I would probably step aboard the LA hype train if it was an ARPG. As it's an MMO, I fear that you HAVE to party up with people to do certain things, beat certain bosses or do certain dungeons, which is a total turn-off for me. Maybe you can answer that fear too, with a "yes, you have to" or "no, you can do everything solo", but then again, maybe you refuse to answer - and refer me to the internet. Who knows.

It's just too much to write and i'm not the forum guy, i barely have 30 posts in the last x years of POE...
I'll take my time to answer to you, but feel free to do your own research as well.
If you don't like MMOs most likely you wont like LA btw. POE and LA are quite different except both being top down ARPGs (camera wise).

Can you pay over and over again to get more/faster benefits? Is there a cap, like in PoE, where spending more money on tabs don't give you a benefit anymore?
Will these purchases benefit ALL of your characters forever, like in PoE? Will a player ready to spend $1000 get a lot more benefits/faster progression?

You Pay to get gold that you use to upgrade your gear to +15 or higher later. You use the gold to get higher level gear that makes you tankier or do more dmg. This is related to only 1 char, not overall on your account. In EU release the gear cap is 600 so if you pay $1000 as in your example you prolly gonna get to max few days earlier compared to a f2p guy who puts no money in it. That's the only benefit. You don't need to pay anything to enjoy the full game, it will just take you more time because the chances to grow your gear after +10 consume gold and have a small % of success. It's RNG. You also get a bigger e-pp if your gear has a bigger score than mine when some random guy inspects your char...
Can you get all this as f2p? Yes, but you need to grind more to get that gold that some can just buy to help increase their chances to upgrade their armors...

I'm no expert, never played LA till now, but i did my research and i'm gonna play it because it looks like fun to me. I think POE will still retain a big part of its audience as not everybody enjoys MMOs and that's ok. I might even try the new league if the announcement will be good. You should also play what you enjoy.

Ugh

Yeah i know...not easy to find reliable streamers, but it's the world we live in!

You cant play poe without the stashes.

Yes, you can. My brother played his first League without stashes. I didn't hoard anything for him. He made several tens of exalts after I taught him that he could bulk sell all of his currency for Chaos whispering people himself so he didn't even need a premium tab.

Playing without tabs is pain in the a$$, but you can still play the game alright.

Will february be the worst month ever in PoE history?

Not likely no.
Big overhaul of end game is reason enough
Possibly. I would guess a lot of people, myself included, are excited for the big POE Atlas update.

Elden Ring will definitely pull me away however. Invading/being invaded in a fresh Souls environment is a once in a lifetime sort of event. Before the git guds and sweat lords take over.

I'm not trying to convince you to play a certain game man. Do your own research, there are more reliable sources, like streamers.
I'm just a random guy on the internet who thinks LA is as p2w as POE.
Play what's fun for you. And yeah, LA is gonna be f2p, same model like POE.

I will answer this question. LA is absolutely an MMO, and engame progression is impossible without grouping, and we are not talking even about 4 man groups, but 8 man raids that are rather demanding. I have been playing on RU for quite some time and public groups (which take time to assemble) frequently fail the easiset raid in the game. And you will have to do A LOT of them, and much harder ones if you want to progress your character past a certain point.

At the current stage of the game in RU, you can pretty much play solo through all the story content and up to the beginning of endgame, which is T3, where from a certain point gear upgrades will require raid crafting mats that can only be received from, you guessed it, raids.

There a crap ton of side quests and collectibles, some of which do give you valuable stuff, but they usually dont have much combat content. The hardest and most interesting combat encounters are locked behind group content.

So yeah, if you want a solo ARPG experience like PoE with minimal people interaction, LA will not be the game for you.

Thanks, the campaign was so bad I gave up after a few hours, good to hear there isn't a good reason to put myself through all of it.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
