If you don't reset the tree of a character in Standard, will they keep the old ascendancy and passive tree?

No, when they actually move the tree, they force a reset.

A defensive low dpd class that only really shines for casuals and hardcore. They continue to nerf things that don't need it.

They shredded one of the best defensive ascendancies in the game. Simply a terrible idea. Making the block chance lucky is like a consolation prize. Not good enough. If they give 30-50% spell block to the Gladiator in place of ripping away it's #1 Ascendancy passive, that would make up for it. It needs to have a considerable amount of flat spell block that is unique to this Ascendancy.

Who makes these decisions, GGG? Wtf? It honestly makes me want to set POE down for a long time and likely never return. You're pigeon-holing us into certain builds and playstyles. Very similar to how D3 went. No bueno.

We dont know what it has now but i agree in a way since the reason you go glad.... is for block and spell block

If you take that away no one goes glad anymore
Gladiator will be the same. It will have "your block is lucky". So if you get new nod to have 50% block and 50% spell block, you will have 75% chance, like before. Gladiator is the same, as it was.

Lucky is only with attacks. No it's not the same.

Removing the core identity of the class. At this point just remove ascendancy all together and just give everyone access to all points seems like their solution to their inept attempts to balance right now.

Who says it'll be taken away? Versatile Combatant will be replaced by a passive making your block chance lucky. I don't think you quite understand just how that can be powerful at high block chance.

In 3.15, you'd take VC, Violent Retaliation and invested in block nodes, ending with 79% block and spell block. In 3.16, you take the VC, invest into 2% more block, take the Violent retaliation and end up with 54% block and spell block...which lucky block turns into 78,84% chance to block. Depends on how the numbers are changed, you might end up being slight nerf or slight buff in terms of cost. But you can also try an approach without the new VC. You drive the base block to 79%, and get a bit of spell block from new passives, say 20%. Now if you apply the lucky block, you end up with whooping 95,59% chance to block and 36% spell block. Layer in the evasion and the new spell mitigation, and you might end up with taking half damage from spells that go through block, and with 75% evasion-which will need only 24200 evasion rating now, quite attainable-you actual chance to be hit by attack will be mere 1,1%. That's like having permanently capped evasion and dodge in 3.15, which require massive investment.
