Can Path of Exile compete with Lost Ark and Elden Ring?

I don't see Elden Ring taking people away more than a single week. Souls games are extremly short ones and I suspect Elden Ring to be a done deal in about 3-4 days for most of us, also I don't know how the open world will be handled, and I suspect for it to be a cheesy mess that will get steamrolled by twitch simps day 2 or 3. Lost Ark don't appeal to me at all, and I don't think the adherence with PoE player base is that big, it relaly look like a cash shop intensive corny GAAS game and PoE base is imho above that for most part.

I may not have fully fledged my mhr loadouts tho, I'm a sucker for monster hunter, I discovered it with mhw iceborne but now I think that I've step up too much for mhr to be a challenge even going in no spoil, I was like 10-15% away from #1 speedrunners on 3 weapons. So yeah, I will probably be burned off mhr :).

I cancelled my preorder of Ark, New World was a shit show and bought Elden Ring.

Even though Ark is an already existing IP and whatnot, most of the issues for New World were tied to server populations and server side data that all resolved with the host, Amazon. Not sure how Ark is going to be, but I have no intention of jumping feet first into another game I want to burn in hell.

Souls games don't generally take a ton of time to beat. I am looking forward to the new league for sure.

New world was a shitshow because amazon hardcapped the server capacity to 2k players. Otherwise the entire ecosystem would have collapsed. The LA beta servers worked flawlessly. Didnt have a single dip. I wouldnt compare NW servers to LA ones at all.
Dying Light 2, completely different genre, but one game I have been waiting for!
After watching RaizQT play Lost Ark yesterday, I am hooked. It looks amazing.

It will be interesting to see if GGG actually keeps the next league date for early Feb as Lost Ark is going to be released on Feb 11.

I will most likely start playing LA. After 7 years of PoE (over 10k hours), it is time for a change. I do not think the game is going in the right direction to keep my interest anymore.

I am not Anti-Social, I am just selective on whom I wish to be social with.
Lost ark may have been the worst leveling experience I have ever had in an mmo.
Don't believe too many PoE players would prefer it.
However, the PVP is actually really really good.

Elden Ring doesn't seem like a similar genre at all but yeah people are going to play that lol.

The new season will def compete next month.

What was the deal with launch being pushed once or twice?

I will say I have played multiple Korean MMOs and in the end they all become P2W or get taken down. Archeage and then Archeage Unchained being my most recent forays.
There will be nothing surprising in Lost Ark sitting in the aRPG throne when it releases.

My prediction is that PoE will continue to lose player base until PoE 2 releases. Then it depends how good PoE 2 is and whether it can stand against the other popular aRPGs at that time.

Overall PoE time has passed and PoE 2 was a mistake from the start - they should have focused on developing a new game with a modern engine long before PoE 2 was announced.

The aRPG genre needs innovation to stay relevant as of 2022 and there is space for it. As someone completely understanding the design direction aRPGs should go to not be dissembled slowly by the popularity of other game genres, I can assure you that it is possible. The secret for that lies in designing aRPGs to be as procedural as possible.
With LA launching stateside on Feb 11 and ER on Feb 25, honestly, it really feels like 3.17 is gonna get screwed regardless.

GGG's best shot at making solid returns is a SUPER feel good league.

For me and my friends definitely.

Anyway we are a bunch of casuals and we feel in the last years the game direction has driven us away.

Anyway we are super hyped for Lost Ark and Elden ring.

this is same as ppl claiming lost worlds will kill poe , lets look at what sorry and pathetic game it is atm and how it killed poe :D
